I have a favorite sauce I get here that I can't get enough of. I love the Nicolas Tea. Everything I've gotten here is highly enjoyable. I can't wait to return.

As the name suggests, there are specialty food items from all over Europe. While I saw some things like English teas, German cookies, and a few Greek items, it seemed like the majority of the offerings were from Eastern Europe. I think over half of the products had labels in Cyrillic alphabet with no translation on them in any fashion, so some things you just gotta know what it is or ask the staff. I saw a lot of things from Georgia and Ukraine, but I think I saw other products from that region (Russian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, etc.). The staff were very friendly, and cheerfully assisted me with some of the pastries we purchased. One had a nice balance of flaky pastry and fruit filling while the blintzes seemed a bit underwhelming. I also picked up a bottle of dessert wine and Children #1 and #2 picked out some candies that caught their eye. The inside is clean and somewhat small but easy to navigate. There is music playing (I don't know what language; I want to say Russian but in today's climate that could be a charged statement. Just want to say it positively adds to the vibe). Worth checking out, if you want to explore a product you might not otherwise be exposed to or if you want to find a specialty European item that you've been missing.

I think so far, I am satisfied with the variety of foods and snacks offered, but be prepared for the bill to reflect the purchases, because I spent over $40 in less than five minutes and didn't even buy any meat! The owner is very nice as is the young man who stocks the shelves (I am sure he does other things too...). I was advised that I can call one day ahead and get fresh meat and if I purchase in arrival the meat will be frozen. Good to know!

They also offer a decent selection of vegetables for the Indian kitchen and boxes of mangos of course. The selection of Indian hair care products (e.g., henna) is unmatched in the DMV. If you need henna, go here. Why pay $20 at Whole Foods when you can get great Indian/Pakistani brands for under $5. The proprietor is particularly helpful and friendly and brings in all the good henna brands. I usually stock up and send out to friends. Friendliness by the store owner, a great stock of foods that make any Indian/Pakistani go "Aaaaah", and the henna are what keep me coming back here.
