After receiving three other quotes to replaster our pool with pebble technology, a friend referred me to Tony, the owner of Bali Shores. Unlike the other contractors, Tony showed up quickly and as promised. He was very professional and friendly, and came with samples and a nice brochure of the products he recommended. We were so impressed with Tony's integrity and honesty, that we didnt even ask to see his other jobs or references. His price was less than all the others, and in one case about 50%. Once he started work, I saw him on every major phase where he spent most of the day working with his crew to be sure the customer would be happy. Each phase was completed as promised and on schedule with no hiccups and his crew were all very polite and hard working, each of them cleaning up after their days work. Tony also referred us for other pool repairs to different vendors, and their work was also excellent. At the end of the job, Tony returned to our home to be certain we were happy campers, and as you can see in the pictures we are! I was referred by two friends to Bali Shores for pool plaster. Brandon was good to work with, and the pool pebble came out great. They did a great job working with other contractors that were repairing my artificial rock around the pool. Good job. Only gripe is that there was one small missing eyeball outlet at the end of the job; all the others were replaced with new outlets, but this one was missed. I tried to get Brandon to install it for a couple months with no success; he eventually stopped responding to my texts and calls. Finally had to order and install myself. I would not use this company if I were you. There are many of great and honest pool plastering company's in socal to chose from and Bali Shore is not one of them. I completed my "owner builder" pool in Sept. 2016 and dealt mostly with Tony (owner and brother of Brandon). During consultation and application everything seemed fine, crew showed up on time and completed pebble sheen application as agreed upon. While doing research for my pool I read about issues with that can occur with finish after completion and mentioned them to Tony. Tony explained most issues occur because of "bad start-ups" and that if I use the start up company which he recommends, which does most of Bali Shore's pools, if a problems arises it will be rectified because he would know that the start up was done right. Well, I used the start-up company Tony recommended and during the second month I started noticing discoloration of my pebble finish. I called Tony and sent pics. Tony said it's not a big deal and the blotchy discolorization would disappear within a short time. Well not only has it not disappered, my entire pool finish is covered with scale after 4 months. Tony came out to see the pool 5 weeks ago and confirmed that it was scale and blamed it on the start-up. I mentioned his recommendation of the start-up company and how if any problems occurred that they will be fixed. Ha! During his visit Tony told my more than once that he is a man of his word, that's why he came out. However, he explained that my options were, "zero out," drain and acid wash or use a product that I mentioned to him, "scaletec." All were at my expense. Tony did seem concerned about my pool finish and told me that he would be in touch with me by the end of the day or "tomorrow" at the latest with info about scaletec since he has never used it. It's now 5 weeks since he came out. After several messages, texts and even a phone conversation with Brandon (who wanted nothing to do with my issue), I have not heard from Tony! The pool service/startup company I was using until yesterday says they will not return his messages either.?? He also says that the scale is do to a poor acid wash by Bali Shore after application, which is possibly why tony won't answer my calls now. So, I have the start up company and the plaster company blaming each other which is what I was trying to avoid by using Tony's recommendation. Save yourself the headache and find a better plaster company or you'll wish you did. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** It is now the following day of my initial review. I will give you an update on what transpired after my post yesterday. 30 minutes after my review I received a text from Tony stating "call your pool device guy." At that time I noticed I missed a phone call from Tony 6 minutes earlier (I remind you I have not heard from anyone from the company for 5 weeks). I immmediately returned Tony's call, he answered and said "call the national plaster council," I told him that I have spoke to them, he then said "I'm done with you." I asked Tony to "hear me out," Tony then said "I'm not gonna hear you out, I'm done with you," then hung up. As far as Brandon's reply to my review....Brandon, I never blamed your company for a bad plaster job or that I was forced to use your start up recommendation. I used Tony's recommendation because he stated that if I did that the start up would be done right and if problems arise that they will be corrected. I did contact NPC and they as well as others I spoke with said that my issue could be due to bad start up or bad plaster. My problem is that after Tony's saw my scale he assured me he would get back to me by end of that month day and work with me to get my pool fixed since he's a "man of his word." He's been ignoring me since and apparently ignoring P***y too. Now you and he are blaming each other and nothing is being done for my pool. As far as your claim this hasn't occurred in the past. Tony and P have both told my about pools in San Clemente that have recently been plastered by Bali that have scale worse than mine. read more

This plaster company did my pool under the a contract with Premier Pools and Spas. I have had a completed pool for 8 months. I had to have an acid bath on the plaster at the end of April due to an improper finish. Plaster was so rough it was taking the skin off the kid's feet. Bali did give it an acid bath 7 months ago, but the plaster is still bad. As of September 13th, 2016 the plaster is now cracking, pitting, and turning colors. The mottling is so bad that the pool looks like it is 10 years old. It was blamed on a bad start up by the pool company, but there is still discoloration throughout the pool. Bali says in their response a chemist looked at the pool? When? Did they jump the fence when I was gone? One guy came after the 2nd start-up, that was it. The only people who have seen the plaster are Michael Carson of Premier Pools and Spas, Josh (Premier), and the guy who did the second start-up. He added chemicals, etc. Two days later the discoloration started. Micheal and Josh saw it on day three. Josh's response was literally "this is why we are here? This is just mottling, it is normal". Brandon was my contact for Bali Shores, He was at our house within hours of our call. I asked for a menu of costs for the various options which he provided. He even offered some suggestions and helped with an inspector that just happened to be at the house and had a problem with the grounding. Brandon talked him out of writhing it up!! We did a full pool remodel and used Bali Shores Pool Plastering. We worked directly with Brandon most of the time. I read several other reviews and they stated he communicated clearly which is strange to me because from the beginning it was his greatest weakness. He pushed our job off to the side, didn't show when he said he was going to, always giving some excuse and poorly managed his workers. Brandon would call and say he was coming and then later say that he was unable to make it and push his arrival off to another day. We were left several times sitting an waiting for his arrival, for it to never occur. He never provided a time for people to show up making it impossible for me to say that timeliness even existed. He also asked his workers to collect money for him, which I find to be very inappropriate. When he did this, they never came in and knocked on the door, he never informed us on who to give the money to, they didn't even know. The workers would pack up after being there for about 2 hours and leave without informing anyone they were going to do so, without the money. Then he would call us, irritated, and ask us why we didn't give them the money. Our pool never worked right. After months of trying to contact people and get it fixed, we found out all of the plumbing was done incorrectly and are having to pay someone else to fix it. The plumber that was contracted put all of his trash out in front of our garage. Not next to a trash can, not in a trash can, didn't haul it away, just simply made his own pile of trash out in the front of our house in front of our garage. He had no respect for our property and that was not appreciated. Brandon also had his other workers use the side of our house as a dump. There were boxes, plastic, old pool parts etc all left in a heap for us to clean up. After they claimed their jobs were done, my husband and I had to spend a week cleaning up after them. There was sand everywhere, chunks of concrete, pipe, plastic and deco seal, everywhere in our backyard. A contractor that respects their customer's home, makes sure that it is left clean. They did not do this. Also, when painting our new rock waterslide, Jesse painted a chunk of rock that is Cal-trans safety orange. It stands out like a sore thumb. When it was pointed out, Brandon scoffed at the work and wondered why in the world anyone would ever do that. He assured us it would be taken care of. We also informed Jesse, who did the work that we would like it fixed. We have not received a return phone call, nor a follow up to fix anything! The bottom step to our new rock waterslide remains bright orange. I am not versed on all of the pool construction terms. When I clarified items on the contract (labeled "grouting") I stated "You will fix all the grouting work around the coping too right?" Brandon stated "yes, we will make it all look nice and new again." However, when the time came, he charged us an additional $450 for deco seal which was behind the coping. I understand this was a communication breakdown and a lack of knowledge on my part however, as a contractor with the knowledge, it is your job to explain that there is a difference. When one states "ALL" multiple times, and you clarify that you will make it "ALL LOOK NICE AND NEW" that means all. If you have a breakdown of what's in front of, in between on top and behind in your mind and you do not explain that there is a difference to your unknowing customer, you are doing bad business!! When another problem arose, Brandon and Tony were less than accommodating. They do not have a business philosophy that the customer is always right. It was made clear to us that we were not their priority and our happiness mattered none to them. We worked very hard to rectify the situation and they made it clear to us that our business was not at all important to them. We were treated like an inconvenience. Less than important. Like they were doing us a favor. All in all, I am VERY dissatisfied with the professionalism of this company. I DO NOT recommend them. (I write this after completely remodeling my entire house and adding a second story and landscaping front, side and back yards. I have spent the last year working with contractors, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, etc.). This company so far has been the most disappointing choice in our process. When hiring a contractor, you put so much trust into them. You hope they will do their best, respect your home, your property, your family etc. It is so heartbreaking when this does not happen. read more

I went with Bali shores after speaking with multiple pool companies. They were the only one that seemed honest and said I did not need a new pool filter. We wanted to have our pool remodeled and add an inground Jacuzzi. Brandon was always in communication with us and met his timelines. The only problem we had was with the concrete guy that they recommended. The job would've been finished in six weeks but because the concrete guy kept postponing it was finished in the eight week timeline. At first Brandon made it seem like I was on my own with the problem with the concrete guy. Then once he realized that he was putting us on the back burner he did step in. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS !!! The salesman was personable but a liar none the less. They promised to take my old filter and pump away... FAIL.. They promised and contracted to replace my existing tiles but would not do it they way is was. FAIL.. I had to go buy 3 x 3 tiles and when the guy they sent agreed to do it, they warned him off. Brandon wanted to use diamond shaped tiles 1 foot apart and that doesn't match. I finally had to spend more money to get 3 x 3 for the steps on my own and halt progress until done to my specs. Just like what was there before. Deck o seal was not white as before, the guy used gray without my approval and did a crappy job at that. leaving two 8 " gaps unfinished at the sides of the step up the on deck. Brandon said " it's not defective so it stays!". The salesman (Josh) originally agreeing to handle the start up. FAIL... "it's not my responsibility" said Brandon. Salesman misrepresentation ?. The plaster guys did an ok job but I still have no replacement skimmer ring promised personally by Brandon. FAIL... I had to get that done on my own too. The best part of this whole nightmare was ANGEL, who actually did a great job on the section of deck that was replaced. But he is not part of bali shores , just a sub. At least he was willing to help. Bali shores has no concept of customer service after money changes hands. "It's not in the contract" Brandon told me but these thing were promised. Buyer Beware !!. If you don't care about spending extra money and being told " you're just frustrated" when they won't do as they said they would, and like to argue over services agreed to ...use them at your own risk. Total estimate was 6028.00. 5528.00 of which had to be paid BEFORE they even plastered. Take the time to shop for a company that might actually want you to be happy instead of feeling frustrated. We were referred to Brandon by another contractor who didn't want to take on a "smaller" re-plastering and re-tiling project such as ours. Brandon was more than willing to give us a proposal and written estimate of the work to be performed, including an extensive evaluation of pool plumbing that was over 30 years old. Unlike other reviewers on this site we found Brandon to be accessible, honest, and ready to communicate good and (occasionally) bad news as our project progressed. His pool plumbing expert turned out to be just that--someone with 30+ years of experience who knew exactly what repairs/replacements needed to be made to our system and made intelligent and cost-effective recommendations. Since we were elevating our shallow end to accommodate young children that used our pool, Brandon secured a concrete contractor that did an excellent of job of preparation and installation of the shelf including a courtesy step that we didn't think to include. His tile installer was a true artisan--took great care to ensure that tiles fit properly with minimal grouting and clean corners and joints. The re-plastering job was truly outstanding. We had a large crew of plasterers that knew exactly how to install and finish the pool surface. The extensive burnishing work that they accomplished on the surface was so good that our pool maintenance company told us that they needed half the time and chemicals usually required in starting up a pool in order to get ours back up and running--little plaster dust to contend with and few, if any, trowel marks or rough edges. It was apparent that his crew took a great deal of time and pride in their work. Brandon's follow-up was ongoing throughout the project and after it was completed. He was accessible via telephone and texting as well as in person . . . and not just to pick up a check. For us he was solicitous, concerned about our satisfaction with the work, and available to answer any questions or concerns we had during the project. Our one major issue was securing parts for the in-pool cleaning system that took longer than anticipated and set us back over two weeks. All in all, a small price to pay for securing the right parts and rejuvenating an effective pool cleaning system.
