Came in with low expectations as it wasn't busy right at noon. I wanted to try a lot of meats and the best one was the beef brisket. It was juicy and tender with a lot of flavor. The pork ribs were awesome too the meat was literally falling off the bone. The turkey was juicy and flavorful as well. The pulled pork was just okay, not much smoke flavor. The BBQ sauces were tasty and appears they only have 3 of them. The sides were decent, the BBQ beans, potato salad, and coleslaw are what I ordered. They run it like a Texas joint (order by the pound, butcher paper, pickles/onions/crackers on the side), which can't be said about R&R, Five Star etc. The brisket is the best, but you really can't go wrong with any of the meats. It's really a shame that the Yelp rating has been tainted by some low-quality reviews. You'll notice that almost every single non-5-star review here centers on a trivial, unimportant aspect of a BBQ restaurant. If you judge a BBQ place by its sides, its sandwiches, or its to-go offering, you are seriously missing the mark. The best (and arguably only) way to do it is to go inside, order a pound or two of brisket, sit down, and savor your meal. We've been dying to find a good barbecue place around here as we were missing our local home joint. Bam Bam's was the closest one so we decided to give it a try... and I'm SO GLAD we did. The service was very quick and they cut the meat for your order right in front of you. I had the Swachos and my SO had a Brisket Sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. The Swacho portion size was insane! I got them without beans and was so full after eating them. It was really fun trying all the different sauces they had set out on the tables. Shared a few different things here, so I didn't just get one taste of one thing. But after I told people I had eaten here I have come to the conclusion that I don't think I did my homework beforehand. That's on me. I stopped in unexpectedly after the other place I tried to go was closed, so I didn't read my Yelps. The secret it this: it's not so much the pure BBQ here, but the things that they put the BBQ with. Pulled pork and brisket is what I got, but what I *should* have got was the Swachos, which apparently have the pulled pork and brisket in the nachos and come out quite nice. On their own, the pulled pork seemed to be overdone (I know this because the last batch of pulled pork I made was overdone and you can't go back--it gets too soft) but maybe I just came too late in the day after it had been sat and warmed too long? I added sauce and it was just fine. The ribs, which came out to be about $4.50 per rib, were also a little over done. Not dried, but there is such thing as too much of a fall of the bone feel to them. You want a little texture there, so again I sauced them up and ate them. I don't mind the per pound style of food, but again, I think their magic here is in the custom things like swachos or sandwiches they put together. Sides were okay, probably not the most compelling, but that's why they're called sides. The spot was not terribly busy at the end of the night and the bros running the place were kind enough. read more

Tasty meats. Casual atmosphere. Accommodating staff. My Texas husband who smokes his own brisket REALLY liked their brisket and pork ribs. Seating is huge roomy picnic tables indoors. Staff was very friendly. We asked them to turn down music so we could visit with our friends, they did that with no hesitation. Liked the tidbits of info written about Texas BBQ, the owner, FAQs. We will definitely go there again next time we're in Orem. **suggestion: Sure would help the storefront to kill the weeds & purchase furniture that can handle the weather. Bam Bam's has some good food...unfortunately I didn't quite have it this visit. I think that was my fault though. We came in to a long line of BYU fans getting ready for the big game against ECU ;). The line moved fast and we were ready. My girlfriend and I went with the Swatchos with brisket, a pint of mac and cheese, and some shredded pork. I liked that they get the food ready for you right as you're ordering. It makes the line last a little longer, but it's rewarding to get the food right after you order it. We claimed the only outside table and a couple sauce bottles and got ready to feast. Before eating though we found the first ever Pepsi Spire machine that we had ever seen! It's the Pepsi version of the Coke Freestyle machine, and something I wasn't aware existed. I was super excited to get some Strawberry Lime Mountain Dew, and to make a bunch of other odd flavor combinations. This was easily my favorite part of the meal and what will guarantee another visit by me. The Swatchos were pretty good at first. The brisket was top notch. Unfortunately, there was just too much nacho cheese. Within minutes the Swatchos were Swoop and I couldn't really enjoy my meal. It was too bad...and really somewhat my fault. In the future I think I'd love to just get the 1/2 pound of brisket. The mac and cheese was good, especially with some of the different BBQ sauces added into it. It wasn't the best mac and cheese, but it was pretty good. The pork was pretty good, could have used a little more flavor though. Overall it was an okay trip that has a lot of potential to be better. I've eaten at Bam Bam's 10+ times. While it's sandwich combos are fine, it's meat by the pound, correction half pound are over priced. Bam Bam's is 25%-50% higher than 5 Star. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because overall it's a good restaurant, but it's nachos need some work too. read more

This is a must visit for anyone looking for great BBQ! There's a reason they often run out before closing and it's not from lack of planning. As hard as it is to settle for a sandwich, it's harder to pick between the burnt ends and the rest of the brisket. It's okay. I had the Swatchos, and they were more like State Fair food than anything else - over-priced, gritty canned cheese sauce, a little bit of meat, served in styrofoam. They originally tried to give me the last bits of chewy, burnt pieces of beef in the pan (which they carefully measure out). I talked to them and they made it right without a problem. That's when I left them a good tip and changed this review to three stars. My son's $12 sandwich was gone from the time we picked a table to the time I got back from filling my soda cup. It was that small. I wanted to like this place-I did. But, it didn't really compare to Goodwood or R&R or even Dickey's. read more

This BBQ joint was extremely delicious. I had the swachos with pork and brisket, with a side of ribs. The swachos were amazing. The brisket and pork on them was perfectly cooked and very moist. All of their BBQ sauces were also phenomenal. Only thing I would do differently when ordering the swachos again would be to get the BBQ beans on the side instead of on the swachos. If you take your time enjoying every bite like I did, then the last quarter of the nachos end up being a bit soggy. Either way I would get them again. The ribs were amazingly smoked and had a nice smoke ring around them. Place had a line when we got there around Noon l, but the employees were quick to get everyone served so the wait was not noticeable at all and hey were extremely friendly. I really like Bam Bam's, it's always been pretty consistent for me. I'm a big fan of their brisket sandwich and their pulled pork sandwich. The meat is really tender and has a really good smoky bbq flavor.They definitely know how to do meat. Their sauces are pretty decent. I do feel as though they could have a few more options for sides, the sides they do have are pretty good but there is only a couple options. One thing that I have noticed is that I haven't had the friendliest staff there. Almost every time I've gone there, I've walked up to order and they just stare at you with a blank face as if you interrupted something they were doing and just ask you what you want and then how much it will be. Overall I still come here for the food every once in a while because I live so close to it. Yup. This was delicious. Stopped for supper before the BYU game and got there just before the line started snaking it's way down the sidewalk. We for you to the counter so fast that I didn't even have a chance to look at the menu- so when we asked about burnt ends they asked how much and told us most people eat about a half pound. They just put it on a paper on a tree and moved on to the next one. In all, we ordered half pound each of turkey, burnt ends, and pulled pork, and a side of cole slaw and beans, and it was alll delicious. My coworkers raaaaaved about this BBQ place in SLC. They said this guy worked with the franklins guy. We got a bunch of meat, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and a sausage link. Sides were beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. The brisket was dry. It wasn't very tender. Co workers agreed. It's usually better. The ribs were delicious. It fell off the bone. Pulled pork was good. Moist. But not memorable. The sides were ok. The potato salad is mustardy and full of pickles. The beans are quite good. Reminds me of chili. The cole slaw was meh. With the mac and cheese there wasn't a lot of flavor to them other than the gold fish which didn't compliment it well. The meat was room temperature rather than being warm or hot which didn't make it as enjoyable. They had 3 sauces one being a super watery spicy sauce, a regular bbq sauce which didn't stand out for me and a sweet bbq sauce which tasted similar to the mild Taco Bell sauce if it was a bit sweeter. This was my first time visiting Bam Bam's, and I was vocal about it being my first time. The only good customer service I received came from the customers in line in front of me saying "this will not be your last!" They were wrong. No recommendations were made, the staff barely talked with me, and the dirty lobby was a huge turn off. Furthermore, the food I received was a joke. After being sick for almost a week, I finally felt like eating and wanted something good! Bam Bam's is very close to our home and their menu looks great. My son went to get takeout and when he came home we were very disappointed! He ordered the BBQ Swatchos and was shocked to find he had to pour everything over the chips! In addition, the beans were not fully cooked! Not much is worse than trying to eat a pinto bean that is hard and crunchynd getting that crappy yellow nacho cheese that gas stations serve! My meal was even worse! I love coleslaw and this looked like it was two weeks old and tasted that way, too! Needless to say, it went in the garbage. No one else would eat it... The mac and cheese was horrible and had Goldfish on top! Who in their right minds puts Goldfish on mac and cheese? I would love it if I was ten, but I'm not. There did not appear to be any cheese on it! I dumped it out and found some sort of grey mixture, which I am sure they meant as cheese sauce. I removed the Goldfish, added shredded cheese and mixed it and still could not eat it. Guess where it went? The pulled pork sandwich was tolerable, but only after I picked out all the pieces of fat and sinew. UGH Two out of the three sauces were ok, the third was SO vinegary that it could not be used. Some credit must be given to Bam Bam's because I did call and speak with someone who took my name and the $35 we spent on lunch will be gifted back anytime we want to go in. I don't think it will be soon, but we will give them another chance sometime. read more

Bam Bam's BBQ is first and foremost about buttery, falling apart smoked meat. The pork ribs I had were incredibly tender and juicy. A trio of traditional sauces complimented them beautifully. A minor drawback to fairly delicate flavor and texture of the meat is that aggressive side dishes like the ones I tried, potato salad and coleslaw, kind of upstaged the ribs.
