I have held off doing a review of this builder for a LONG time. We had issues with the deck almost immediately, which in fairness they compensated me for, however the deck still is an issue after doing an overlay. Now we have rebar coming through! Stacked stone is loose and coming off in many areas. Pool is only 5 years old. With the results that I got I would have been better off doing owner builder and just hiring the subs myself. It contains a "non-disclosure agreement" paragraph in which you will agree to pay $300 per day for reviewing the company here or anywhere else. (See below.) There will always be issues that arise in a major construction, but Kevin and Luis made sure to address our concerns. We found that it helped to be as informed in the specifics of our project as possible, and patient. Service is just not good. They are quick to call for payment but not willing to help after they are done. It's only been like 2 1/2 months since my pool had been finished but they didn't come do a walk through never a call. We've been calling for over 2 weeks they forgot to put our pump that keeps our pool flowing with water. And they just don't care don't come out always doing some thing more important then the customers. Just bad service. Kevin and Tracy are just horrible service. It was a good start when the consultant was designing the pool. He worked with us incorporating the design. We have in mind and pen it down. Hell broke loose when the actual construction started. If I wasn't checking daily, there will be tons of mistakes. The workers are not looking at the plan but they go by what they were told by their boss. I was expecting d owner to supervise the work but Kevin only showed up when we call him because of certain problems or when he's getting the payment. We were not satisfied. Just finished in July 2014. Despite the normal stress and concerns over building a pool (not our first), the project overall finished better than expected. When we had a concern, the owner himself picked up his cell phone and things got handled. The finishing of steps, coping, stone work, tile, etc. was our biggest concern, and it all turned out BETTER THAN EXPECTED...and we were picky lol. PERFECT coping. Worst after service ever. Our pool is less than 1 year old. The spa does not retain water. It drains into the pool. The area around the pool has decorative bricks and the caulking around the bricks is cracked everywhere. I have called him at least 7 times over the 6 months and he has not showed up yet. Twice, my wife stayed home waiting for him and he never showed up or called to let us know he was not coming. He always finds excuses. One time, he even says, oh, I was just in the area but I FORGOT. When I spoke to him just before Christmas, he told me he had the IRS on the other line and did not have time to talk to me. YES, THE IRS. He never called me back. Steer clear of this business! We had the same experience as another reviewer. The consultant, Morel R., gave us an estimate after we agreed on the type of materials and needed repairs for our pool. After signing the contract, they started the job but then disappeared half way through, always coming up with excuses ("Our guys had a flat tire", etc.), day after day, even though they knew we were making daily arrangements to take our dogs to the kennel so they wouldn't disturb them. A pile of trash was left in our yard the whole time, even though they had promised to take it away. We were going on vacation and were very concerned that the job wouldn't be completed on time. After numerous calls, they finally returned, only to do a sloppy job which left our decking stained, and the mini pebbles they installed are the wrong color. The repairs--the jacuzzi jets and pool lights--were never completed. When we called Morel to ask him to complete this, he stated "They were working when I left" (not true!) and informed us that he would charge $125 just to come see what the problem was. We have decided to call a real professional to finish the job, because he obviously is not the technician he represented himself to be. read more

I will tell you to stay clear of using this company especially dealing with Morel. I spent a great deal of money and my job still didn't get finished! I had to hire a different contractor and it cost me a lot of money to fix the issues I had. They still owe me money which morel said it was in the mail. In the beginning he said he would fix any problem that arises. BIG FAT LIE!!! I'm 8 months pregnant and he put me through all kinds of stress and didn't give a care. He tries to get technical with you and makes rude comments like "I don't have a crystal ball". We called Sapphire Pools after a friend referred us. They just had their pool put in and had a great experience with Sapphire, so we gave them a shot. After calling around to other pool companies for quotes, and feeling like I was a burden rather than a customer, Kevin from Sapphire made it his priority to make us feel like family. In fact, all of his real family were part of many steps in getting the pool completed, from pulling permits to plotting the gas lines with his mom, to pool maintenance with his brother. We sat with Kevin on a Saturday planning the pool, and signing the next weekend. Permits were pulled by Tuesday and digging started the following Friday. Fast and easy. Kevin and his team were professional and super patient with us, since we had a ton of questions as a new pool customer. The job was done in 6 weeks and it is just an amazing pool. Our first meeting was with Peter and he was very informative about the whole process since it was our first time getting a pool. We had contacted about 5 different pool companies, but Sapphire gave us the best price for everything we wanted. After choosing Sapphire, Kevin (the owner) was helpful throughout the process. It would have given them more stars because the pool seems fine so far apart from the plaster is very patchy looking and a crack in the coping that Kevin says is normal and not really fixable! I'm just hoping the pool holds up better than their after sales service. The job took a couple of months with a 2 week period in the middle where nothing much was going on but it was finished pretty much on time. I called Kevin numerous times asking him to 1. grade the rock hard lumpy earth left beside the pool by the Bobcat, he never did and 2.give me a demo of how to maintain the pool and equipment. Sapphire Pools remodeled our second pool. They did such a great job on our pool in corona when we moved to Anaheim Hills I didn't even get estimates for our remodel. I called Kevin they started right away the job was finished on schedule. They demoed the pool and concrete in a week. We did new coping, tile. pebble tech, equipment, added a firepit and poured 4 trucks of colored concrete. They did such a great job our neighbors are having them do theirs now. From start to finish the job was a complete nightmare. A week after the start date someone showed up stating "he was there to bid the demo of the project". Kevin was only on the job site five times, three of the times was to pick up the check. Some of the contracted companies were showing up at our door asking for payment because Kevin wasn't paying them. We had at least seven major issues with the contractors work, when it was brought to Kevin's attention he became argumentative. We ended up taking him to the State Contractors Board where they confirmed our complaints in their report which would take approx. $9,000.00 to repair. During this process we found out that he was working without Workman's Comp insurance but his employees confirmed they were getting paid from Kevin. Looking further into his background we found he had another pool company that went out of business, he also had judgements against him from the State Contractors Board. Do not hire this company unless you are prepared to watch over the crew daily. Do not pay unless you are completely satisfied. read more

We reviewed lot of pool contractors and went with Sapphire Pool and Spa team as they were most transparent and knowledgeable of all. I had done my homework in terms of what would be my overall cost of doing a pool on my own (using multiple contractors) and they worked to be the closest without compromising on the standards of piping, pebble finish, deck finish, automation and water filter systems etc. The whole work was done as planned and with rigor of a professional pool construction company. They gave us the flexibility of choosing the kind of stone finish we want and made the pool functional within 3 months in spite of the holiday season. We were happy with the modesty of the team and flexibility to redo some of the stone finish. The final outcome was really great and with some initial learning got the hang of the settings of the water filter system, which could have been handled better during the final handover. We ended up giving them more work and they did a great job again to make the backyard look nice and beautiful.
