I do not recommend this practice. They always start appointments late. The office staff seems are unhappy and challenging to work with. One of my children had a significant dental issue that the practice missed. On one occasion I brought my 18 month old twins for their visit and the office did not allow me to bring my striker back. They told me that my husband should have come with me. On other occasions my small children were not allowed to use their restroom. My young children were required to go into the bathroom to wash their hands yet weren't allowed to use the toilet which was especially a problem considering my appointments were always started so late. I also didn't like that a dental assistant cleaned my children's teeth rather than a hygienist. I wish that a hygienist would have at least peeked at his teeth. She told me she was not able to do certain things. I think the most significant issue I encountered was that that my kids weren't very comfortable with this dentist. One time I had to cancel due to my child having pneumonia and they were not at all understanding and said they still had to charge me. The dentist himself always took a long time to come out and look at my children's teeth after their cleanings were done. On a positive note, the dental assistant and the hygienist were wonderful. read more

The environment here is great. Very welcoming to kids and their families. My son loved the little play area and the decorations everywhere. He was quite nervous each time he went and didn't seem to build a report with the staff but they were all very nice from a parent perspective. Unfortunately my experience here netted quite a few visits that I ultimately felt weren't needed and a 2nd opinion confirmed that. Additionally I took my son in expecting him to have two cavities filled and instead he came out missing two different teeth. As I signed the paperwork without reading it completely I accept responsibility for not catching it upon arrival but, the schedule I was provided for his treatment plan differed and I was not notified of the change ahead of time. When I asked why I was told that the dentist had the option to reorder the treatment plan however he saw fit. My son was somewhat traumatized as a result as I had built him up to expect one thing but something else was done. While the staff was polite in explaining the situation, it left me with a bad taste in my mouth and not wanting to return. read more

I was so nervous about bringing my 6 year old for his first apt, bc I'm just behind the times at getting him in for his first cleaning...thought I would get scolded for that. Every single person from the front desk to Hannah that worked with him and the dentist, are the nicest people! They explained everything so well, and to my son...not to just me. They made him feel important and special...and at the end, he left with a whole bag of goodies! It's the little things that make a difference to me and for my 6 year old to leave and say, "I really like the dentist!", is a big deal bc he absolutely hates to brush his teeth! read more

I adore this office!!!! We went to 4 different dentists with our son who has special needs until we finally found Dr. Scott and his team. They handle my son's behavioral issues calmly and are so loving every time we go in. Dr. Scott has been great about suggesting measures to help keep my son safe and calm during visits (Valium, papoose, laughing gas) and also with gradually removing these measures over time. He is really one of the few professionals I've met who didn't believe my son would need things like pre-medication for the rest of his life. Instead he built a relationship with him and worked to help him feel comfortable. The staff here also keep my bank account in mind when discussing treatment plans, which I am grateful for since my kiddo has serious issues with his teeth. We moved farther away but I refuse to leave this office, they are just too amazing and make me feel like family when I come in. read more

Please listen to Jennifer G. It saddens me that Dr. Scott Weinstein is still able to practice. I have been traumatized due to the visit that my son had with him when he was 5 years old. He was given Valium (supposedly to calm him) I was told that he had several cavities requiring a surgery to be done at the hospital. 11 years later my son still has no cavities. Please protect your child...stay away. He takes advantage of insurance policies and I pray God someone reports him. I certainly wish I would've known at the time to do so. The city has good dentist that'll be good to your child and make it so that both parents and their children have a good dental experience. I'd recommend Charlotte Pediatric Dentistry. (University Area) However, they also have several locations throughout Charlotte and the surrounding area. While the staff at this office have always been very courteous, I can't recommend this office. The dentist won't allow parents to accompany their kids to the back during appointments no matter what the circumstances, he insists on making young kids take Valium before each appointment, constantly uses a papoose board to restrain them, and the staff is horrible about returning phone calls. Other than basic x-rays, there was never an appointment my kids had in this office when they didn't come out crying, and I will not subject them to such awful treatment again. read more

Dr. Scott told me my daughter had a cavity and strongly suggested we come back later the same day to have it filled. He said she would need gas and I couldn't go back with her. I scheduled the appointment to go back lather that day two hours after her cleaning. I rode around and called my sister (a hygienist) and she suggested I get a second opinion. We went to another dentist the same week and my daughter had no cavity. 2 years later she still has no cavities. read more

We are so sad today... We have been going to Ballantyne Pediatric Dentistry for 2.5 years and I took my 5 year old to get her first cavity filled and to my surprise they don't allow you to go with your child to the back while the procedure is done. My girl was super fine going to the dentist up to this point. We read books about it, she never cried, always let the cleaning to be done with no problems. She was never afraid because I was always by her side.... but today.... First I was told that the assistant that walks her to the back will never leave her side, so I kept a good attitude and cheerfully told my girl that this was the way to do it and we would get ice cream afterwards. They took her to the back to 40 min later the person that was not supposed to leave her side comes to the front with another girl to tell me that my girl was getting upset... Understandable, right? She is 5! And she is there with 4 other people that she doesn't know.... The assistant also told me the doctor wanted to give her Valium to sedate her so she would be easier to work with.... She told me: IT WILL ONLY LAST FOR 6 HOURS..... Are you serious? I said NO and asked to go back there and just tell her to put her hands down and let the dentist do his work. I am the kind of parent that if something needs to be done go ahead and do it. But I really think I have the right to walk to where my child is and talk to her. THEY DID NOT ALLOW ME TO GO SEE HER. But I told them:Just get it done.... Another 40 min went by and they come to the door with my child :-( and tell me: "here she is!" I greet her and think everything was done but NO. After a little bit someone else come and says: "Since she didn't let us do the work we will have to set another day..." Seriously? After 1:20 min? Then Dr. Scott comes and says he couldn't do because she would get upset when they put the mouth piece in her mouth.... I told him I would like the procedure done because I took her out of school and if he allowed me I would go with her and she would get it done. He said no.... And told me he was not gonna change his mind as well as I was not going to change mine so I should go SOMEWHERE THAT PLEASES ME! On top of all that we still had to PAY for the gas that was used for nothing... I left there shaking... It was very upsetting. ... Don't go there if you care about your kids.... read more

I would recommend AGAINST this dentist for your children. I believe Dr. Scott is just out to make money off your children. He diagnosed my 3 year old with 2 cavities and him and the staff were very pushy for me to get them filled right then and there. They also told me I would have to stay in the waiting room and could not go back with her at all. I was overwhelmed so decided I talk with my husband and then call to schedule the appointment on a later day. We had just moved here so I called my dentist back home for advice. I decided to seek a 2nd opinion and the 2nd dentist found NO SIGN OF ANY CAVITIES. NOTHING!!! Do not go to this practice. read more
