They don't give a number for waiting in line and mess up who really came first. Said 5 min and we can seat at the tables he is cleaning but then split tables into 4 seats and a table for two seats to seat 2 groups after us instead while five of us are here including 2 senior and 1 kid. Then one member of our party went out to move car to somewhere else where we can park for a longer wait as they gave the table out. The servers do not communicate to each other who is next customer in line, they only think the people talked to them are the first ones. We continued waiting, then the manager came out and I tried to communicate with him asking why they didn't seat us and he was so rude and lying saying we are jumping the queue which is bullshit and said he cannot break policy for us as we have 4 people instead of 5 are here. We were 5 people here while they split tables and gave out to others. And asked how long i waited because I said we waited long. He asked Did you wait 2 hours or 3 hours? No matter 30min is long or not, we waited longer than they told us. When we came no line at all and no one waited outside. There are still tables available for two people parties. And one server asked us to wait behind window as he is cleaning the table to seat in 5 min. It's not like we cut a line jumping into room or anything. Customers kept asking us whether it's ok to come in to tell server how many people in their party. And those people all get seated. Look at my previous comments. I don't know how many friends I have brought to this restaurant and posted how many instagram posts when we came. I admit the food is good but will not come here any more. And will tell friends too! The experience is awful. And it's not you hang a poster saying you are not discriminating anyone that you are really behaving the way you said. I decided to write this review as I went along having the experience of trying the restaurant. At first very nice reception, very clean atmosphere and some jazz playing on the background. As I sit down a waiter promptly hands me the menu and ask what would I have for drink, she recommends me the hot chocolate with whipped cream. I have that and at first it looks good but not I didn't liked very much, it reminded me of powdered chocolate with milk and the Whipped cream was the thickest I've ever seen in my life, I had to dig it in with a spoon in order to reach the liquid. I ordered the Cowboy Eggs Benedict and Pancakes. Everything looks very good but I didn't like the shaved meat taste. I wouldn't order it again, that said, I would like to try other items on the menu, everything looks so good, they definitely know how to make a good presentation. Overhyped. We arrived around 10am on Saturday and there was a line outside. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated which was not bad. Self-served coffee or other beverages in the back with many selections. I had French roast and almond roast, tasty. The famous coconut French toast 2/5: very disappointing. Ok, maybe they have changed ownership? This place used to be delicious, hence three stars instead of one. First of all, we were seated in room 2, near the door. I have no idea why people are not directed to exit at the airlock door in room #1. We had to keep our coats on to keep from freezing. We ordered a Greek Salad ($9) without onions. We were presented with large hunks of rusty, wilted romaine covered in onions, with tasteless feta and tomato slices, and probably the worst dressing I've ever had. My Reuben ($14) was thin, nothing like the picture on the menu. Regular-sized slices of dark rye with maybe 3 oz of corned beef fragments, a thin slice of cheese, hardly any sauerkraut, no discernable Russian dressing. My boyfriend and I live in Medford and we've been looking for new breakfast spots when Ball Square Cafe came on our radar. We called ahead on Valentine's Day morning and we're told that it's pretty much first come first serve and they were on about a 25' wait. We got there and stepped into a line, which, some people might be turned off by but we took it as a sign of a good restaurant. The owner was the host and was extremely welcoming, polite and realistic about wait times. We were sat within the 25' and greeted by an enthusiastic server who was clearly hustling all morning. The menu is large with an excellent selection of all day breakfast and lunch plates. They even have an espresso menu! We ended up going with coffee and a cappuccino to start (the cappuccino was better than I expected it to be!) For food, my boyfriend got the Tiajuana 3 Egg omelette and I got a breakfast sandwich with tomato, onion and avocado. Both meals were superb. The hi light of our order was The Delight, a sweet Belgian waffle piled high we perfectly ripe fresh fruit. To top it off, the homemade whipped cream (which is nondairy) was so good we were talking about getting it in a to go container!! Overall, this place checked every box. Amazing service, delicious food and humble ownership (the owner thanked us on our way out and was very appreciative of the business). Since Covid, I have not been going to restaurants but still supporting by ordering takeout. At this point I'd be a masochist if I keep ordering from you. I think the only reason I didn't a 5 star experience overall is because of the wait time. Been here 3 times but have to wait at least 45 minutes each time. I wish they'd have a waitlist system but it's definitely worth the wait. The owner is very attentive to those who are waiting which is good service. And the good thing is they are expanding and will soon have more seats, likely cutting wait time in half. Diving into the food itself, the portion is very large. No joke two people can share one entree and still be full. I love their banana and Nutella stuffed French toast. Their omelette and egg plates are very good as well. Going here probably saved you money since leftovers is another meal itself. They also have bottomless coffee mug that you can drink while waiting. This place has always been my go-to for brunch for my family and I. I've been going here since I was in middle school. The owner is always a pleasant guy, and always make everyone feel at ease. I could tell he puts his heart and soul into this restaurant, by seeing how hard he works. Their food is incredibly valid, and worth the hype. There's always a line every Sunday, and it's very much worth the wait. I've had an egg allergy (can't eat raw eggs, but eggs being combined with another ingredient is fine), so I couldn't really try the omelette, but the sandwiches, pancakes, bacon and waffles are off the charts. Ordered breakfast for takeout via phone & my food was ready in 20 min. The pick-up process was very smooth, and the servers were very friendly and professional. I'm not the biggest fan of french toast, but I got the famous coconut macaroon french toast since everyone on Yelp raved about it... and boy did it deliver! It was very good with a soft texture, slight crisp on the outside, not soggy, and a sweet taste but not the kind of sweet that makes you nauseous. It came with a side of whipped cream and maple syrup, which honestly were totally unnecessary since the bread is sweet just by itself. The mexican omelette was okay-- not bad but not overly impressionable. It came with a side of sour cream, and it tasted much better with hot sauce (sriracha ftw), although the omelette did have jalapeno peppers inside that kicked in here and there. The omelette was stuffed with all sorts of stuff & not soggy (everyone's nightmare) so I could tell that it was cooked very well. My favorite had to be the corn muffin though-- it had a nice gritty texture and a nice flavor of sweet corn. The portion size is HUGE & you betcha I'll be eating leftovers for lunch and dinner. The boy and I decided to grab some breakfast before he went to work. After a horrible experience with the dump Sound Bites next door, I was scared to go back to this area. But once reading great reviews on here, we decided to give this place a try. Because we went so early on a weekday, we walked right in. Ball Square is my FAVORITE brunch spot (ever?). I came in a party of 8 on a cold Sunday morning and despite the long line, Mike, personally went out of his way to greet my friends and told us the next table was ours. Once we got inside, Mike came up to us again to start some banter.
