I am delightfully and surprisingly impressed with Ramona Nursing & Rehab. It is such a relief to know my father is with trusted and caring professionals. Almost everyone, even people in different stations, know my father by name. They staff will smile, greet you, and tend to your request quickly. They have a great team of healers including PT, OT, Speech therapy. And the administration is friendly as well. They are proactive and patient. The facility is clean and organized. Though the building is old and dated, you can see the effort they put in to keep it as comfortable as possible. Parking lot is always full weekdays. Weekends are much better, less staff at the facility, so more time for visitations.

We're so lucky that we chose Eastland Sub-Acute & Rehabilitation out of a long list of facilities to go to. The facility was very clean and they did not only take care of my mom's needs for her healing, they went way above and beyond our expectations. All the nurses were very nice, polite, and very accommodating, not only to my mom, but to my whole family as well. My mom could not express enough of her gratitude towards the staff members and its administrator, he's doing an excellent job running that facility. My mom almost didn't want to leave that place. Multiple times we found him sitting for hours in a diaper soaked with urine, and sometimes with feces as well. His clothes would also be soiled, and staff often would not change him until a family member specifically told them to. Almost every time I visited, the hallway floor where his room was located smelled strongly like feces as soon as I got off the elevator. I hoped it was not coming from him, but as I got closer to his room, the smell would get worse and it often was him left unchanged. No patient should be left like that for hours. Many patients were left in bed all day everyday with little to no activity or engagement. Our experience was heartbreaking and I would not recommend this facility based on how my loved one was cared for.

The staff there was very attentive and always communicated with me. We worked with Priscilla, the social worker who helped find a placement for my father's next place, and she showed so much patience with all the difficulties of handling these decisions. She was quick to respond to concerns and communicated quickly. The nursing staff was extremely helpful and kind to both my parents. My father was emotional when he left because of the sweetness they showed him. The head nurse, Cynthia, always communicated with me, answered my texts, called me directly if my father needed to hear a familiar voice, and a pleasure to communicate with her. This decision to place your loved one in a skilled nursing facility is not an easy one, but when you put them in a place that feels supported and you know they are cared for, it helps ease the anxiety of not having them home with you. The nurses and the caregivers took great care of him. He was always clean and was closely monitored medically. He had some events that required him to be hospitalized and they always welcomed him back after brief stays in the hospital. My family would like to mention a few staff members who went above and beyond what was expected of them. They are Cynthia and Edwin. There are many others that provided excellent care. You were there for him when we were not able to. You kept us informed when he wasn't feeling well. When we came to visit him, the place was always clean. Beacon became my second home. I was there every day and often stayed until 1 a.m., especially when my mom was not feeling well. I was very attentive and meticulous about her care, always closely monitoring the quality of support she received. Beacon made sure they delivered consistent and compassionate care throughout her stay. My mom was transferred to Beacon in 2021 and spent the final chapter of her life at Beacon Healthcare Center. My mom passed away on January 4, 2025. Her assigned nurses at Beacon never failed to check on how she was doing. We had hoped she would recover, but God had other plans. Although, saying goodbye was one of the hardest experiences our family has ever faced, I am deeply grateful for the care and compassion she received. Like any healthcare facility, there were a few hiccups along the way. We had some concerns during her stay, but I appreciate that the staff listened to us and worked with our family to address them. Being able to communicate openly and come to a resolution meant a great deal during such a difficult time. The nurses, caregivers, and staff treated my mom with kindness, dignity, and respect. They made every effort to keep her comfortable and showed genuine compassion not only to her but also to our family. Their patience, comforting words, and support meant more than they probably realize. No place can take away the pain of losing someone you love, but knowing my mom was surrounded by caring people brought us peace during her final days. Like many facilities, there appears to be a serious lack of urgency, compassion, and communication. My dad went approximately 15 hours without being provided water. On another occasion, he was left sitting in soiled clothing for over an hour and was expected to eat his meal before anyone assisted him. While visiting, I also witnessed another patient fall. The patient remained on the floor for approximately 20 minutes while several staff members stood around without providing immediate assistance. It was upsetting to witness. Communication among the staff has also been extremely poor. It often seems that no one knows what is happening or who is responsible for patient care, making it difficult for families to get answers or feel confident that their loved ones are receiving proper attention. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility to anyone looking for rehabilitation care for a loved one.
