We have come here many times and have always loved the fish tacos. What has happened? Have things changed? First off, the fish was greasy and very mealy, we asked what kind of fish, we were told black grouper, DEFIANTLY NOT! Asked waiter about margarita, just happen to ask the price he said 200 pesos, on the menu a small was 90 peso, but the medium if you doubled it was 180.....hmmm strange..... (why not get 2 smalls for lest) the jumbo was 400 pesos....really??? Then the bill arrives.......195 pesos for guac.....no way! I happen to know its 90 pesos....you think Im stupid???? Also a wrong charge of another 5 pesos which would mean 105 peso overcharge. As the waiter went back they were all nervous ..... no sir your busted!...I proceeded to tell the table next to us to watch there bill. Last time we go! Best fish tacos. My husband won't eat fish at home but when we go to Isla Bally Hoo is always our first stop. The margaritas are huge too! And they'll gladly pour more tequila if you ask. Great view and great food. read more

Absolute favorite restaurant on Isla Mujeres. Our last trip to the island was on 4/18. When we arrived on the island we went directly from the ferry boat to the restaurant because we were so excited to go back to Bally Hoo again. We had four meals here this last trip and every one of them was delicious. One of the highlights was a whole fried hog fish which had just been delivered from one of the fishing boats. Mixed ceviche is always a favorite as are black grouper tacos. The margaritas are delicious and plentiful. The servers are genuinely warm and friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable and the setting cannot be beat. When sitting at a table overlooking the turquoise waters, you know you have arrived in paradise. True island feel. We ended up at Bally Hoo for the view and lobster, in our bathing suits, so we weren't all that picky. The food ended up being pretty tasty, and the margaritas obscenely large, but the service was horrendous. We waited. For everything. Forever. When we wanted to put our order in, a wait. To ask for the check, a wait. To give them the check back, another wait. Once we were done eating, we waited about 30 minutes to pay and leave. Right by the docks this is a super touristy spot. Good location to check out the boats coming in and out and to see a lot of action on one of the busiest areas on the island. Serving up large strong drinks the fish tacos where pretty good especially with the tamarind sauce. Fish filets of white fish were decent served with a good rice sauced w soy sauce. All in all good experience with good views strong drinks and friendly service. I'd go back if I was in the area especially for lunch but there are much better options on the island. read more

This restaurant is behind gas station. Restaurant has great view of sunset. They have the friendliest server. We ordered a deep fried fish. That fish was sweet and so fresh and the chef cooked it to perfection. If I go back there, I will definitely eat there again. read more

Went here while spending a few days on the island and was okay. Outside of the food carts, pretty difficult to find tacos (what we really wanted) after 6. Restaurants go to their more expensive dinner menu's and choices are typically more American fare (steaks, fish, etc) which is fine but we are in MX;-) Had their special (grouper, lobster and 6 shrimp with two small glasses of wine) and it was okay; the grouper was flat, lobster a bit chewey and the shrimp were simply grilled. Price was great (around 35 USD) but wouldn't do it again..cool setting to watch the sunset from (get a northern table, to the right). Not a bad place, just didn't fit our needs. read more

We had a horrible catamaran ride over to Isla Mujeres via Scuba Carib. Once we got to the island we had an hour to kill. Thankfully we stumbled into this place and had an amazing experience. The margaritas were amazing. Definitely lived up to the bars name. We also had the guacamole and quesadillas. We finished the first round of food and drinks and ordered another. 6 people All in all it was only $65 USD Amazing location, amazing food and amazing value. If only getting here was a better experience. I recommend taking the ferry or booking with a catamaran company that does not over sell their seats. read more

Fine dining presentation and quality at incredible prices. I looked up yelp reviews on this place while we were on Isla Mujeres and it looked good, so we went for it. Glad we did. We started with very good shrimp ceviche and a guacamole starter. Both were excellent. Then came the main course. We got the daily catch(grouper) which the guy showed me the fresh fillets that just came in. We did it with Garlic presentation and it comes out fancy with small emulsions of beet on the side, a couple pieces of fried pasta on the top( you think they are bread sticks) and vegetable and rice. I added the Habanero garlic butter sauce on top of my fish that they brought out with chips and salsa at the beginning of the meal which added some heat to the dish. My lips are still tingling. The incredible part is it was only 180 pesos, we are talking $10 U.S. My wife got the garlic shrimp and raved about it. Their margaritas were great, and the straight up margarita on the rocks that I had was very strong. My wife and older children had the blended mango and strawberry margaritas. They commented on how they had pieces of mango and strawberries in it. We ordered three double margs for a whopping 120 pesos and one regular marg for 60 pesos. Such a deal. Total bill was $74 U.S.. This was a great meal, than when you take into the consideration the price, it's turns into epic. By the way the setting is this cool little beach bar setting. You have to try this place! Shout out to Jose our server who took great care of us. Its a few minutes walk to the ferry back to cancun so you can't ask for better location if you are planning on catching the ferry back. read more

Best shrimp ceviche I've ever had. The shrimp was fresh. Also had the garlic fish fillet, which was superb. The fish tacos were also delicious. 5/5 would return to this restaurant next time I'm in cancun. It's hidden behind a gas station, so be on the lookout. There's also a spot to park your golf cart. Spent the day off shore fishing with the Keen M boat Chachalacka. Captain Rueben was fantastic. Brought our catch back here and BallyHoo cooked it up for us. Charged us 320pesos to cook it two ways for 4 of us. Fish tacos and broiled in a garlic butter sauce. OMG.... best fish tacos I've ever eaten. Service is fast and polite. Very friendly atmosphere. We stopped by for lunch at Bally Hoo after touring the island. We ordered margarita and mojito. They come in small, medium and large. Even though their medium comes in a jumbo glass and drinks were strong, mojito was bland and even margarita didn't taste that great. We ordered shrimp tacos, and they were one of the worst taco i had. Really disappointed with the place after seeing great reviews in the yelp. read more

The food was just OK. We were a party of 8 who requested separate checks which they said they could not do. When bill payment time came, one person wanted to pay the bar tab and appetizers which they calculated to be $85 US dollars. Then they went to each person to calculate amount owed but they added in the drink (I.,e., double billed). The waiter came back to say he was short and we needed to pay for the chips, salsa and guacamole $40 US dollars. Again double charging us. Rather than create a scene, we left and and chalked it up to "lesson learned" -separate checks or eat elsewhere. Very disappointed and wonder if other restaurants will try the same. My favorite place to eat in all of Mexico. I love the fish tacos, best I have ever had. They also have great fresh ceviche and ice cold drinks. They make a solid Michelada very delicious with great flavor. Very affordable and right on the water of Isla Mujeres. Its also great watching the fisherman bring in their catch, what a great view. Nice place right at the dock. You would think because it is closest to dock and the guy on the charter boat recommends that you are being set up to be overcharged and poorly fed. On the contrary the 2 of us ate for 30 bucks including 4 beers, fish tacos, chicken quesadilla. All were excellent especially the fish tacos. Very fresh. read more
