Trying anything new on your own can be scary. I'm new to the area and decided to be brave and try Pilates with the Humani studio on my own and I've been stuck since! The studio is stunning. Very clean and they even provide you with hair ties and deodorants in the bathroom. The instructors are very attentive. They take the time to learn your name and really take time to make sure you're doing the moves correctly. Everyone at the studio is very friendly and welcoming. Parking is street parking but it never has been an issue for me. I get a great workout every time. I'm usually a weight training girl that only goes to the gym but now I've incorporated pilates 2-3x a week and I've been better results. Highly recommended (:

The instructors are all very supportive and I love that the classes change. Each one is different.

Time To Be Fit is an excellent core training/Pilates/yoga studio that opened a few months ago. It's…read moretucked away behind the Peets at 37 & J, you can smell the coffee sometimes as it wafts through the workout rooms. There are some combined cycle/floor mat classes, Yoga, stretching, and my favorite - the core circuit workout. These classes are limited to eight participants and you get lots of personal attention. It usually starts out with cycling to get the heart rate up, then a combination of strength training and cardio in various stations among the two main rooms of the studio. For instance one session might go - cycling, Bosu plank pushups, bicep curls, cycling, leg lunges, triceps, cycling, chest presses, ball sit-ups and so on. You can get class cards for most of the instruction, but the core circuit requires a month sign-up and is priced separately from the others. Of course all the workout equipment is brand new - lots of spin cycles, arm and leg machines, free weights, foam rollers and the first-class Pilates room. I have to say I'm not a Pilates person. Those machines remind me of medieval torture devices - all those straps and wires and pulleys - ugh. But I'm sure owner Robyn and trainer Jill are extraordinarily competent in what they do, and I've been very happy with my own non-Pilates experience. TTBF's decor is modern, stylish and soothing in greens and earth tones with mixed textures and materials, it's got a green vibe. There are three attractive rooms joined by a long, photo-lined corridor, plus a reception area with drinks etc. for sale, and a serene, very private outdoor patio replete with chaise lounges, plants and a fountain. One nice touch is that there are no paper towels in the restrooms - just baskets full of freshly-laundered, white terrycloth hand towels. The clientele seems to be mostly women; the place has a friendly, non-threatening atmosphere, more emphasis on the positive than pushiness or browbeating if that makes sense. I'm always sweating when I leave, a good sign. I've been going here for a couple of months and have noticed an improvement in my overall fitness and strength. Robyn, one of the owners, is a former ballet dancer and gave me tips on what I need to work on to improve my passion - salsa dancing (core, core, core). And when I know I'm going to be out late dancing, trainer Jill lets me go easy on my legs. Now how unusual is that? The only thing I wish they'd do is have a combined class card for the core circuit AND the regular fitness classes, but that's a relatively small thing for the level of training you get.

I started at Time To Be Fit [TTBF] in early October with my personal trainer, Shenan Sira. We've…read morehad about 16 private pilates sessions so far, with many years more worth in my mind. It had been a few years since I worked out or done any exercise at all prior to meeting Shenan at TTBF. Before I moved to Sacramento, my previous personal trainer in Sonoma County and I had become involved and she broke my heart. So, dealing with the emotions of it translated into not wanting to exercise because it reminded me of her. We'll use that excuse for not getting off my butt. Fast forward two years and I needed to do something to help this tired old body. I searched for great personal trainers near my home in the McKinley Park neighborhood of the East Sacramento district and found both Robyn (the owner) and Shenan at Time To Be Fit mentioned in Google searches and on Yelp. After I filled out my Health Questionnaire and received a movement evaluation from Shenan, I started on my new road to physical fitness. Most of my workout history and experiences with personal trainers were cardio and weight training oriented. I didn't exactly understand how intense, isometric, and isotonic the practice of pilates really was! I have some experience with Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan, and even ballet. Pilates reminds me of all these things . . . if done correctly with the expert guidance of a great instructor like Shenan Sira. My body is doing better after the physical therapy approach Shenan took with me as I began training. And, the pilates equipment with names like "reformer" and "tower" are actually used by some physical therapists. I'm toning, strengthening, losing weight, and beginning to remember how it feels to be healthy and strong again. I love that fit feeling! Time To Be Fit is a private, boutique, lovely little facility. As with all businesses, it is the people who are its life blood. I am very fortunate to have found a kind, compatible, sensitive, and highly skilled training professional in Shenan Sira working there. Review 0176 Feel.
