A few weeks have passed since my wedding, and I'm STILL blown away at how great of a party Bamboo Beats puts on! Words cannot express how memorable they made our special day. From Day 1, we knew how wonderful a vendor they would be to work with as we planned for one of the biggest days of our lives. Meeting and planning the event details with them in the months leading up to the wedding was almost too easy. They were were flexible and accommodating, offering to meet up with us at a good halfway point between the suburbs and the city. Another plus to working with them is that they were VERY responsive to our inquiries...they were available via text, phone call, and email...you didn't have to wait a week or two for their responses to come through. In fact, they would usually respond within an hour. You would not believe how much stress that alleviated as we had 50 other wedding planning balls to juggle. We absolutely LOVED our experience with Waylon and Bamboo Beats! First and foremost- Waylon was an amazing DJ, our friends and family were commenting on his talent throughout the night. He was responsive to requests, read the room really well, and kept a variety of nonstop hits coming for our 5 hour dance party! Picking Bamboo Beats as our wedding deejay vendor was one of the very best decisions we made when planning our wedding. I'll admit that I was skeptical when they were initially recommended because we had seen them in action at a friend's wedding and they were both frequently on the microphone and very hip hop focused (which we are not), however, people kept recommending them (our friends whose wedding they deejayed, The Knot website, our venue's coordinator....). When we met with them, I mentioned these concerns, and Isaac followed our requests to the letter. The actual night of our wedding, our wedding coordinator was mysteriously missing in action and Jojo unquestioningly took over the coordination of the ceremony and segue into the cocktail hour which was an absolute life saver. This team is organized and customer focused. They have a well developed set of easy to fill out tools set up to prompt you to think about the things you want, and then - they actually follow what you request (unlike some of our other vendors). Though our Canadian/Tacoma-infused/Dance Club/Some Oldies/Some Obscure/Glee Flashmod/Some Low Key music combo was not their standard focus, they pulled it off like complete experts in our musical preference. The music itself was varied, well mixed, well timed to balance moods and build a dance floor and they covered every single thing we requested over the course of the night. I both kept thinking to myself how truly perfect it was, and also received many many compliments on how great the music and dance party was. Bottom line: The music at our ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner was ideal, and the reception dancing was incredibly FUN for everyone who came. Having Bamboo Beats at our wedding was the easiest and best decision we could have made in terms of music. Having seen them DJ two other friends wedding over the course of the past two years it was a no-brainer to pick them for ours. Jojo and Isaac have a clear love for music and place an incredible amount of importance on creating the perfect vibe for each section of the wedding day. They are beyond organized, caring, and overall generous in the steps they are willing to take to make the day go as smoothly and flawlessly as possible. We told them right from the beginning that we were interested in making our wedding into a large party, with the main goal being that once the dance floor started we wanted it to be packed for the rest of the night. They beyond delivered on this point. At no time did I stop dancing, every song was a call to the floor and for the entire night I got to watch all of the people I love dancing, laughing, smiling, and enjoying themselves. Dance floor = packed! But if you think for even one moment that packing the dance floor and seamlessly flowing from one rockin' song to the next is all that Bamboo Beats does then you are mistaken. Jojo single-handedly organized the flow of our wedding day starting with the ceremony all the way through when the lights got turned back on at the end of the night. She created a time line, organized what things should happen when, and made sure that we were generally on track with those events. Without her I am not sure that we would have been able to fit in all of the things that we wanted to. Overall, Bamboo Beats is the kind of DJ where you feel comfortable just letting them do what they do best without having to worry that there will be any sort of misstep. We really enjoyed having Bamboo Beats as our ceremony and reception DJ. Jojo and Issac are very personable and easy to work with both in person and by email. They are also very organized. They provided many useful worksheets, included a blank timeline for me to fill out with their cues, a "special songs" list, and a list of my reception songs. I probably gave them more structure than was even needed. I picked about 30 of the reception songs while writing my wedding invitations and listening to Pandora. But they even said you could just give them a list of a few of your favorite songs or genres and they could create your list that way too. I was not able to fill the full 4 and a half hours with music, and that's fine, because they did a wonderful job adding songs to our list to fill in the blanks. We had a Spanish themed wedding, so for the cocktail hour I had them playing flamenco music, I was a little afraid they wouldn't be able to find the music I requested, but they had no difficulty finding lovely flamenco songs. All the songs mixed seamlessly together. They made wonderful selections, because it seemed like everyone had a great time dancing! They did a good job MCing when it was needed but playing music the rest of the time. They worked well with the other vendors letting them know what they needed and kept them informed about timing. They provided uplighting for our wedding (in our wedding colors), which in the unprofessional photos looks amazing, so I can only imagine how it looks in the professional photos. They provided music for our ceremony - which because it was at the Seattle Parks couldn't be "amplified", but they did a wonderful job playing quiet music for us on their laptop with speakers to get around that. Not sure how these guys have so many positive reviews. They are awful. The guy who runs the biz thinks very highly of himself and isn't afraid to tell you. You're a wedding DJ... Do you really need to hear about how cool he is? Because that is pretty much all we heard when talking to him. My biggest concern is will you play the music I like, have the gear needed, and are on time. But all we got was "I'm basically a badass". There are tons of reliable, good DJs, with good equipment that are much cheaper. Do yourself a favor and shop around. Meet people in person and judge for yourself. If you're the type of person who needs to be sold and overspend to think you are getting quality, by all means hire them. For me, I will keep my money and fortunately the dirty taste in my mouth from meeting with them has passed. Oh, and after meeting them I did attend an event they did. I must admit their music wasn't as awful as their demeanor, but it was nothing more than you would get from any other decent DJ. But any other decent DJ costs about half as much. read more

We couldn't be happier with our experience with Bamboo Beats. I work in the wedding industry myself, and have worked alongside Jojo and Isaac on many weddings. They'd proven their professionalism countless times over, so booking them for my own wedding was one of the easiest decisions in the whole planning process. As a bonus, they were also palpably excited to be working with us, which was so refreshing! (No jaded-old-wedding-pro stuff here; these people really love what they do and each client is a fresh opportunity for them.) We were really thrilled that Isaac, aka DJ Tecumseh (the co-founder and principal DJ) was actually available for our wedding date. Score! Email communication was consistently friendly and efficient, and the worksheets we were given to help refine our music choices were incredibly helpful and thorough. DJ Tecumseh's adaptability and calm demeanor is the icing on the cake. He worked seamlessly alongside our musician friend Jon, who played live jazz piano during parts of the ceremony and during the post-ceremony cocktail hour. So, we needed our DJ to play during pre-ceremony cocktails, during dinner, and then for a couple hours of dancing. The complicating factor was that our ceremony was outdoors and our reception indoors; this presented no problem to Bamboo Beats -- they simply set up additional speakers outside, and everything sounded perfect throughout the day, regardless of locale. Dinner ran quite a bit later than expected on our timeline, so the first dances and the rest of the party had a delayed start -- again, no problem for Tecumseh; he took it all in his stride and got everyone on their feet with some *perfect* and danceworthy tunes right from the outset. We didn't have a long list of song requests for the dance party itself, but there were still a few on there that were favorites. Tecumseh managed to streamline them all perfectly into the overall mix of soul and funk that he spun for us. We still chuckle about the fact that my husband's cousin, who had had back surgery not long before our wedding, was still partying hard, walking cane and all! Our only regret is that we hired them until 11pm, when we could've easily kept dancing for another hour. Once the last song had played, all the guests trickled home and Isaac and Jojo were starting to pack up their equipment. At this point, my husband and I were so jacked up on all the energy from the day that there was no way we'd be going to sleep soon, so we sat down and hung out with Jojo and Isaac for a few minutes. They chatted with us about the day and told us little stories of what the wedding was like from their perspective. It was so neat to have that little nugget of downtime with them, and it shows not only how personable and generous they both are, but also how easy it is to be around them! It was such a pleasure to work with a team like Jojo and Isaac. They really made our wedding complete; the music kicked ass and their service was world class. There were three really important aspects to our wedding that we wanted to put our money towards and a DJ was one of them. We really like EDM however not all of our friends and family do so we wanted to find something that we would be happy with as well as everyone else to have a great time. When I saw that Bamboo Beats won Seattle Bride's "Best Of" for DJs in 2013 and they offered video DJing I was intrigued and knew I had to meet with them. After meeting with Jojo and Isaac I was so excited and told my fiance that we had to have them play for our wedding, and how cool would it be to have a video DJ? Jojo was so easy and professional to work with to get all the initial details into place. The day of the ceremony and reception went off perfectly, all the timing ques and transitions for our ceremony were perfect and loud enough even though it was in an outdoor setting. DJ Tecumseh played a classy mix of modern string music during our cocktail hour and meal then really turned it up when the dancing started. We gave him just few genres to start out with and he kept it upbeat and fun, our guests literally couldn't get off the dance floor because they loved every song. They recently DJ'd a wedding that I not only planned, but officiated at as well and it was so awesome seeing them from both sides of the aisle!! Jojo is great. Very detail-oriented and professional while still warm and friendly. We ended up using their back-up DJ, George, due to a scheduling snafu. He was very easy to work with and spent a lot of time getting familiar with the music we wanted (a lot of it was very folky and new to him). He did a good job filling in the spaces we left unplanned. People danced the whole time. It was great that they were familiar with our venue, Herban Feast Sodo Park, and knew where to put the table (the venue will try to tell you that under the stairs is a good spot). We had nothing but positive comments from all of our guests. You were perfect and did a great job reading the crowd. In a word, amazing. We hired Bamboo Beats for our wedding and we were not disappointed in the slightest. Our friends and family had such a great time and everyone raved about the "atmosphere" they helped create.     They met us twice before the big day just to talk about the event and how we wanted it to look and feel like. Jojo and Isaac basically served as our second (and sometimes first) wedding coordinator. They had tons of suggestions of songs and for the flow of the event when we had no good ideas because we were overwhelmed with all of the other wedding planning. Y'all, Jo Jo Isaac are the absolute best! They were so quick and accommodating and throw a fabulous party! Their so very knowledgeable and masters of their craft. Meeting with them beforehand, they are just a great couple. As our music tastes do not run towards the "wedding" variety, they were so very helpful in pointing us towards genres and making suggestions. We gave them general direction and they ran with it to perfection. They even made sure that my wedding entrance was unforgettable by building me a custom entrance wedding march that morphed into the Imperial march halfway through. Isaac was professional as the emcee. The music during the cocktail and dinner hours were perfect, and everyone danced till they dropped afterwards. When planning our wedding we were told to focus on 3 main things for an unforgettable day. Music was one of those things. Like most couples out there planning a wedding, we needed help. We did a lot of our own searching but always got really overwhelmed. We ended up hiring a wedding coordinator whom had Bamboo Beats on their preferred list, that and I had a niece that also kept recommending we work with them. We already knew they were great, since we saw them at the wedding show a month prior. So we ended up pulling the trigger and decided to push forward. From the very first meeting to our very last song of the wedding night. It felt like nothing but the best from Isaac and Jojo. Working with them put our minds at ease. Talking with them was always easy and personable. They are a great team, and genuinely great people who equally love what they do. I was afraid that having such a diverse wedding crowd of 200+ would be hard to please, but everything seemed to flow smoothly. From playing Cannon in D to take me down the isle, to soft lovey dovey songs during cocktail hour. Then to the reception where we had music playing everywhere from 90's R&B, to traditional Laotian music, to the usual Filipino dance party songs lol, and then back to the top 40's. It was just great!! The dance floor was always lively. It made us happy to see our guests happy.
