I have been to 2 locations in my area. Virginia beach blvd and greatneck road, both were great. I have done the foot massage and also a "special" that included neck, shoulder and back. Both amazing. The room is calming. I like that they offer 30 minutes and up if you dont have a lot of time. And you dont get undressed for the back/body massages, if thats something you dont like or also dont have much time. The prices are very reasonable. They were kind and professional each time. I have taken friends (for a birthday gift) and they also had great experiences. I will go back. I did not take pictures. read more

The staff were polite and friendly. Once you leave the front desk area you are transported into a quiet oasis with a tranquil atmosphere. We were given foot baths to soak our feet in and while we waited for them to soften, a relaxing neck, shoulder and arm massage was given. The entire hour treatment melted all my stress away. Tao Feet Spa was truly a hidden gem. My family and I came and did the 60 minute deluxe (with body and foot massage), and I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the experience. Firstly, the room itself has a very zen atmosphere, and I liked how you were able to choose from a series of baths for your feet. I got the 1 hr foot reflxaology ($42) and it was about 15 minutes of them massaging my back while sitting down and having my feet in some hot water. Afterward the remaining 40ish minutes was massaging the feet. They were very repetitive of my reflex and adapting as the session went on. My favorite thing about this place is that they constantly massage you unlike other places taking a small break every five minutes. The masseuse was good and relieving knots on my back and toes. Whenever I'm in the 757 I try to make a ln appointment at Tao. I've lived in several states but I haven't found a good foot spa like Tao. It's a good addition to your monthly body massage routine. The experience started off great. We called bc we were running late due to the motorcade that shutdown traffic throughout Virginia Beach they were kind enough to still take us. The foot soak and massage were great for the price. However, we paid for the massage beforehand and they closed out their register for the evening before we were finished which led to much confusion. We were accused of not paying for services and then hounded for a tip. We had no cash for a tip, and none of the service providers had Venmo/CashApp/etc. or spoke English. It took 15 minutes of being yelled at by a service provider about not paying and then not tipping before they bothered to call someone who spoke English for the situation to be understood. We were followed to our vehicle being aggressively pursued about the tip. I left my name and number, and came back the next morning at the time they told me to return to leave 20% for each provider plus extra 10% for the inconvenience. However, no one was around. I called (no answer) and waited the 30 minutes and before I was able to deliver the tips. I'm embarrassed because I was the one who suggested coming to the spa because of good reviews. My friend and her mother, who is visiting from out of town, were disturbed by the yelling and being followed. I'm all for tipping, but if we had been warned that they were closing the register, we could've tipped before services rendered. If the staff is going to follow us across the parking lot yelling about tips, maybe Tao Feet Spa should add a gratuity fee or additional service charge to ensure their employees are receiving fair wages, bc they did not act like they are being paid well. **UPDATE** If I return to the business, it will solely be due to the woman who called to apologize. She was kind, professional, and accepted responsibility even though she wasn't at fault. The business is lucky to have someone so dedicated it's reputation. read more

This was my first foot spa and we had booked one hour with our friends so we got the entire room to ourselfs with the 8 of us getting a massage together. I didn't know what to expect but this was an awesome experience and after I knew I definitely wanted to get this done all the time. They take us back to the room with chairs lined up side by side in two rows. It's quiet and dimly lit inside. You can hear everyone massaging and it seems like they are all in sync doing the same thing so it really doesn't matter who you get cause they do the same thing. The massage pressure was perfect. This review is based on the false advertisement of walk-ins welcome. This would have been my 2nd time at this establishment, the first time being great. I walked in today at 12:30 pm to an older woman (owner I think) sitting at the reception desk, I let her know that I would like a 1 hour body massage and she asks me if I had an appointment, I replied with " I do not, last time I just walked in" and she said I need an appointment, they only do appointments. Even though online it states walk-ins welcome (pic attached). The waiting room was empty and I know they have multiple spots in the back as its a communal massage area. not sure if this is new for them but I would suggest you update your online information and be consistent. read more

My friend and I scheduled this place last minute and I really did not know what to expect. They were pretty good with scheduling and had a good amount of staff available. They are very cautious about Covid and require masks at all time. Upon entering into the massage area, it is quiet, the lights are dimmed and there is peaceful spa like music playing. It is a big room with big lounge chairs spaced out and curtains for division. I got the 30 minute foot and 30 minute body massage. I usually am ticklish but the foot massages were not ticklish at all. I also recommend the foot massage over anything. It is the best and most relaxing. They have you rinse your feet in a hot tub of water that they bring to your seat while they massage your shoulders and back. They really focused on all the reflexology stuff on your feet. When they got to my body, we moved to a comfortable massage table in the same room. You don't ever take off your clothes. They put a towel over my body and started massaging my whole body. It was a rough massage. I felt like they really dug into my bones and muscles. In retrospect I should have asked the gentlemen to go a little softer like my friend did but, I just didn't know what to expect. The price was super affordable for the quality of massage. My friends and I are coming back for a birthday celebration. I think this time I'm going to do 60 minutes of feet only massage. I believe that is their specialty. read more

I paid for deluxe 60-minute body massage in 30 minute foot massage and received 18 minute foot massage and 60 minute elbows and knuckles to my back 75% of the time and 25% of the massage went to the rest of my body posterior/backside only, therapist never touched the front side of my body. So they're deluxe body massage is actually a very painful back massage only with a very painful foot rub for 18 minutes. I was expecting a professional reflexology massage and instead left hurting and very sore to the touch the next day. The management team reached out and offered an extra 15 minutes and $5 off my next session. I replied no please!! The company was paid in full and never offered a refund other than more painful service. Very poor therapist, male, I don't know his name. I will never visit again and recommend questioning education level before allowing him to work on you. read more

I'll count this visit as Strike 1. Complete opposite of the service I received from my first visit here. I was really looking forward to my visit here but this past weekend really had me scratching my head in disappointment. It was a Sunday afternoon, and I figured to give it a shot as a walk-in. First off- paying up front....she asked if I was paying cash or credit and I handed her my card. That's when she said, "you have cash for tip, right?" WTF. Okay well yeah I do. I get for the most part there is no real conversation throughout the massage. Some people like to talk, I don't. Not during a massage. So I guess it sorta worked out that none of them speak little or no English at all. They way he communicated with me was by using his hands. To move up or down on the chair, he motioned his hand. The pressure during the leg massage was a little hard so I had to tell him to ease up which he understood. By the time it was all done, he said "okay" and walked away. I left the tip on the massage chair and left. Now as an Asian, I get their way of customer service in retail so I typically let shit like that slide. UNTIL I left. Tell me why the lady who runs the massage actually ran out to the parking lot looking for me....I spotted her before she saw me and rather than go ahead and drive off I sat in my car till she made eye contact with me. Then she came up to me and asked if I paid. Are you frigging kidding me???? I said yes. She said did you pay cash or card? Um hello, I was just there an hour ago. I leave here every time feeling so relaxed, like in a TRANQUIL state. I usually get the reflexology and body massage and when I get the reflexology I can feel it in my head and stomach. Ever muscle and organ seems to relax. The lady at the front desk is so friendly, please make sure to bring cash for the tip. The lighting is just right and the music is relaxing. Everything is clean. The shoulder and arm rub gets you relaxed and prepared for the foot massage. It's relaxing. My comfort level was checked and once I fell asleep that must've became a sure sign that I was comfortable. Peace and serenity are the two words that come to mind when I think of Tao. The care and quality is thus far unmatched to any foot spa I've been to. I love their different soaks to help what ales you. Every time I fall asleep from how good of a job they do and kick myself for not staying up to thoroughly enjoy it. The music is perfect the scent is relaxing the chairs are comfortable. My only downside is the price is a little steep and seems to go up every few months. As I understand prices for everything are going up but for the rate to go up so often I find myself wondering if I should just pay a little more to my favorite and most affordable full body massage place (sadly is not in town :( ) But no matter what I will splurge every now and then at Tao because the service is so good. . Absolutely the worst massage Ive ever had. My girlfriend and I opted for the full body. Let me start off my saying I get a massage every week from a number of businesses locally. I know when a massage Therepist is less than engaged. I asked for more firm and she continued to barely rub my shoulders in the same area while sitting on the bench. If you have ever had a real massage you will be seriously disappointed. My girlfriend had basically the same experience. Very inconsistent pressure, not methodical, and was pressing his elbow into her spine. I am not one to complain as a business owner myself, so I asked to speak with the owner. I explained to her that my girlfriend and I get massages every single week and we were both very disappointed. I was bringing it to her attention so that she could get her employees more training and help them hone their skills. There was a language barrier and she was not understanding what I was saying. I begrudgingly paid the 110 and she had the audacity to ask me to pay a tip. She offered no resolution and made no effort to earn our business again. I was only trying to explain that her employees need more training. She gave me attitude like i was in the wrong. This is bad customer service in my opinion and I would have come back if given the opportunity. Perhaps they are good for foot rubs as the reviews seem to support that however I would not waist your hard earned money, especially when they are unwilling to accommodate an unhappy customer. read more

The one time I left my phone in my purse. I had to summon assistance from the gentleman next to us to wake him up before he fell off his stool. Before he fell asleep, there were times that the atmosphere was relaxing...until the employees would open the door yelling at one another. And the cigarette smell radiating of of this man...disgusting. There is little to no communication, they don't ask if you have any injuries, or tender spots, they don't ask about the pressure you prefer, so you better be comfortable speaking up or you will be bruised. (Thankfully I'm tough). The worst part was when I went to pay, the receptionist asked what I wanted to tip, I then told her, "we'll seeing as how he FELL ASLEEP...." her reply was to laugh and ask me again how much I wanted to tip. I said, "no HE fell asleep, he had to be woken up by another employee". Her reply was to point to the receipt and say, "tip here, I will talk to him".
