I am always greeted as I walk in the door. Today, I went for a screw and nut. I needed it for my holder for my bike. The woman working greeted me as I walked in. She took me back to the right area and even picked them out for me. I forgot they had a minimum ($1) to use a credit card. I had no money with me besides my credit card. They offered me to come back and pay, I was afraid i would forget. I shopped instead. I knew I probably needed more items. When I checked out, the woman asked me if I was going to put the phone holder on my bike now. I said yes, so she followed me out with a screw driver. The screw was too short, so she went in and got a bigger one for me. You don't get service like this anymore.

I've been here several times for pieces and parts for various projects, and they have had my parts on hand. They are conveniently located off the 169/92. They have ample parking with easy access. Their staff has been very helpful. On a recent visit, we were in for some items that we ran short of, and, of course they had enough for us to finish. BUT, more importantly, we had an unusual design that we wanted to implement. I wasn't too sure if the right pieces and parts existed to implement our design. Surprisingly their staff got the visual quickly and was helpful in thinking outside of the box for searching for a solution. This rarely happens in the big box stores! It was very refreshing to talk with a staff that actually has worked on projects. We'll be back!

Once I brought an empty tank for my grill down to get refilled. I stopped in the store first to pick up a couple of things and pay for the tank, but a worker had already spotted the tank in the back of my truck and filled it up for me before I even asked - now, that's service! They have a nice lumber yard and a small repair shop for tools. The greenhouse always has a nice supply of flowers and veggies and trees in the spring and summer seasons. There is also a plentiful supply of items that can be rented - from chairs/tents to tillers and other machinery.

My regular (aka go to) Home Depot!…read more Now do I enjoy going to either Home Depot or Lowe's overall...? No. I work in IT...I'm not exactly a big hands on, do it yourself, home project guy... The things that make me like going to this Home Depot... 1. The app. If I don't choose to buy the item online and do a pick up the app tells me what aisle the item I'm looking for is in and what section of the aisle I can find it at. 2. They offer a veterans discount. Not much... But it pretty much covers the sales tax here in Iowa anyway... It's easy to sign up for and add to your app if you have ID.me setup. Once it's in your app you just scan the QR code for the discount when you check out. Like any other Home Depot or Lowe's no one is EVER around when you actually need them. And I've learned to deal with that... Lol Parking is easy. The lot is huge and the store is fully handcapped accessible. They do offer a special parking space for veterans as well (one spot). The store is clean and easy to navigate. When I do need to flag someone down for help they are usually personable enough...when you can finally locate someone. The big picture... It is what is is. A HUGE big box store, with affordable prices, housing every item you could need for a project...and then some!

I didn't want to pay the $$$ get the dealer replacement. I'd been to other hardware stores that had the right width of screw, but way too long. Anyway, I decided to give this store a try. I walked in and the person at the counter asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for. He directed me to the correct aisle, which end, and which side of the aisle. When I got there, there was already another employee there helping someone else. After he finished with the other customer, he asked if I needed help. I showed him my key fob and went to work to find something that would fit. Eventually, he found one and even screwed it in for me, which was great because I definitely don't have a hex wrench small enough for that screw. In the end, my bill was 99 cents plus tax. This True Value store is one of the closest hardware stores to downtown. It's easy to get to off…read moreof Grand or 63rd, but turning around a trailer could be tough in this parking lot. The store is really clean, and there were actually employees walking around being helpful. What I like about these sized stores is that you can find your way around and things are geared more to homeowner type projects instead of contractors or renovations. You want to come here for those smaller projects, or if you need advice on something in your house. I wouldn't come here to buy yards of topsoil or huge piles of lumber. For us, it was in and out in 15 minutes to buy a hose, some seed and fertilizer. Prices were good (be sure to check out their house brand - it was cheaper than the big brands), and I found the selection to be good as well. Oh, and they rent tools if you need them - especially garden stuff (like sod cutters or rototillers)
