Maria, the owner, has been very helpful and kind in answering any questions I have about the studio. I like how detailed they are and the flow of each class. Humani stays true to what Pilates really is. From my perspective, the focus is on mindful, intentional movement. I'm able to work on my flexibility, core, and strengthen my muscles every time I visit. The place itself is beautiful. They have street parking, however, I always find a spot for class. If you're interested in learning Pilates or continuing your practice, I highly recommend checking out Humani for their introductory classes to start (Machines 101 and Foundations).

Maria (the owner), has built something so special here, and you can see how much heart and intention she pours into every detail. From the instructors she hires to the way each class is structured. Her passion truly shows! Every instructor is phenomenal, but I have to give a special shoutout to Molly, she's my absolute favorite! Her classes are thoughtful, challenging, and always leave me feeling stronger and more connected to my body. The level of instruction is truly unmatched - they don't just lead you through movements, they guide you, explain how you should feel in each exercise, when to breathe, how to align, and they correct your form in the kindest and most encouraging way. Each class is different, and I always leave having learned something new. It truly breaks my heart to be moving away from Humani, because I know no other studio will compare. Humani has honestly set the bar so high. If they ever open a studio in Marin, I'll be first in line and a customer for life. No question!!! Until then, I'll be soaking in every last class over the next few weeks before I go and will absolutely be back every time I visit family. Thank you, Maria, Molly, Charlotte and the entire Humani team, for creating such a beautiful, intentional space. This place will forever have my heart.

I love Pilates Heartcore…read more I've been to five classes so far - two private, one virtual, and two group - and have been led by five different instructors. Each class was wonderful, as was each instructor. I'm new to Pilates - before Heartcore I had only gone to/done two studio classes fifteen years ago + a few YouTube (mat) Pilates videos over the years - so I was very nervous starting out. Each instructor made me feel welcome and very supported. In addition, when I first started taking classes, I spoke with Katie, the owner of the studio, over email many times (to schedule classes), and she was so helpful and very quick to respond. The studio itself is spacious and very clean (including the bathrooms). Also, Heartcore has no "surprises" - something I very much appreciate; all policies are posted on their website, so everything that prospective + current students need to know is there. People may need to set reminders for themselves about things - an upcoming class they registered for, the need to bring grippy socks to class (which they do sell in the studio), when to cancel your registration to a class if you won't be able to make it, etc. - but that is to be expected at almost every establishment/business. I've been a member here for just about a month, and I don't foresee myself ending my membership anytime soon (barring a faraway move or something). I look forward to each class, and I'm so excited to keep going. I love this studio!

I purchased a BB Studio Reformer with Tower--something I've been dreaming of my entire adult life,…read moreever since discovering Mari Winsor's VHS tapes. After raising seven children, I was finally able to save enough to create my dream home Pilates studio. I have degenerative back disease and found Pilates more effective than physical therapy, so this wasn't a luxury purchase--it was medical equipment and a necessary investment in my health. Cassie was wonderful throughout the purchasing process, and I purchased additional equipment to complete my studio. I spent weeks preparing the room for what Balanced Body proudly brands as the "gold standard" in Pilates equipment. Then it arrived. I assembled the reformer, selected a workout from PilatesAnytime, and began my footwork. Almost immediately--bump, bump. Every pass of the carriage, the same two bumps, in the exact same spots. I contacted Balanced Body, and here I am three weeks later after countless emails, phone calls, videos, photos, and troubleshooting attempts--still with defective, brand-new equipment. Despite repeatedly explaining that this was not a wheel issue (the bumps do not occur the length of the rail, they occur in the same two spots every time), I was sent replacement wheels anyway. Changing out eight wheels required hunching over the reformer--an extremely painful process for someone with a back condition. This equipment was supposed to help my back, not worsen it. After reassembling everything, the same bumps were still there. I broke down in tears. Standing in my dream studio with defective equipment from the one company I trusted to deliver the absolute best was devastating. While Russell has been kind during troubleshooting, kindness does not replace functional equipment. The constant bumping is not a minor issue--it is distracting, disruptive, and entirely counter to the mind-body focus Pilates requires. The idyllic experience I had hyped myself up for was crushed. This reformer arrived defective out of the box. I cannot afford to spend even a single additional dollar correcting an issue that is not mine to fix--nor should I be expected to. Any replacement frame and return of the defective one should be fully handled by Balanced Body. I have since emailed Russell, Bill, and Akio requesting a replacement frame. This experience cannot be undone, but a better one can be created if Balanced Body truly stands behind the reputation and hype it promotes.

I did not know that these are custom made (I could have picked different colors but I went with basic black). The ordering process was easy and transparent (they are clear that is is custom built for you so they inform you when it is completed and ready to ship). They also help you to purchase with your FSA funds. The only snafu was with the delivery. You must be present to accept delivery so I rescheduled the delivery. The shipping company missed the date. I rescheduled again (taking time off from work) and they came past the four hour window. Then they also tried to give me someone else's stuff besides my chair. I'm too honest for that (you're welcome, J. in Libertyville!) although it would have been great to get a reformer too! Anyway, the equipment is sturdy, well built and durable and will let me conduct my Pilates practice in my home.

After consistently taking their yoga, Pilates, weights, stretching, and boxing classes, I'm now 170-180 lbs and feel stronger, more energized, and nearly pain-free. They motivate without pressure and always remind you to slow down, breathe, and surrender to the mat. In a joking way, I tell people that all of them have become my therapists, because somehow they always share the exact words I need at the right time. Over time, I've come to really see and hear the instructors and the heart they put into every class. I appreciate them more than they probably realize. Walking in feels less like going to a workout and more like showing up to see family. What stands out most to me is the awareness of mental health and emotional wellbeing. The way they combine movement, breath, and mindfulness makes each class feel like much more than just a workout. It truly feels like a space to heal. On a personal note, this studio has become an important part of my sobriety journey. The grounding, the sweat, the stillness, and the encouragement have helped me process, reset, and keep choosing healthier paths. I leave feeling clearer, calmer, and supported. If you're looking for a studio that challenges you physically while supporting you as a whole person, this is the place. I'm so grateful I found it. Thank you Carrie, Rodney, Mary, Amy, Lowella, Asnah, Vicky, Vanessa, Ron, Hallie, Lilian, Laura, Lydda, and the rest of the amazing Uplift team. From the bottom of my heart to yours, namaste.

I would not recommend this location or membership…read more My wife signed up for the 3-month membership, which included 4 classes per month plus 3 bonus classes for a total of 15 classes. What we weren't clearly aware of is that if you don't use your 4 monthly classes within that month, they disappear--even though you've already paid for them. I also purchased a 3-class pack so I could attend a few classes with my wife. After the 3 months, due to me losing my job, we needed to cut expenses and cancel her membership. Our plan was to come back once our financial situation improved. At the end of her membership, my wife still had 3 classes remaining and I had 2 classes left. She intentionally saved those classes so we could use them together. However, when her membership ended on the 27th, all of her remaining credits were removed. Today is only the 30th. I called and requested to speak with a manager, then went in person later that day. Despite two attempts to resolve the issue, no manager contacted me. Instead, my wife received an email stating that her remaining classes would not be reissued. Now I still have 2 classes available, but my wife has none, so we can't even use them together. To be fair, the instructors are great. My wife loved the Wednesday 5:00 AM class, and I was a big fan of the Sculpt classes. The quality of the workouts and instructors is not the issue. The problem is the membership structure. In my opinion, if you've paid for class credits, they should remain yours to use. If someone goes on vacation, gets sick, or simply misses a week and only uses 3 of their 4 monthly classes, those unused classes should roll over. My wife attended 11 of her 15 classes and was very consistent. It's disappointing that the remaining classes were simply erased after being paid for. Because of that policy and the lack of communication when we tried to resolve the issue, I feel obligated to warn others so they understand exactly how the membership works before signing up.
