Having just moved back to St. Louis from the east coast, I unfortunately did not have a dentist when I took a 6X6 wood post to the face during a construction job. One of my 6 veeners (one right in the front, of course) was the unfortunate casualty. I made a couple of appointments for consultations in the area, one of which was at Ballas Dental Care. I had feared that I would need to replace more than one veneer in order to get them to match, but when I spoke with Dr. Haines, he seemed certain that he would only need to replace the chipped one. His chill personality and understated confidence made me believe he was the man for the job...and apparently I'm an amazing judge of character and skill because the replacement he put in blended seamlessly with the existing 10-year-old ones. :) Side note: I also received my first ever filling at Ballas Dental Care and have concluded that the dread that I felt every 6 months that my cavity-less streak would end was completely unwarranted. I have been going to Ballas dental care for almost two years now and I couldn't be happier! I first heard about Bellas dental care on the old Frank O. Pinion show. One of the things that was appealing to me was that In the promos that Frank did for them he talked about how good they were but also how non-judge mental the employees there were. That appealed to me. Unfortunately I had quite a bit of dental work that I needed to have done but, fortunately I feel like I chose the right place. From the dentists to the dental assistants to the staff up front, everyone made me feel welcomed there. As embarrassed as I was about the state of my dental work, there was not one time that I felt that way there. They are 45 to 55 minutes away from where I live but I don't hesitate to continue using the services. I love what they did for me and I would recommend them to everyone. read more

Best dentist office in St Louis. They helped me through a difficult TMJ experience where others all over town didn't have the expertise. Dr Watanabe is amazing and helped me get back to normal. He did this without charging me anything. Recently I had my teeth cleaned and again was overwhelmed at the level of skill, and expertise that went into it. My teeth have never been cleaner. Heather is awesome at what she does. The entire crew regardless of who or what you need all go well beyond good service. I've converted my entire family and each has thanked me for doing so. I had root canal at this place last year, and my tooth kept hurting during The whole process but they said i was fine. Until now the tooth still hurts, but I already moved to another city so I visited another two dentist, they both said I have to do the root canal again. Chip seemed like a nice guy but I really never had a need for his services. The hygienists were fine but their work is pretty routine. You never know which one you will get there and having the same one assuming you like them offers consistency no different than keeping the same dentist each visit. My challenge was with the front desk staff. There are certain days of the week I am not able to schedule appointments. When I received the reminder for my exam it was on one of those days but in my Outlook calendar for another. I am meticulous about keeping my calendar. I called about the conflict and was told there was a problem with their system but my real frustration was the seemingly arrogant and non empathetic attitude from the staff. Due to my commitments and those of the dentist I wasn't able to reschedule for 2 more months. Wouldn't you know it, the same thing happened again. I asked the personnel to have Chip call me to discuss the situation as I was considering leaving. To my disappointment I did not receive a return call and have to assume he either didn't care or didn't receive it. One more incident worth mentioning involved my wife who had to have some crown work. I recommended she consult with Chip and she did. However, it would have cost her $1000 more to use him. Seems the dentist she had been seeing accepted the reimbursement from the insurance company as his fee while Chip wanted an additional $1000 on top of their fee. So goes the saying caveat emptor. read more

They told me I had to have all of my old silver fillings replaced that I had from childhood. I believed them and underwent this in December 2019. My cousin is a dental assistant and told me that this whole thing is BS. It was the most horrifying experience I could have imagined. I fear the dentist to begin with; They showed no compassion to me as a human and it was horrific. They said they gave me nitrous gas but I can tell you there was none. I even told the dental assistant I feel nothing and she said "that's weird, other patients have said the same thing", but they still did nothing and charged me for it. I had to go back a week later because one of my teeth hurt so bad, they were so rude and acted like I was an idiot. My teeth hurt to this day and this is so much worse than before all of this. read more

I have been a patient at Ballas Dental Care since I can remember! I have yearly cleanings & check-ups! I've had cavities taken care of, my wisdom teeth extracted (and they hadn't pushed through the jaw bone yet), and just today had a root canal. I have never had a bad experience due to their work! Every one of them are friendly & always in such a good mood that it makes it nearly impossible to be nervous about whichever procedure you need done. One important note is that it's obvious that they're not just there for the money. They make strong suggestions but never over-push the subject & show that they really care about their patients. They give you possible & realistic consequences if you choose to not follow their suggestions (ie. get braces) & allow you to make the choices based on your preference. They were great with me as a child, & are still great today in my adulthood. Thanks guys! read more

I take extremely good care of my teeth. I came there for a first time and to my surprise they found numerous cavities. I let them fix half of them but since I had my last checkup 6 months ago (and no detected cavities then) I suspected something was wrong. Two doctors said the ones I may have are SO tiny they would NEVER suggest a fix unless they grow or give me trouble. Dr Chip's assistant was rude and unprofessional, she was annoyed by my legitimate questions as she was unable to locate the supposed cavities in the x-rays. I made the mistake to accept them fix half of them on that day. Those "fixes" gave me trouble immediately after but never before. I paid about 50 dollars for each teeth after insurance. This has been the most expensive dentist I have ever seen in the US and with no ethics or quality. I wish I had never come.. I will never come back :( read more

I didn't have to wait long since it was so early but I was surprised so many people were already there ready for their appointments! My husband found Dr. Haines as he was seeking implants for his upper teeth. He got terrific service and said Dr. Haines was the best dentist he had ever gone to. After a series of unfortunate experiences with my dentist of several years I switched to Dr. Haines. He has the most gentle touch I have ever experienced and, while getting fillings on wisdom teeth is never pleasant, his replacement of an obviously failing filling was the least uncomfortable I have experienced. I've had consistently good experiences with the dental hygienists as well. They were extremely patient with our State of Illinois insurance policy, which took years to pay. My family has been patients here for over 20 years. The staff and dentist are very helpful and always concerned about us, there is never any discomfort or pain. I have 3 small kids who love the dentist and are not afraid to go. If someone is in pain they get us right in. The ladies at the front desk help us with our insurance and they are NOT expensive, very reasonable. My extended family have all switched to this office.
