DJ Rocryte was one of the best decision we made for our wedding and this review is an understatement of the little appreciation we could make in exchange for the best night of our lives! My husband and I been to several weddings and after seeing some dance floor quieter than others, we are so incredibly thankful for DJ Rocryte for being the best DJ representing us for the best day of our lives. When we were looking for a DJ for our wedding, one of the most important quality to us was personality. Not only he was talented and came highly recommended, he was prompt in all his response, professional and highly knowledgeable of music that we are looking to match the ambiance we want to create for our special day. We only met with him once prior to the day, and gave him a list of our playlists. We also have a weird playlist- from oldies Chinese song from our parents era, to some from our era such as music from Crazy Rich Asian, from Backstreet Boys to Frank Sinatra to Bruno Mars. But, he knew exactly the vibe we were going for because he even played music that wasn't on the list and his music got people swaying and jumping! We did spent a little more than what we wanted for a DJ but DJ Rocryte was worth every investment! Granted that we have a traditional and conservative crowd and have low expectations, we have never seen so many uncles and aunties on their feet. Our dance floor was packed all night and we have to turn on the light in the end cause the venue was closing. Until today, we still talked and laughed about all the funny grooves seen on the dance floor, beautiful memories to keepsakes forever thanks to DJ Rocryte! I know I should have written this review almost two years ago but planning a wedding for 250+ people is very tiring and after my wedding, I didn't want anything to do with it, I apologize! But anyways, DJ Rocryte and I go way back, all the way to kindergarten in fact! Despite not seeing each other in YEARS, when I hit him up to ask him to DJ my wedding, he remembered who I was! I had heard him spin at some of the clubs in Seattle and on Kube for a couple of years and thought he was so dope. Josh was extremely professional when we met up to discuss the logistics and playlist. It helps that he is Filipino and is familiar with all the Filipino line dancing songs that are must haves at all Filipino parties -needless to say, my parents/Titas/Titos were all happy with his song selection. The transition from line dancing music to ratchet music was also very smooth. I've been to several weddings where the music played can determine how much fun the guests have and I'm happy to say that all my guests told me they LOVED our DJ. One of our priorities when planning for our wedding was making sure we and our guests had a good time. We knew that would come down to the dancing part of the night. DJ RocRyte was one of the best and early decisions we made. I found him randomly through Instagram when following another vendor whose work I liked. He would share stories of music he was playing at weddings, clubs etc. and it definitely was the vibe we were going for. I later found out he used to work with a friend of mine who spoke highly of him. My now husband and I started listening to him more on the 12 o'clock drop (even on vacation) on Kube 93. We love his flow and transitions. When I let our videographer know who we hired for our DJ, she was ecstatic as well. He came highly recommended. He definitely played to the audience and the vibe we wanted (I remember there was a moment I walked by the dance floor where there were mostly kids and he played his mix to Baby Shark. I had parents saying they didn't even know their kids had dance moves and was surprised who came out on the dance floor). Wish we spent more time on the dance floor (but that was our fault since we had many rooms with activities) but every time I was on the dance floor, he played the songs I wanted to dance to and followed the Do Not Play List very well. His personality is friendly, chill, down to earth and humble. He was flexible to contact and meet with. I remember having to Facetime him once because our schedules didn't match to ask additional concerns and explain the layout of our venue. He even came with us for a site visit to make sure we had enough speakers. Very accommodating to all our surprises and making announcements for the ceremony and reception. Hands down, best decision we made for our wedding. We heard DJ Rocryte at a friend's wedding previously, and as soon as I got engaged I KNEW we had to have him at ours! He was the first thing I booked. :) And he did NOT disappoint. He was super easy to work with, was amenable to meeting and chatting through the playlist and nailed everything. I didn't even have to tell him which portions of the song to play, and he absolutely hit the vibe we were going for. My worst fear as a bride was an empty dance floor and people filtering home early, but I had nothing to fear with DJ Rocryte! We got married in June and Josh was such an awesome DJ! The music was one of the most important things we wanted to have right ... so we're so happy to have hired him. He was there early for our ceremony to get setup and worked directly with our venue, officiant and videographer. He played each song one after the other seamlessly and also the microphones worked great. It couldn't have been more perfect. During cocktail hour, he kept our guests occupied in a good mood by playing music from our favorite artists as well as many he pulled in on his own to fit our selection. The reception was amazing and so fun! If you really pay attention, Josh isn't one of those DJs who just sits there clicking stop and play on a laptop. He's one of the few talented, Seattle, DJs who actually spins ... and does it very well. By the end of the night, everyone was having so much fun that no one wanted to leave the dance floor. Josh had DJ'd a few of our friend's weddings before we were even engaged, and I had seen him at a separate industry event in Seattle. While each event was unique in their own way, Josh read each crowd perfectly and I found myself dancing to the same level of excitement every time! After getting engaged, Josh was one of the first wedding vendors we booked. We continued to follow him to local events at Still Liquor and Sugarhill to get to know him and his style, and he was nothing but professional and sweet to us during each visit. When he gets in the mixing zone, he leaves it all on the dance floor and has the best song transitions we have ever danced to. Come our wedding day, Josh executed perfectly. We had a few obscure songs for our processional, recessional, parent dances, etc. and he nailed the version, timing and fading exactly as we had wanted. We found Josh/DJ Rocryte through a recommendation from our Planner. After looking him up we found out that he was the DJ of the Seattle - Hip Hop Radio Station we listened to. We knew immediately that our music taste would align. Josh was so great to work with. He was easy going, responsive, organized, flexible, had great taste in music, and even offered suggestions to customize our first dance song. On the day of the wedding he arrived early to setup, brought mics, lighting, speakers, and his whole DJ setup (Turntables, Mixer, etc.). His transitions were smooth and he really knew how to read the room well. He also was very accommodating with the small space we were able to give him for his setup! We were unsure if having a DJ was necessary for our very small, intimate wedding but we are glad we hired one! My husband and I were thrilled with everything about the music, MCing, and transitions at our wedding! Before the wedding, DJ Rocryte made time to sit down with us to go through the music and timing for the ceremony and the reception. We appreciated that he had a prepared form to fill out that included the typical wedding song selections and that he was able to suggest songs for certain times (i.e. entrance, aisle walk, etc.) At the reception, DJ Rocryte had the PERFECT combination of old school and modern day dance music that kept our friends and family on the dance floor. He did a great job of reading the crowd. We appreciated DJ Rocryte's attention to detail especially when we decided to do a traditional Filipino "money dance." We were initially concerned that this portion of the reception would slow down the dancing, but the transitions with the music were seemless and everyone was on their feet! DJ Rocryte dj'ed our wedding last June and we couldn't be happier with our choice! He was super helpful in setting up the sound system for our venue and also brought his own equipment that allowed us to have seamless transitions throughout our ceremony and reception. He is very professional and was always available to answer any of our questions and accommodate for our music selections for our ceremony. When it came to the dancing/party portion of our reception, the only direction we gave DJ Rocryte was to make sure that everyone was dancing the whole time and he rocked it! DJ Rocryte will totally light it up! I wish I can give him more than 5 stars! I've known him for a long time as he is a really good friend of my younger sister. My fiance (now wife) and I asked him if he would be kind enough to DJ our wedding and he kindly obliged! Before our wedding, he gave us a document to fill out with songs we would like for our first dance, cocktail hour, etc. He was very organized and communicated frequently with us even though we pestered him with lots of questions! We also only gave him a small list of songs that we wanted to play so we didn't give him that much to work on. After our wedding ceremony ended, he totally set the mood for the rest of the night for cocktail hour/reception/dancing. We had a wide range of age groups at our wedding from little toddlers up to grandparents in their 70s-90s and he perfectly judged the mood of our guests. I've been to several weddings where the DJ would either make or break the reception. Doesn't matter how beautiful the venue could be, or sometimes even if the food was good or not.
