Food for the most part was really good! Birra grilled cheese, potatas bravas, shepherd pie... yum! Reccomend! But the power bowl was a major disapointment. It was missing multiple of the ingredients advertised on the menu (greens mix instead of kale, no brussel sprouts, a teeny tiny dusting of farro)... this was a bit of a bummer, but I think I will survive. They had some yummy sounding cocktails, though we didnt try! If we ever return, we will! Our out-of-town friend said it felt exactly like he imagined a Boston bar would--so whatever that means for the ambiance! It was nice, but casual. Waiter was great! She encouraged most of our choices and was very attentive.

My partner and I stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night and were seated and served right away, even with the restaurant being fairly busy. The setting is cozy, yet elevated tavern style with bar and dining seating options. There are tons of beer options on tap, some great IPAs and sours available (we got a flight because there are some great draft options). To be honest, when I get food from a tavern it can be a hit or miss, so we were very pleased when the sandwiches we ordered were absolutely delicious! I ordered a caprese grilled cheese that could come with grilled chicken, fried chicken, bacon or no meat. I ordered the fried chicken and it was fried perfectly. Each sandwich comes with a side and there are great options to choose from. I got the mac & cheese which was baked with bread crumbs. I will definitely return, and would love to try their brunch next!

I've heard great things about this place for years and finally checked it out last night with my husband and friends. The interior is warm, cozy and inviting! We sat in the dining room at a high top by the bar, which was nice but a little too close to the tables next to us that were large groups so it was hard to hear each other at our table. I'm a beer girl but was bummed to see nothing too spectacular and many drafts allocated to a problematic brewery so I opted for a dirty martini. Food was good; think elevated pub fare. My husband enjoyed his crispy chicken sandwich with tots and I had the lamb shakshuka which was delicious but a bit misleading - on the menu, in all caps was SPICY and I didn't find it to be spicy in the least. The pita bread served with it was fantastic! My recommendation would be to offer this with a full pita and as an appetizer over an entree. Would definitely come back, hopefully more/variety of beer offerings next time! But a standout, long standing Davis Square spot!

I had a really great time here!! They were able to manage a big group well, the staff was amazing, and the food was delicious! I highly recommend coming here with a group of friends or even just as a couple. Cornbread: 10/10 This cornbread is out of this world. It came out hot and the middle was sponges and fluffy while the edges were crispy. It wasn't dry at all and the flavor was amazing. Shepherds Pie: 9.5/10 This was fantastic! The portion size is very large, and it comes in a large ramekin. The meat is very juicy and flavorful, and the layer of mashed potatoes is the perfect amount for the meat ratio. Overall this was one of the best I've had. I love how they melt cheese on top too but it was almost a little too much cheese you lost the mashed potatoes. Fried chicken salad: 8/10 The fried chicken in this salad is pretty good. The chicken is pretty flat leaving a nice ratio of meat to crispy exterior. The chicken didn't come out soggy and it wasn't dry. My one big issue was the salad was so bad. The leaves were absolutely drenched in dressing and there honestly wasn't enough lettuce for the ratio of dressing and chicken. Still a good option just not the best. Tater Tots: 0/10 Throwing this out here because I love tater tots and these were disgusting. They tasted like they had been freezer burned or gone bad and still served anyways. You could taste how old they were. They were fried nicely but the taste was gross. Please fix haha. There are TVs everywhere and the vibe here is good. I would definitely come back if I needed pub food!

Came here for brunch to meet up with my cousin who lives nearby. I made a reservation online so that part was easy. My favorite part was the mimosa flights. So fun to try the different flavors! Very cute looking too. My cousin got the chicken and waffles and seemed satisfied. Husband got the shakshuka and didn't feel full or impressed so he also got the chia yogurt pudding and liked that. I got the smoked salmon plate and likewise wasn't a fan. Unlikely to return for the food but I did like the mimosas.

While visiting family we went for brunch earlier this month. I'm not usually a brunch person but the service. and food were great (the only thing I didn't like was the bar tables and the high chairs). I had the Shakshuka, which was delicious. The Breakfast Club was also tasty. The Bloody Mary flight was a fun idea: the flights were tequila, vodka, gin and bourbon. Adults and kids will find a good amount of options (and quite a vegetarian-friendly menu).

Great spot! We love coming here on New Year's Day to enjoy brunch. The mimosa flight is a favorite of mine, and my husband enjoyed his Bloody Mary. He loved the Shakshuka! It was his first time trying it, and he'll definitely get it again. I had biscuits and gravy. I loved the gravy, but the biscuit was a bit too dense for me. Our server was friendly, and I always love the atmosphere here.

Five Horses has pub-style dining in Davis Square. The interior has a lively vibe with a buzzing bar area and a close-table dining room. We sat outside at the streetery, which had a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Good food, good drinks, good service. Prices are fair; there was an extra random charge for around $4 for something, maybe a leftover fee from covid dining days, who knows, but frankly it wasn't enough to make a deal over. I would go again on a nice day, inside is probably fun to watch local sports.

    Southern Comfort

I came here on Easter Sunday for brunch. I was with a party of 10, so we made a reservation. We were seated promptly in a large booth. I ordered the Southern Comfort, which was sausage gravy, a biscuit, 2 sunny side up eggs, and fried chicken. The sausage gravy was the best part; everything else about it was just okay. The biscuit wasn't particularly buttery or flakey, and the fried chicken was not crisp at all. How could it be when it's bathing in gravy? I didn't really understand why it was included in the dish. The best part about our meal was our waitress. She was patient with us and super nice. I wasn't too impressed with my order, but mostly everyone else in my party liked what they got. IMO, skip the brunch menu and come for lunch or dinner.

First, the beers and food sections are separate and owned by different businesses so even if you start a tab at the bar, you need to get the card back to pay for food. Seems like an inefficient system especially during peak hours but what do I know. They could look into posting a sign that makes this clear. Maybe it was a busy time, maybe they were under-staffed, but when I went to close out my tab (at the correct spot!), the bartender tossed the credit card and receipt at me and walked away. I don't want to say the tired line of how, if I was a guy, he wouldn't have treated me this way, but it was the rudest encounter I've had to date at any bar in Boston. Food: Options were pretty limited and took awhile to be ready but my cheese slice was delicious. They also had a lychee panna cotta that looked good. They move quick even with longer lines and even when they start serving beers and cocktails AND coffee at the same time. They have restrooms in the back that are unisex along with a water station. You can't take your beer into Bow's patio area, but they have the beer garden in the back and a few tables littered right in front of their entrance. You can order food from any of the nearby restaurants and bring it in with you. You cannot order food from a nearby restaurant and use their space simply to post up and eat without ordering something from them - be cool people - don't take up space if you aren't supporting them in some way. There's so many regulars that you'll get to know a few people if you go often enough. Everyone's super friendly. My dog gets bored as soon as I pull out my laptop to work, but he's made plenty of friends there too, so he still gets excited and pulls me to their doors whenever we're in Bow. I love their espresso (and I'm picky) and I don't usually do iced tea, but their blood orange hibiscus iced tea is amazing, esp on a hot day. Interested in trying their margaritas at some point.
