Absolutely amazing food!! Don't miss it on the best tacos in town! Fantastic service and very kind owner. Very clean and welcoming.
Stopped by for tacos on a day trip to the island. We were welcomed at the door and shown to a table. The place is small and fills up quickly. We ordered a couple of cheladas and the fish tacos to share. They were delish! HUGE pieces of freshly fried fish... perfection! We also got a dessert that was a cinnamon and sugar pastry - also delicious! Would go back to this place in a heartbeat!

The tacos were absolutely terrible, and the problems go far beyond bad technique. They prepare the tortillas in a sandwich press / panini grill instead of a comal, leaving deep grid marks and turning them into stiff, brittle cardboard. Real tacos are supposed to be soft, pliable, and warm -- these snapped in half the moment you picked them up. Completely inedible. When I questioned this, the chef insisted this is how they "grill" tortillas. No -- this is not grilling, this is destroying them. It shows a fundamental lack of understanding of Mexican food. To make matters worse, the owner is a foreigner with no connection to Mexican cuisine, and it shows in every aspect of the food. This place is essentially a Middle Eastern flatbread operation masquerading as a taco restaurant. Pressed bread, wrong texture, wrong technique, wrong concept. On top of that, the service was rude and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the staff acted annoyed and defensive, as if the customer was the problem for expecting an actual taco. This place is not authentic, not respectful to the cuisine, and not worth your money. If you want tacos, go literally anywhere else. This is a fake taco shop selling pressed cardboard with fillings. Don't waste your time or money.

My group was burning up on the streets while shopping. We were looking for a spot to cool down and found this gem. We hopped inside, ordered drinks, ate some chips, and enjoyed the fans on full blast! The mango margarita and traditional daiquiris are a must. The place is also very cute. Bring a sharpie so you can add your name to their wall :)
This place was a wonderful experience. I truly felt an authentic mexican food and atmosphere tied to it. The food was tremendous. Tacos were $5 USD each, but you can see the size of each fish taco that was given. The portions were plentiful. Our waitress was extremely pleasant, calculated pesos to USD for us, and at the very end, they gave us a donut dessert on the house. I will say that it's hot everywhere in this town so be prepared to sweat a bit when you eat inside!
At first, when I walked into Tacos de Humo, I was a little worried. The place kinda looked like it was falling apart, like some of the chairs wobbled and the walls had some cracks. Honestly, I almost left because I thought, "This place looks a bit weird, maybe the food won't be great." BUT I am SO glad I stayed! The tacos were amazing, like seriously some of the best I've ever had in my life. The flavors were insane, and you could tell everything was super fresh. I don't even remember exactly what I ordered (I think one was al pastor?), but every bite was just perfect. If you're someone who only cares about fancy decor, maybe it's not for you. But if you care about legit amazing food, this place is a must. Don't let the looks fool you. I'll 100% come back next time I'm on the island! All the employees were also awesome

GOOD FANCY TACOS & FREE DONUT: Ok, one big reason why this place is popular and has repeat customers is because they give you a fresh fried donut with drizzled caramel and icing at the end of the meal. But the tacos themselves are solid and on par with decent taco chains in the USA. They aren't the traditional barebones tacos served on the rest of the island (which are also good). The horchata here was more watery than I've been used to in the USA but it was more refreshing that way in the high heat. And it was huge! Can definitely recommend this place.
Wow!!!!! If you are in Isla this is a MUST! Do not leave without trying their fish tacos and guacamole! We ate there 2 nights in a row because the fish tacos were so amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and gives you a feeling like you are family! Margaritas are also amazing! Check this place out!!!
They have the best plank fried fish tacos for about $200 pesos. Now that may seem high but nah fam they are worth every penny. There are 3 of these restaurants on different corners. They are huge lightly fried perfection& very crispy. The fish melted in my mouth & was super fresh. I was worried I wouldn't finish but that was false. I ate every last drop and will go back. If you want bomb ass fish tacos look no further. Plus they have 3 salas & one was nice & spicy! The staff checked on me multiple times. Then they served me a donut fried with syrup & chocolate for free!! Makes this meal a fan favorite on isla. Can't wait to try the other items!
Already being on such a beautiful island you want food that fits the island vibe and Tacos de Humo was the perfect meal. It is quite small inside with a couple of tables, but it perfectly encapsulates the hole in wall saying. The servers are very friendly and truly love their food and the taste/quality shows it. They claim to be award winning and, while skeptical at first, it is well claimed. I normally prefer shrimp over fish and while the shrimp tacos were delicious, with a perfectly flaky fish filet, fresh taste, and accentuated by the sauce the fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had. The server recommended we try the tacos Locos, and they were good but the fish and shrimp were so much better to me. The guacamole and chips were also very fresh and a great appetizer. While a bit pricey, everything on the island is pricey but this place is worth the money.

Excellent service, incredibly generous portions, and fair prices. Very low key, relaxed and unpretentious. Perfect place to grab some tasty tacos. Helpful to note, if you do not handle spice well, be sure to ask for plain tacos. The slaw they put on the tacos, while delicious, is fairly spicy. read more

Ran into this place by accident. So glad we came in because the food was delicious and very filling. They give you a lot of meat in a taco so it is very filling. The waiter was attentive and so nice. Small restaurant that was clean with AC. Would definitely recommend you to stop by and get the dessert at the end too. read more

This was highly recommended as the best tacos on the island, so of course we had to check it out. It's a small spot with few tables, so you can expect a wait. This was our first meal and I definitely get why everyone loves these tacos. They fish tacos were super fresh and crispy and paired perfectly with the coleslaw. They were more expensive than we anticipated, but it was surely worth it. Also tried the Locos tacos, which had multiple types of meat and it was pretty good, but nothing amazing. The chicharron was sadly stale. The donut at the end was a nice touch. Overall, we preferred the street tacos from the carts. read more
A fantastic place if you stumble upon it. Can't tell you how to get here, just do it. Staff is super friendly. The tacos were really, really good. We split the fish tacos and the tacos locos. You really can't go wrong when you put a pork rind on a taco! Prices weren't terrible either. It was nice to try something that was a bit more authentic and Mexican. A definite gem! read more
We went here for our last meal on the island before we went home. I wish we had gone before that, because it's somewhere we'll definitely be going back to. my dad ordered the funding and that was so chessey delicious. I ordered the tacos locos and darned near ate all of it. I wanted to eat it all but I was so full. We were fortunate enough to get to try the donuts and OMG!!!! They were so good. Marcos was a wonderful, he helped me choose my meal. I highly recommend you try this place out. I can't wait to go back. read more

An absolute gem of a place! It was my first time visiting Isla Mujeres with my family and we randomly stumbled upon this place as per recommendation from someone a few blocks away. Service was great. We were seated immediately after arriving and the waiter took our order promptly. He was very helpful and friendly. Ambience was nice. Almost all tables were full. Probably the best tacos I've ever eaten! We got the pork tacos and the fish tacos. So simple but so delicious. The meat was cooked well. Catch of the day fish tasted fresh. Sauces in the taco were amazing and added to the overall taste. We ordered a margarita as well which was good. They even brought out a complimentary dessert. It was a churro donut with condensed milk on top. It was yummy as well. Would definitely recommend visiting this place. I did not eat another taco as amazing as these ones in my entire time in Mexico! read more
We liked this place!! Our favorite thing we ate was their shrimp taco (The non fried version). It was buttery and delicious. Drinks wise the Piña Colada was much better than the blended lime Margarita. This is a bigger restaurant with lots of seating. The other tacos we tried were also good but the shrimp taco was significantly better. I'd say this is a solid choice on the island, a tad more pricey than other options but it's also a bit nicer & bigger. It was recommended by a local & it had high reviews so we stopped in. We weren't disappointed at all but we decided to try other places & we found some other spots we preferred. Ultimately if you go to Isla Mujeres I'd say it be worth it to stop bye & try a shrimp taco & a Pina Colada! Definitely come if you have a big group because this place is set up for big groups. It's a hole in the wall gem with cozy and warm atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodative service. The food was freshly made and delicious. One of the best tacos I have had. Ask for the salsa sauces. The portions are very generous.they even serves us a fresh doughnut for dessert complimentary. Definitely recommended. read more
Stopped by this restaurant while exploring isla mujeres. I was very tempted by the tacos locos-- topped with marinated beef, chorizo, guacamole and chicharron-- and they did NOT disappoint in flavor, quality or size. We could not help but order a second time to share. The salsa rojo and salsa verde were very flavorful as well and really elevated the tacos. The dining are was clean and cool, and I really liked the decorations on the walls and countertops. Definitely a highlight of visiting Isla Mujeres. read more

Delicious! We ordered the green ceviche, carnitas tacos, and Loco tacos. Sooo yummy. The carnitas tacos were especially tasty. Tender and crispy with great flavor . Excellent customer service and great ambiance. Live singer followed by band, big plus. read more

My husband and I recently visited this place during our honeymoon where we stopped in Isla Mujeres. This place is tiny, somewhat of a hole in the wall place. The menu was pretty small too, but we decided to order the carnitas tacos. I am picky when it comes to visiting Mexican restaurants, especially when it comes to tacos. I'm Mexican, so I've had my share of AMAZING tacos. I was SO pleased with the tacos at this restaurant. The chipotle sauce on them was exquisite. My husband and I both left totally stuffed but so happy we tried this place out. I recommend everyone stop here when in Isla Mujeres. read more

I think this is the best tacos on the island. I went to other restaurants on the island and I believe this place had the best meat! The staff there is also amazing and is happy to serve you! It was so good my group and I went twice! Also the inside is cute, 10/10 read more
