Evidently, he went into the back office and pulled up my review of Serenity. Next thing I know, the owner comes out surrounded by all her waitresses. She began to berate me for my last review 10 months ago. Says my review was damaging to her business and was impacting her waitresses, all of whom were mothers (not sure why that was relevant). She also said that if I didn't like her place, I should get out and not come back. How unprofessional! If her business is getting bad reviews, maybe there is a real fundamental reason. Maybe it is her temper and tendency to ask paying customers to leave and not come back. The owner is a bigger problem than a bad review. Funny enough, without the owner incident, I probably would have given Serenity a better rating than I had previously. After all, gift certificate notwithstanding, I spent $75.00 there for a coffee pot and dry teas. Still, all in all, I could not in good conscience recommend this business to anyone. When I reached out to management to explain how upsetting the experience was, the response I received was brief and dismissive. I've since canceled two months of future appointments and requested that my card be removed from their system. Roxanne is a truly wonderful massage therapist, and this review is in no way a reflection of her work. But the way this situation was handled by management was deeply disappointing. There's a lot to work on in how they treat loyal clients and communicate policies. I would have preferred to leave a better review - but this experience left me no choice.

We were incredibly excited. Coming home, I felt like I had been tricked out of my money. Our room was not ready when we arrived at check-in time. They scrambled to get the champagne and roses ready, ruining the surprise for my fiancée. The spa was consistently unclean: dirty towels left on furniture, stepping over empty glasses and cups everywhere, and the men's locker room looked like no one had attended it all day. Good luck getting in touch with any of the staff. They are understaffed and disorganized. Whether it was the spa desk, a restaurant, room service, management... we were constantly playing phone games, reaching voicemail, and never getting a call back. The massages were a horrible value. They were very expensive, yet mediocre, and my massage therapist talked during most of it about himself. It was not a relaxing experience. Every place we ate at the resort was overpriced and also mediocre. During our second day, my fiancée had stomach issues due to the food we had eaten. So we were unable to attend our wine tour. When I explained this to management, and tried to get a refund for the tour (or at least a credit), we had to again play many phone games before being told nothing would be done. The lack of customer service, especially for the level of service we were expecting and paying for at a "luxury" resort, is truly the most disappointing aspect of Chateau Elan. Please!! Do not make the same mistake we did, do not waste your money! Personally, I wish i'd stayed at the Hampton.
