I had a terrible TMJ pain and sever headaches over the long weekend. So I decided to dig into the problem and treat it. This chiropractic is located conveniently to me. Dr.Masri was available to meet in my first convince . He did a good job assisting and reducing the pain in my jaw and face within one treatment. I wanted someone to adjust my jaw manually but he noticed how the area is very tense. He though I should work on it for like twice a week!! He massages the temples and jaw then suggested acupuncture right away. I did not feel the needles at all. A little pinch. He left me on the dark for like 10 minutes to relax. Then he removed the needles. He gave me a good head massage ( I wish he does more scalp). I told him my previous chiropractic had to try for five w session to get my neck cracked ( literally but it is just so tense) He adjusted my neck from the first try with ease. Very impressive!! I left feeling relived and rejoiced. He is really blessed with a healing talent. I also learned the other chiropractor does traditional Chinese medicine which is great. Really loving the chiropractic services I have been getting over the past month or so. The doctor is super helpful and good at explaining everything he does. I went when I was waking up in the middle of the night due to my back pain - and now I am sleeping through the night and have minimal pain during the day! I am very grateful for the services I have been getting. The staff is very friendly and professional! I have always been happy when leaving the office. Definitely recommend this practice! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My only complaint is that I had complained about neck pain at the beginning, but we only just started to deal with that as well - idk if that's because of how the process goes, or if we just forgot about the neck in the beginning - but I wish it would have been done sooner - since I am already starting to have less neck pain! I've been suffering from low back pain on and off for years but I'm not a big fan of popping pills on a daily basis so the idea of Chiropractic and Acupuncture to relieve my back pain really suits me. Just like medicine works differently on different people, Chiropractic and Acupuncture works differently on different people too I think. I see some people swear by its effectiveness and others not so much. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because the combination of Chiropractic and Acupuncture techniques do help relieve my back pain big time. I particularly like this place because Dr. Nguyen doesn't just "crack" your back and send you home. He shows you the type of exercise you can do, proper way to sit and walk, and etc. He tries to show you the "long-term solution" in a way. Location works great for me (close to Virginia Square metro) and they are very accommodating when it comes to setting up appointments. I especially like the fact that I can go in on Saturday morning for quick adjustment and some accu needles! So unless I change my job or move away from this area, Ballston Chiropractic will definitely be my go-to place for my low back pain. read more

I moved to Arlington three years ago and transitioned from a job that required me to be constantly up and moving to a 10-hour-a-day desk job. The combination of all the heavy lifting associated with moving and the sudden change in my activity level left me with constant neck pain. I was waking up every day with a headache, constantly realizing that my I was clenching my jaw subconsciously, and feeling fatigued and uncomfortable all the time at work. I went to see Dr. Masri because he happened to have an available appointment sooner than any of the three other chiropractors who were located closer to my apartment, and I'm so glad I did. My neck fully recovered after three visits, and waking up every day feeling good had a huge impact on my day to day life. One year later I found myself working through an unidentified medical problem with my PCP. She sent me for an echocardiogram, blood tests, several visits to a vascular surgeon, an ultrasound of my thyroid, all to no avail. I was constantly short of breath to the point that I could not walk up the escalator in the metro. I avoided printing things at work because it hurt my legs to walk to the printer across the office. I skipped an entire season of soccer games and stopped exercising all together for months. Eventually, after several months, I made the time to go back to Dr. Masri because my neck was bothering me. I mentioned to him that my lower back was also bothering me, and he adjusted it. Within two days all of my symptoms were gone. Why didn't I start with the chiropractor in the first place?? I have no idea. Stupid. Last year I moved back home to Ohio, and Dr. Masri took the time at my last visit to lookup and recommend a local chiropractor. My new guy is great, but not QUITE as great. Simply put, this is the best chiropractic/ART experience I've ever had. Not only is Dr. Masri very personable and talented, he is also a great listener and takes your concerns into consideration when determining treatment. Sam is knowledgeable in multiple techniques and has a great sense of progress since your last visit. I highly, highly recommend talking to him if you think you might need chiropractic help. As a former college athlete, I have numerous nagging injuries and imbalances that have kept me on the sidelines since graduating. Over the past 5 years, I've seen at least 4 other chiropractors and seen little more than temporary relief of my discomfort. However, after just 4 visits with Dr. Masri, I am feeling great and making incredible strides in strength and mobility. I enjoyed very much my experience with Dr. Nguyen! I recently got into a very bad car accident. Luckily my outcome was just a knee bruised and on my arm a airbag burn then the next day soreness. Coming from Upstate NY, I researched a few chiropractic practices prior to becoming a patient at Ballston Chiropractic at the beginning of my 2nd trimester of pregnancy. It is very difficult to find a practice with professionals who have extensive knowledge and great hands-on work! I have seen both doctors, and have benefited from each of their work, during my 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. I could not be more thankful for the help I have received the past 5 months! I don't often feel the need to write Yelp reviews, but Dr. Masri At Ballston Chiropractic completely deserves one. I started coming here after I pinched a nerve in my neck and couldn't turn my head. After the first session I felt immediately relief of some of the pain, and after 3 sessions the pain was gone. He has also treated some tendinitis in my calf after ankle surgery and a rotator cuff issue. I was surprised that pain and tightness could even go away as quickly as it did. His affective and spot on treatment isn't even what gets the 5 stars though. I have had a persistent knee problem for almost a year now. Throughout visiting 3-4 Orthopedic Dr.s, 2 Cortisone shots, 2 PT stints, and a lot of frustration Sam has been the LONE Dr. who I felt actually cared and listened to what I was saying. The Orthos just attempted to read an MRI, give me some generic diagnosis/shot/PT script, and send me on my way. I had read tons of material and have enough education and knowledge to know that what they kept saying didn't make sense to me and did not completely fit my symptoms. Dr. Masri listened every time I came in his office. He tried numerous techniques like ultrasound and Active Release. While none of them were ultimately successful in healing my knee he didn't just write me off like other Dr.s. He researched in HIS OWN SPARE TIME what might be wrong with my knee and made recommendations. In the end he referred me to another Ortho knee specialist, and I go in for surgery next Friday to repair cartilage that has delaminated from the bone. This doctor caught what others missed, but Dr. Masri was instrumental in that process, and supportive and knowledgable along the way. His knowledge and ability to attack problems extend far beyond that of typical Chiropractic care. read more

I recently moved to Virginia and haven't yet found a chiropractor. With a new, whiplash-type injury from this weekend, I couldn't wait for an appointment. I called this clinic at 8:30 this morning, explained my situation and was told to come right in. I arrived 40 mins later,after being greeted warmly by the office manager, I filled out all the paper work and was immediately taken back to the treatment room. Dr Nguyen was very friendly and listened to my complaints,and did a history and assessment. He used a variety of modalities to treat me, explained everything, gave me exercises to do at home, and I walked out of there with increased range of motion, less pain and an appointment for 2 days later. I purchased a discount coupon for acupuncture through an Amazon Local deal and was very disappointed. The treatment room was sterile and too bright with nothing on the walls and a telephone ringing in the room during my treatment. No one greeted me when I came in the reception area, and the acupuncturist and chiropractor both walked into the room where I was told to wait and never even acknowledged me. It's a very unpleasant place. The chiropractor came in and gave me a hard sell job to try to generate business for himself. The acupuncturist was nice, but she should be working somewhere else that has a healing atmosphere and a caring approach toward patients. read more

I purchased a coupon from LivingSocial for a 60 minute acupuncture consultation and session. I called these folks and was told that the acupuncturist is only in on Wednesdays and only until 5:30. The coupon says nothing about this. I would not have bought the coupon had I known that it would be very, very difficult for me to use. I work in the District and generally don't leave until after 6. I explained this to the person I spoke to and I did get an apology - but no effort to accomidate me or return my money. Yes - I have more than a year to use the coupon, but I have to wonder about an outfit that is less than honest about their dealings. Making it difficult to get my business is not a pathway to success. Ballston Chiropractic and LivingSocial have lost my desire to use them. read more

I have only been to one previous chiropractor so I am not an expert but I was disappointed in the localized treatment. I expected a more head to toe adjustment and the chiropractor focused only on the one part I said was my main problem. I went twice (as directed) but still have pain. My previous chiro (in another country) took full x-rays, evaluated my entire skeleton, came up with a treatment plan and always adjusted from head to toe. I felt fabulous after every treatment. I've been going to Dr. Masri since 2009 after suffering injuries sustained from a hit and run accident (I was hit by a driver while I was on my bike training for an event). Whenever I have a flare of sciatic pain from piriformis syndrome - he can "fix it". He's also fixed other injuries along the way - like the pain from my hyper-mobile sacroiliac joint, or the time I hurt my neck after wearing my legs like a back pack in yoga, or the other time I hurt my neck after another bike crash... Dr. Masri is the man. If you are an athlete, or just seem injury prone - they have the skills to take away the pain. Cupping (amazing), spinal manipulation, acupuncture, heat/ice, kenzo tape, I can't even list all of the things that have been done to keep my body healthy and pain free. He also goes above and beyond in making recommendations for other specialists (a new bike saddle that decreases pressure on my piriformis - GENIUS), and is awesome about answering questions and addressing concerns. I waited far too long -- months -- with lower and upper back pain before finally trying Ballston Chiro. Dr. Masri's work was excellent and very effective. Treatments over a course of about 6 visits included the traditional chiropractic adjustment (like cracking knuckles, but in your neck and back); heat pads on the lower back, gentle electric current stimulation on the back muscles, and acupuncture, as well as one time using glass suction cups on my back which left pretty impressive purple bruises that faded in about a week. I am not a doctor and I don't know how these treatments work, but I do know that they resulted in an 80% improvement in the pain level after the first visit, and after several weeks of treatment, I am probably 95% better. (I expect to improve with more time as I work out to rebuild my back and core muscles.) I would recommend Dr. Masri to anyone with back pain for several reasons. First, the dramatic reduction in my back pain, delivered as promised. I cannot overstate the difference in my quality of life from this improvement. Second, he's a nice person and his demeanor in the office during visits was great. Specifically, his ability to make easy conversation during the visits put me at ease and made the experience very non-threatening, which I find important when you have to trust your chiropractor to do all the handling of your head, back and neck during the adjustments. I credit not only Dr. Masri, but also Dr. Nguyen and the receptionist, Michelle, with creating a friendly, personalized, and non-intimidating atmosphere, which made every one of my visits very pleasant from start to finish, even apart from the fact that I always walked out the door feeling great afterwards. Third, the consultation with Dr. Masri during the visits involved all aspects of getting me better, from talking about better ergonomics of my work chair, sleeping position, pillow, etc., to the type of workouts and core exercises I should do to rebuild my muscles. In the long run, I don't want to be coming into a chiropractor's office all the time, but want to establish a lifestyle that keeps me from getting the back pain in the first place, so I found this very helpful. Really, really like Dr. Masri. I've been seeing chiropractors since I was very young to deal with injuries from playing sports. They have always been sports focused chiropractors vs eastern medicine/alternative styles. Dr. Masri is athletic and understands adjustments for athletes, but he also has a wonderful grasp of alternative therapies that I have not been a fan of until him. He's introduced me to acupuncture and cupping, both have worked wonders when my neck and back were out of whack. Highly recommend! read more
