The Huckleberry Pimm was perfectly refreshing for the sweltering weather, and everything else was cooked to perfection. I thought I was going crazy (or had covid lol) because each dish that came out was missing acid? It all tasted a bit heavy and a bit similar. I asked strangers next to me what they thought and they agreed that it lacked acid. The only dish that had almost enough was the chilled asparagus soup. Lamb was cooked great on the lamb dish, but being paired with a Smokey purée, earthy lentils, charred broccolini, and more heavy lamb sausage was just... odd. I've never had a bad dish here--they always have something new, seasonal, and unique on the menu, and I appreciate that they feature local and seasonal produce. The Smoked Trout Toast was also very solid, with a nice smoky flavor and good texture. The Tennessee Caviar felt more like a "try it once" dish, nicely presented, but not the most memorable in terms of taste. For mains, we had the Sea Captain, which was fresh and well-executed, with a clean, refined seafood flavor that fits the New American style. For drinks, both the Rosa Rossa Collins and Remembering Ophelia were well balanced and a great start to the meal. Had the 6 course chef tasting menu for $80 and really enjoyed the food and experience here! None of the dishes were life changing by any means but everything was purely delicious! It was as if every individual ingredient was a star on its own, but then VERY complementary when combined together, and sourced directly from the farm the very same day. There was also not a single ingredient that had overshadowed another. In my opinion, this is NOT easy to do at all and the chef (Chef Robert) did a really excellent job with this! My personal favorite course of the night was their fried whole belly clams served on a buttery pastry tart shell with fresh corn kernels, shishito peppers, and jalepeno aioli. This was an awesome combination of flavors and textures and was SOOO comforting and addicting. One of my favorite meals that i've had so far this year! To start, the service was great, no notes there. The atmosphere was lively inside, but not too loud. I really enjoyed the first thing to come out, the acorn squash salad, with my favorite part being the brussel sprouts. The moules frites wasn't on the online menu, but we ordered it and it was a more generous portion than expected! Super tasty, but the fries might get a bit soggy at the bottom. Overall, still great and I'd get it again for sure. For the main, I got the miso-braised cabbage. Again, it was really good and it was kind of fun to eat the cabbage layer-by-layer. In all, there are several $$$+ options on the same block as Season to Taste, and this place is as good as any of the others. I originally got introduced to season to taste during Covid. When no one could go out to eat and everyone was ordering in. We ordered a few times from season to taste and the food was to die for! I was always impressed with how good it was even just as take out. I went for the first time in person recently and was just as blown away. The food was incredible. I wish I could speak to the food at this place. I made reservations to take my daughter and parents for dinner for her graduation. The reservation was for outside as there were no inside seats. I emailed about a week prior to the reservation to asked to be moved inside due to pending rain. I never received a response. I figured the restaurant must have covered outside seating. I received a call two hours (!!!) before our reservation saying they were canceling our reservation due to rain and had no way to accommodate us. What terrible management! My husband and I went out to dinner at season to taste on Mass Avenue in Cambridge for our 19th anniversary in September. It is a beautiful and intimate space with an open kitchen. The service is casual and friendly, but very attentive. The food was phenomenal and fresh using local ingredients that are in season . There was so much on the menu we wanted to eat that we ended up ordering way too much and had to take some home. Oops! There are two ways to eat here. You can order a small plate as an appetizer and then an entrée. Or you can eat tapas style where you order two or three plates per person. The cocktail list was very inspired and had many interesting offerings. This is a great restaurant for a special occasion or just for a casual but higher end dinner. What had the potential to become my go-to spot for drinks and food in Cambridge quickly turned into one of the most uncomfortable and inhospitable dining experiences I've ever had. Despite the lively, loud atmosphere filled with conversation and laughter from other tables, I -- sitting quietly alone in the corner, facing a wall/window and on FaceTime with a single guest -- was the only person singled out and approached by the general manager (I believe his name is Nick). Rather than creating a welcoming environment, this manager made it abundantly clear I wasn't. He told me to keep it down, despite the fact that the noise from other patrons was literally echoing off the walls. It was so loud, I could barely hear my call -- yet no one else was told to lower their volume. Why was I the only one targeted? It felt discriminatory, petty, and completely out of touch with how a manager should behave. I came prepared to enjoy a full meal and a relaxed experience, but that moment killed any comfort I had. While my server, Andrew, was incredibly kind and attentive -- a true professional -- it's a shame his efforts are completely undermined by such unprofessional, antagonistic management. Honestly, Andrew deserves a much better place to work, where his talent and warmth aren't overshadowed by the poor judgment of the person in charge. I strongly encourage others to think twice before supporting a restaurant where the general manager goes out of his way to make paying customers feel unwelcome. There are plenty of places in Cambridge that know how to treat guests with basic respect -- this, unfortunately, is not one of them. read more

Tried tennessee caviar (3/5 more focus was on the potato for sure), salmon belly poke (3/5 bit heavy on the sauce and not enough salmon), snap pea salad (5/5 yum), nettle gnocchi (5/5 so so good), fritto misto (4/5 pretty good and standard but small), crispy pork ribs (4/5 yummy but sauce is a tad too sweet and salty), halibut (3/5 pretty dry and overdone), fried half chicken (4/5 a touch too sweet on the sauce), cider glazed pork chop (4/5 a bit too acidic), ny strip steak (5/5 delicious), and maple crème brûlée (5/5 so good). Turned out to be a good pick. Clean chic restaurant. Friendly staff. Started off w the cheddar and thyme biscuits. Oh it was warm n so good n flavorful. The pimento cheese butter went well with it. We also shared the shredded kale salad and winter citrus salad. They both were so fresh.' The candied walnuts gave a nice twist to the citrus salad. The kale had squash croutons which were really good. Never had squash croutons before. For entrees we had the pan seared stripped bass , roasted wild salmon n lentil and butternut squash casserole. The salmon was delicious w the porcini stuffing n okra. Quite different The . Kohlrabe latke went well w striped bass n was v tasty. Lentil n butternut squash casserole was so good n filling . I was really impressed with Season to Taste. My husband and I can be harsh critics but I can't say a bad thing about it! We went in for a 6:45 tasting menu at the kitchen counter. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Chef Harris was working the line and actually served us a few courses. From start to finish everything was superb. We don't do tasting menus often so it was a real treat. The first course was a scallop crudo (something I never would have ordered) it was delicious! We also had a French onion soup with beef tallow perfect for a cold night. The yellow beet carpaccio with grapefruit and pistachio, monkfish in a savory broth that melted in your mouth, lamb chop with a jalapeño salsa verde and sun choke latke which I loved and to finish the meal, I got the maple crème brûlée and my husband got the bread pudding with ice cream which I would HIGHLY recommend. The Sea Captain dish was light and fresh, but could've used a lot more flavor. The salmon dish was such a small portion, so only order this if you have a tiny appetite. Just had a fantastic experience seated at 2 of the 6 available Tasting Course seats that overlook the open kitchen. Chef/Owner Robert Harris brought each dish over and explained the ingredients, inspiration, etc. We enjoyed each dish thoroughly but two stars of the menu my wife and I both agreed on were the Roasted Chestnuts over Pimento cheese, and the Scallop Crudo. The flavor and texture combinations served up during each course displayed how much attention to detail and the chef has taken on each dish. We did not leave hungry like some fancy tasting menus. Came here for my boyfriend's birthday because we were planning to see a band at lizard lounge nearby. We had never heard of Season to Taste. Our server was incredible, attentive and quick. We got cocktails, the rhubarbie (refreshing gin drink) and the que sera (smoky tequila drink) were our favorites! We started with the smoked trout toast and the nettle gnocchi. The gnocchi was perfect, nice and fluffy with a good amount of truffle and the cutest baby mushrooms. The trout toast surprised me, like lox toast but with the perfect amount of seasoning and the fun pops from the roe eggs. We finished with the crispy half chicken and the beef duet. The crispy half chicken skin was absolutely crispy and slathered in a delicious hot honey. Could have done without the sweeter cream base surrounding it - but still enjoyed it thoroughly. The beef duet - brisket was out of this world and the steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Everything else lacked flavor or had a flavor element that made it not cohesive to the taste. For example the tuna crudo was soft and savory with tobiko but the roasted lemon over powered the other flavors and made it bitter. The mushroom dish we had great forest mushrooms but seemed boiled and not fully seasoned. Earthy tones were subdued as well. Good ingredients. Mediocre flavors and execution. Presentation was solid. The restaurant is a little in the middle of nowhere so use their website to see where to park or be dropped off. Service: 3.5/5 Oddly this was probably the biggest issue I had with the place. Our waitress would just come by and ask us what we wanted to order, she didn't even attempt to explain the menu or what's popular or what the restaurant was known for. When we asked her about the wine list, instead of getting someone who knew the wines she said she doesn't drink red wine and has no idea and left it at that. We had to literally pry for any additional information regarding the food. Really awkward. Food: 4/5 We shared a whole spectrum of items on the menu so I feel like we got great exposure despite not being guided into choosing any dish. Our table favorites were the Parisian Gnocchi (so well made), the truffle fries, and the salmon. The crab cake was okay, not as good as they make them in Maryland, and kind of an unexpected mix of flavors. The salmon was well cooked over a gumbo that was flavorful. We also shared the lamb and duck dish. I think our table felt that though good, the lamb was a little too rare and the duck was average. The chocolate tart dessert was yummy and the three wine bottles we shared were also good picks even though we weren't sure what we were picking. I went to Seasons to Taste located on 1678 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge, MA. This upscale dining spot features a rotating menu based on seasonally available products from local farmers and fishers in the Boston area. For drinks we had the blue dress and Que Sera. The Blue dress was absolutely delicious and had peach, chamomile-infused vodka and lemon 10/10 (also I just love the blue color). The Que sera are for all you spicy margarita lovers! It had serrano-infused tequila and passion fruit 8/10. For starters we had the crispy pork ribs (this was a star dish of the evening) these had a crispy crust with a morimoto glaze and pickled jalapeños 9/10. We also got the nettle gnocchi which was a unique/healthier spin on a normal gnocchi pasta dish. This had seared mushrooms, pea shoots and basil 6/10 (reminded me more of a veggie tot!). Finally, we had one of their seasonal dishes the fluke tiradiot. I've never had fluke before but this dish was sensational. The fluke were lightly marinated in ponzo and had an avocado crema sauce paired with it. If you are visiting this spot soon I highly recommend ordering this while its on the menu 8/10. For main dishes we got the Nancy's Arepa and the Country Captain. Nancy's arepa had soffritto, beans, rice, cotija cheese, and lime crema. I loved the presentation on this dish and everything tasted excellent 8/10 (you can really tell they put a lot of attention to detail on this). However, out of the two main dishes the Country Captain was the star. The coconut curry was tasty and the fried chicken was juicy 9/10. For dessert we got the wild blueberry Crème brûlée 8/10 (I am a sucker for this one) and their dessert cornbread 5/10. I personally was more of a fan of their Crème brûlée 8/10 as I did not think the other dessert had much flavor to it (something was unfortunately lacking-maybe the cornbread was just too cakey!). The place is nice and intimate with and has 2 restrooms, and that may cause a bit of trafik but not in an annoying manner. We had a custom made menu with a choice between mains of steak, fish and vegetarian. A classic evening that went well.
