Hunt and peck through a selection of scratch and dent and one offs . I was shocked... the way the reviews pegged this place it was like the Holly grail of high end furniture at discounted prices. It turned out to be a mismatch of scratch and debt one off stuff. Not too much to see and it certainly did not take hours to look through as one review suggested. There just was not much worth much! It is a stack it up, hunt and Peck, display of stuff that is only for those liking to spend a lot on items that are messed up. Love this store. Ballard's regular retail store tends to be pretty pricey, so the outlet store makes decorating your home much more affordable. We decorated one of our rooms several years ago, and bought nearly everything at the outlet store, in addition to our Christmas decorations that we love and use every year. We just recently re-did our family room and got some beautiful pieces here- all in very good shape. Some of the items at the outlet store have a few cosmetic blemishes, usually easily repaired or disguised. Many have no visible damage at all. Bottom line, if you're looking for long-lasting, quality furniture that rivals Pottery Barn but a bit smaller and a more personable feel, this is it. This is one of those places that you can not go in looking for a very specific item. They may have it but it may not be in the right fabric or color. But, if you have an open mind, good imagination, and are somewhat creative then the possibilities are endless. On the day I went, the entire store was 40% off and select things were an additional percentage off. They have a limited fabric selection and someone to assist with choices and how much is needed for your project. They will hold items for 4 hours and if you purchase something, you have 2 days to pick it up. Some items are damaged, while others are in new condition, just returned or maybe a floor model. I had been dreaming about visiting BD for over 10 years while I lived in CA. Once in awhile I would receive the catalog and fantasize about purchasing something, ANYTHING, from here! Fast forward to present day- I recently moved to Georgia and learned there was a Ballard Designs Outlet Store less than an hour from my home! I set aside a full day for my first visit and it was well worth it! I purchased several items to decorate my new Southern home and spent less than $200! While I love going to this store, each time is a treasure hunt, I have stopped going. It is over an hour drive for me and when I arrive they have NO bathroom facilities open. While I understand the need to be cautious it baffles me that all other retail establishments I go to manage to have their facilities open. I am a 68 year old woman and find it impossible to shop without this necessity. read more

VERY OVERPRICED! I've been in this store several times, and while I continue to go in hopes of finding a decent piece at a decent priced, I've yet to run across one. MOST of the wooden furniture has huge scratches, holes or chunks missing, and the prices are outrageous. For example, just to give you an idea of pricing- a desk with a corner missing ( which in my opinion is not easy to "fix" or cover up unless you're a professional woodworker) may cost you $500+ I wouldn't even pay $100 in the state it's in... They do have very nice bar stools and chairs, but don't plan on finding a full set, most of the time they may have 2 matching ones. I'ts not a super bad place to shop, you just have to be prepared to repair most furniture pieces, and be willing to pick through left overs for accessories. read more

We have bought numerous items from the Ballard Outlet over the years and have been very happy with everything. It does take some persistence to visit frequently and look because it is a true outlet. Somethings are damaged and others have scratches that can be hidden or positioned out of sight. You just need to have some creativity. Other items are in perfect condition. Our find this Memorial Day Weekend was beautiful Dupioni Silk Drapery Lined Panels at 60% off!!!!! They are now hanging in our guest bedroom and look stunning!. We are now waiting for them have more two drawer wood filing cabinets so we can make a new desk and supplement the many we already have in our office. read more

I love this store! You have to go often to see the ever changing inventory but the sales on the already reduced prices are great! LOOK over the stuff thoroughly since there is a NO return policy but the sales people will help you unload boxes to be sure your item isn't damaged. I have many great finds! I've bought a few nice pieces here at a steep discount. A nice clock that was way overpriced in the catalog was finally affordable here- and it still works several years later! I have bought a couple of small furniture pieces too- minor imperfections, but couldn't resist because the price was right. A lot of the merchandise is heavily damaged, and they allow no returns, so do a thorough inspection. Love the decor- but would not recommend going during COVID. They only let a few people in at a time- even if you wait over an hour outside in the heat (over an hour before closing), they will close their doors right at 6 and not allow you inside. I felt like they disregarded customer service completely. Also, checking out takes very long and creates a long delay. It was not worth the time to try and shop here. I would order online. read more

Lines are ridiculously long regardless of time of day. They are being overly cautious in only allowing a few people in at a time, have been a loyal customer for years but not worth the time . prices are much higher as well which I guess is due to loss of sells as who has time to stand in the rain for an afternoon. read more

If you're a fan of the Pottery Barn or Ethan Allen aesthetic, you'll love local favorite Ballard. There's an outlet in town too (on Defoors), but it's worth the trek OTP to find this gem. Sofas. bookcases, media centers, desks, chairs, dining tables, coffee tables, rugs, light fixtures, artwork and linens, it's all here, packed literally floor to ceiling. The storefront is deceiving, as the space itself goes wayyyyyyy back. Ballard quality is mixed, but expect to find sofas for around $1,000, coffee tables for $250, and buffets/hutches for $300-500. These are about the same quality as what you might find at a TJ Maxx Homegoods, but with way more selection to pick from. Worth visiting often, as stock fluctuates several times a week. read more

If you like Ballard and Designs . Fleur de lys design elements. I guess somewhat french inspired and don't mind the item may be a customer return, clearance, dinged or broken this is a great place. They usually have a sale of some sort going on every time I pop in there. From accents, furniture, rugs , picture , lighting all sorts really this is a great place to stroll through once in a while. I bought some desks here for next to nothing. You have to haul the stuff off so anything big make sure you bring a truck. They will help you load it. Wow, this place is amazing. If you like Ballard Designs and drool over the catalog but can't afford it, this is the place for you. The inventory changes constantly since it's all returns or damaged items or overstocks, and there are great deals to be had. We bout two gorgeous China cabinets with significant damage my husband was able to repair. Yes, we spent hundreds, but we got thousands of dollars worth of furniture we will use and cherish for many years to come. False advertising in store 23 JAN. Multiple signs "Assorted Letters All Styles" and "ALL LETTERS $1", but store would not honor pricing on some letter types. MOD said she was preparing new signs that cited non-$1 letters, so she clearly knew it was a screwup and still didn't make it right. Will not return, and will tell everyone I know. read more

We went today and were pretty disappointed. The furniture items are mostly overpriced pressboard (even with 30% off current sale). As I thought Ballard catered to the upper echelon of consumers I just figured the items would be substantial and well made... They weren't. The home decor items were very picked over and also overpriced. If I were in the area I might swing back by, but we drove an hour specifically for the store and would not do that again. read more

I visit Ballard Designs occasionally and have purchased a piece now and then but their pricing baffles me. They charge outrageous prices for pieces of furniture so damaged that I would turned it down if it were placed on the curb for garbage truck haul away! This is a great place to find a deal on items from the Ballard Designs catelog. It is a hit or miss situation. Sometimes there are crazy cheap prices on items still in the box and other times there are pretty high prices on scratched, damaged items. However, if you have the right place and/or mindset about items with flaws/imperfections, you can score a BARGAIN! I bought an $800 table for $124 -- with teens in the house, it is going to get banged up anyway so nicks & scratches were not a big deal. I have had to buy the chairs two at a time, watching and waiting for them to hit the store. I LOVE the customer service -- I was so excited about my bargain on the table that I did not check my receipt and was overcharged for 2 chairs.
