Cashier working at 930am on 5/15:19 was excellent. Phenomenal customer service. Far superior to any harbor Freight Tools I've been to

Clarendon Hills Hardware - They even have an O-Gauge/Lionel train layout. How wonderfully small town nostalgic.

This location was originally the location for one of the corporate hardware chains that pulled out several years ago. It is now run independently by a family team. It's one of those locations where you wouldn't be surprised to see a Fatfender pickup or two parked in front. In terms of selection It has everything you'd expect to find in a local hardware store packed into a non-big box space. Sure, you may pay a couple of extra cents for some items, still a fair value for the convenience, but not enough to drive you to the anonymous experience at a big box. Give them a try for a little more personalized attention.

It's exactly what a local hardware store should be: organized, stocked with quality tools, and staffed by people who actually know how to fix things. I came in for a specific project and instead of just pointing me to an aisle, the staff took the time to talk through the repair with me, saving me a second trip and a lot of frustration. It's clear they care about the community and their craft. Whether you need a screen repaired, a key cut, or just some honest advice, skip the drive to the giant retailers and support this local gem. Highly recommended!

Ace Hardware (Buikema's) - Naperville, around 8:40 PM this morning February 4th…read more I had a great start with the first cashier who was genuinely helpful showing me how to use coupons in the Ace app. But she got pulled away to handle something with another customer and asked another employee to finish checking me out and apply the remaining discounts. That second employee (older woman, blonde hair pulled back, glasses) made a very obvious full-body "really?/come on" reaction and rolled her eyes while I was pulling up the last coupon. She used a rude tone, pointed the scanner at my phone impatiently, and acted annoyed the entire time I was trying to show the final discount. I asked calmly if she was aggravated that I used coupons. She walked away while responding, wouldn't engage, and said I "misinterpreted" her with her back turned. It was crass and uncomfortable -- especially since I was polite and simply using the store's own app discounts. I shop here because I expect friendly, respectful service. I hope management addresses how customers are treated when using coupons. I'm not trying to play the senior citizen card but I am near 65 and I do fuss with apps. I wasn't born with a cell phone in my hand!

They've always been helpful, knowledgeable, and a great local resource -- which I really value. However, my most recent experience in October 2024 and May 2025 left me a bit disappointed. A heavy picture had fallen in our bedroom, and since I couldn't lift it myself, I called Fullers for help. They sent two people, who re-hung the picture in about 10 minutes. I also asked them to recaulk a small section (about 10 inches) in the shower, which took another 10 minutes. I was surprised to receive a bill for $175.00. I assumed this was a minimum service charge, and I paid it, but it still felt quite steep for a total of roughly 20 minutes of relatively simple work. The first week in May 2025, I called and told them the calking they had done was again in bad shape and been done right the first time. They sent someone. Took 10 minutes to repair and charged me another $175.00. I called to complain.was given no relief and I think was treated discourteously. While I appreciate the responsiveness a of the service, I think it would be helpful if the pricing structure -- especially for small jobs -- was more transparent. I won't call them again for minor home repairs in the future. There is a saying often heard in Hinsdale---"I've been 'Fullerized'. Now I know what it means. Caveat Emptor

Longtime Customer, But Disappointed by Service Charges and Lack of Courtesy…read moreI've been a customer of Fullers Hardware ever since I moved to Clarendon Hills. Over the years, I've appreciated having a local store I could rely on for both hardware supplies and occasional home repairs. But my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed. In October 2024, I called for help re-hanging a heavy picture and fixing about 10 inches of cracked caulking in the shower. Two people came, completed both tasks in about 20 minutes total, and I was billed $175. I assumed this was a minimum service fee and paid it. Then in May 2025, the shower caulking failed again. I called to have it redone, and one person came for another 20-minute visit -- and again, I was charged $175, this time billed directly to my credit card. That's $350 for 40 minutes of basic labor, one job being a re-do of their own work. I called the store to express my concerns, but after a long wait on hold, I felt I was treated curtly and dismissively, with no real acknowledgment of the issue or attempt to address the fairness of the charges. Here in Hinsdale, there's even a local phrase for this kind of experience: "I've been Fullerized." Unfortunately, now I know exactly what that means. I'll still stop in for hardware, but I can't recommend Fullers for home repair services -- not at those prices, and not with that level of customer service. I hope they take this feedback seriously, because longtime customers deserve better.
