Disgusting period. Ordered for pick up, get home to Pecan Waffle dumped with strawberries - enough strawberries for 10 waffles and last time I ordered it had no strawberries. had a few bananas. Soggy and not edible. Basically no waffle at all just a can of strawberries in sauce. Kind of ironic considering the name is Waffles cafe! Plain well done cheeseburgers ordered, not even close to well done but the buns were burnt! Fish and chips look like they dumped oil on it, not edible. Both were good, but typical of what we can get at home spewing out of our trusty waffle iron. Hey, when you are on the road, your waffle iron is pretty much useless, so... The warm pecan syrup was a nice addition and the reason for the extra 1/2 star. Would we go out of our way to eat here again... probably not. After reading another review I figured I should chime in. I've been here several times and it's always been good. The service is a little slow, but honestly I don't mind relaxing here while my food is being prepared. The wait staff is always friendly and very helpful. They are very good at keeping my drinks refilled. The food is always hot and fresh, they have plenty of breakfast choices. Breakfast is the best meal anyways! Nestled in Meadowbrook Mall is the lovely waffles café with the Decour is reminiscent of a little bit of Europe, a little bit of your grandma's house and a lot of bit of delicious! A buddy of mine and I got together for an early morning breakfast and were very excited by what we found. This is one of only a handful of places that are open before 8 AM, so they get extra points for that. The menu is primarily how much centric, with a number of other breakfast options like ham and eggs. I had a delicious garden i'm like that included spinach, tomato, onions and mushrooms, and some ham was thrown in for good measure. It was quite good and came with some really good crispy hashbrowns and my choice of toast! Perhaps my favorite thing about this place was the fact that you could order a half serving of the omelette for a few dollars less. Quality definitely trumps quantity, and in the case of waffles café both are high! Our food came out in seriously like 4 minutes! The speed of service, the quality of the food and the very nice waitress made for a lovely dining experience! We also found that sitting close to the door on a cold day meant we kept our coats on....well played Mother Nature! Great breakfast option! read more

My husband learned of this place through some coworkers. We were seated right away and the service was excellent - very attentive, kept our drinks filled, checked in a few times. I got the strawberry shortcake waffle and a side of hash browns. My husband had the breakfast pizza waffle. Everything was amazing! Delicious food, the waffles weren't soggy at all and had the perfect amount of toppings. Everything else I saw going to other tables looked amazing as well. The waitstaff were good. Kind and attentive. My disappointment was with the food. For breakfast, the prices seemed very high for the quality of food. The corned beef hash was canned. The scrambled eggs weren't very well made. And the biscuits and gravy were lacking in flavor and sausage. Their kids' menu was also exorbitantly priced. I think I'll opt elsewhere the next time I go to breakfast. The waffles looked fine, but why exactly do they cost over eleven dollars for one waffle? I love this place for breakfast!! I think it is definitely the place to be in Yakima for breakfast. I had the gluttonous Chicken Fried Steak Skillet. The breakfast potatoes are great...and the chicken fried steak is yummy. But what takes the gold is their gravy...super thick and full of flavor. I could put it on just about anything. Another mediocre gem of a restaurant in this town. This place is just like the others that serve poor quality pre made food and yet some how still get by with good reviews. First we ordered coffee which one would think would be hard to screw up. It had a weird taste so I notified the server and she brought us new cups. Same taste so now she tells us it's the creamer and that people are always complaining because the fake creamer gives the coffee a bad taste (you knew this at first but said nothing?) so then finally we get half n half! Why would the owners continue to do something they know people don't like? Wow cheapskates! One thing I would expect a place with the name "Waffles Caffe" to be outstanding at is waffles. Unfortunately, our experience is making me rethink eating out at all. Our first sign that this place was sub-par was the fact that it was not packed at 9 a.m. on a Saturday. I guess I'm not in Portland any more. When we arrived we were greeted at the front with a "Four today? Any smaller table..." We didn't realize at first that the hostess meant "go seat yourself, at a table for four." Just a tip - it helps to speak in full sentences to people with Oregon sweatshirts on. Generally, on the service side we had no complaints - aside from the fact that it seemed like we had four servers and didn't know who best to talk to regarding our food. But we were here for the food - and I was excited as others had recommended this place. My wife and grandmother ordered the waffle, egg, bacon dish. Basic, right? The waffles came out looking barely cooked. They were done in places and pale in others. They were returned, but the second ones weren't much better. REPLACE THE WAFFLE MAKER. Our server commiserated with us and said that nothing was really consistent out of the kitchen. That was disappointment enough (and reason for us not to return) but not much else was worth it. The eggs were coated with oil and rubbery. The biscuits and gravy were unimpressive. The bacon was cooked unevenly. I tried the jalapeno bacon - which had a good flavor, but I asked the server how they prepared it and found out it was bought in. Ho hum. This is the second Waffles Cafe I have been too, The other being the one downtown. Both are busy places. I was very pleased that you opened this one in west valley. I read the review posted and was honestly shocked if that was the case. I have never once had a bad experience at the waffle cafe. I love the fact that I am treated and welcomed as a friend when I show up. The food and service are great and it's never an excessive wait. I was the first person to complete the Ironman Challenge and have my card up on the wall. I see no reason why anyone would not stop here and enjoy the meals you offer. I do have my issues but they are minor have no bearing on my over all review. read more

June 22, 2012 Waffles Café Owner/Manager: My wife and I, school teachers here in town, have just returned from eating at your restaurant in the Meadows Shopping Center. My wife had the Jalapeno Bacon Special and I had the Chicken Fried Steak. Both meals were sub-par. The bacon was burned. Not only ours, but the table next to us also was served up charcoal. The gentleman there asked for it to be returned. The waitress was explaining to him it was the seasonings causing the color. The second batch he was served were less blackened, but still overcooked. I tasted some of my wife's, and it was more than seasoning, it was definitely burned. The second issue I have with Waffles is the embarrassingly bad frozen chicken fried steak patty I was served. You should be ashamed to even put that garbage on a plate. When you are situated next to a store where you could secure a real piece of steak, serving frozen garbage is lazy and unconscionable. You can get better quality at a Denny's, and cheaper. This meal was a total surprise. The last time I ate at your at Waffles we were served a quality chicken fried steak and the place was packed. Today there were a handful of customers in the place and we were served sub-par food. It appears that you are beginning to make the mistake of so many failed restaurants, you are sacrificing the quality of your ingredients to save a few cents. This is NEVER a successful strategy. You have managed to alienate two loyal and vocal customers. We will not be back until your establishment begins selling real food again and will be certain to mention our disappointment to all who will listen. On the positive side, table service was great. Hash browns were crispy, if servings were small. I would have gone on about how efficient the waitress was had she not pulled that "it's the seasonings causing the bacon to be black" garbage. When I leave a restaurant thinking that I would have enjoyed a generic Egg McMuffin more than the meal I just finished, you can be assured I will not be returning to that establishment for a long, long time. read more
