A recent stop at this old school diner in the downtown part of Lockport fit the bill perfectly. My SIL wanted to take me out for a meal for my recent birthday, so we decided to take a short road trip from Clarence to Lockport. Ambiance inside is classic city style diner with murals and drawings on the walls and mostly booths with red cushioned seats. The outside isn't all that inviting. Just go in and seat yourself and enjoy the great food, service and reasonable prices. I ordered a build your own omelet and my SIL had the 2-2-2. All the food was prepared properly as ordered. My omelette was one of the best that I've had in WNY. I frequently go out for breakfast to a number of local places and am very critical of how omelets are made. Tom's is one of the few that do it right. Home fries were made from scratch with skin on baby reds and were cooked precisely. Pancakes were large, fluffy and delicious. The waitress was over shortly after I came in to take my drink order. I ordered eggs OM, toast and sausage. My eggs were cooked OE; the whole yolk oozed out as soon as I touched them. I still ate them because I was hungry and didn't want to wait for new ones and they weren't horrible, just not how I ordered or prefer them to be cooked. This place is a local Lockport classic. The food is always amazing and the weekend specials are great. The servers are always so kind and recognize there costumers that come multiple times. The ambiance is very welcoming and the location is beautiful that looks out at the canal. The food is very vegetarian friendly. Great little spot that really welcomed us, even though we had just ridden our bikes for 3 hours. Oh boy! Found the cutest, old fashioned diner right on the Erie Canal! Tom's was decorated with interesting drawings on the wall. Seating included both booths and tables, as expected. We were warmly greeted and the server was delighted to learn we were first time visitors. The breakfast specials were on the back of the menu and coffee was included in the very reasonable prices. It was a huge bonus to hear that the Italian toast was made using DiCamillo Bakery bread! The home fries were homemade using red potatoes and they were very good. My friends and I decided to go for breakfast/brunch today and got there around 12:30. After a 10 minute wait (which wasn't bad), we were seated. Our waitress took our drink order, and had to come back 3 times because she couldn't get it right. After we placed our food order, it then took about 40 minutes to get our food, which was lukewarm at best. I also asked for whipped cream on my waffle, to which the waitress asked a second time and wrote down, which I didn't get. At this point, it was about 1:30, and they close at 2, and one of the workers was flipping the chairs upside down on the tables, which made us feel like we were being rushed out of there. Our waitress brought us our check and as a way of saying "sorry" for our wait, didn't charge us for our drinks. Suffice to say, I probably won't be back. read more

I came to this diner today with my best friend after we were at an event in Barker, NY. They were closing at 1pm because of the Memorial Day holiday and were only serving breakfast, which was totally fine with me. I am usually quite indecisive if I look at the menu too long. The potato pancakes were one of the first things I saw on the menu, so I stuck with that. I'm so glad that I did. I ordered the full order (three) instead of the regular (two) size. That were large and oh SO delicious!!! The coffee that I ordered was quite good too. The food was out quickly, which made me quite happy. The waitress was really nice and even suggested a few ice cream flavors to try, when I told her we would be going to Lake Effect Ice cream after our visit at their diner. One of the best parts of this place, the waitress was awesome! Didn't have to ask for a coffee refill once, she was on it. The food was good, ended up getting a breakfast special.
