Ive had "peking duck" across America over a dozen times since immigrating to the states and this is the first time its been done correctly. To be fair, I've never had it in New York or LA, as I've mostly moved around the midwest and south, but still, the peking duck here is great. Its authentic and so so good. Everything else is pretty good too. The green beans is too salty tho, with the pickled olive greens being very salty, and the menu did not provide very good context. The serving sizes however are crazy. They're huuuuge. Kinda too big. This place is good for groups, but coming here with any less than 4 people would be a big mistake. The golden soup meat dishes are very good. Its spicy and numbing and sour, a very addictive flavor combination. The rice cake and sweet potato in salted duck egg are both awesome but with the large serving size you really need 5-6 people at least to enjoy it properly. read more

After the "soft opening " we noticed the restaurant was getting great reviews Today we decided to try the duck! The restaurant has very simple decor. It does not seem super clean. The ceiling fan had a heavy dust accumulation, it's good they were not in use We should have known something was suspect when we were seated at our table. We noticed plastic cups and a plastic refillable water jug , warm water, no ice offered!!!!!!! Our server talked us out of ordering a whole duck. This restaurant is known for their Peking duck. I tried to compare with Tien Tien which is also famous for their Peking duck in the Dallas area. We went to this restaurant around 12:00pm, ordered several dishes that we want to try but were told they were not available. Only the duck bone soup that came with the duck was tasty. Wraps for duck were all stuck together - thick like tortilla. How the chef under grilled the skin and overcooked duck meat is beyond comprehension. Our first pickup order tonight, and we are very happy with the quality of food, portion sizes and packaging. Duck retained crispy skin after an hour traveling home, plus they gave us carcasses, from which we will gladly make duck stock. Both pork belly dishes were excellent, and the eggplant hit the spot. Upon entering the establishment, I was surprised. It's a new place, but the vibe is sooo 1990s. The interior is typical of Chinese restaurants back in the 1990s: red color dominates the interior. I love it!!! It's just lacking the fortune cookies and the Chinese zodiac paper place mats then it would be perfect!! My son picked this place for his birthday dinner because of the Peking duck. I didn't have high hopes because I grew up on real Cantonese and Mandarin cuisine. I don't even eat Chinese in Texas. Between the five of us, we got the mixed vegetables with shrimp, chicken fried rice, jalapeño chicken (this truly was about 10 jalapeño's and some chicken - good but too one note). My son got 1/2 a Peking duck which included rice and duck soup for the entire table. We tried the egg drop soup, hot and sour soup and chicken egg rolls. My grandson got the crab Rangoon. The egg rolls were just so-so but not greasy which was a plus. My son didn't enjoy the duck. It came with 5 condiments and needed them all. The skin wasn't that crispy and had no flavor. The duck was dry and chewy. This place is known for the duck. I think his expectations were much higher than what was delivered. The duck soup was very greasy and had bones. We all sampled it and no one took any home. Everything else was really good. We will go there again! The crab Rangoon was nice and crispy. The mixed vegetables were perfectly cooked with a light sauce. The fried rice could have used some sesame oil but was good. We were disappointed they had no desserts. We recently stopped in to the Bamboo House restaurant for lunch and were blown away by the whole experience! So much so, we went back later in the week for visit #2. Same experience, different day! Food: 4.5 The reason we gave Bamboo House a try in the first place was for the Peking Duck. My husband had seen the sign on the front while driving down hwy 75. We ordered the "half duck". It was perfect portion size and delicious! While we were waiting for our duck, we noticed they had a "dry pot" on their menu. And a few varieties at that. We first had a dry pot dish in Portland and had yet to find one in the Dallas area that stood up to that first one...until now! All the right flavors with a terrific mix of ingredients made it perfectly rich and flavorful. The tongue tingling sensation from the Sichuan peppercorns was the perfect amount. On the 2nd visit we got the hot pot again (yes, it's that good) and ordered the chicken fried rice. It was so good and smoky. Just the way I like it! Service: 4 The service here is very attentive and friendly. Both times we had plenty of wait staff checking on us and offering to get us whatever was needed. They just opened and it's their soft opening. I like the one in Austin but I can't recommend this place right now. We ordered half of the Peking duck, handmade shrimp balls, vegetables with chicken, and snow pea leaves. Peking duck was good but barely any meat, it was mostly skin. I've ordered half a duck somewhere else in town and in Bamboo Austin before so I know this is not right. It's like people in the back took some of the meat or something. It felt like we got scammed. Handmade shrimp balls were good and probably the most value and taste out of all the other dishes we ordered. Vegetables with chicken felt like they used some frozen vegetables and they used a little too much slurry sauce. Snow pea leaves were way too salty like they definitely accidentally added too much salt. The leaves were a little tough too. Service was not there either. Have been weekly for a month now. Their honey walnut shrimp is fantastic, love that they offer half a duck and soup, both are very good. It's festively decorated, and service is efficient. Over the last few visits, I've also ordered the handmade shrimp balls with veg soup, meatballs and crab, Shanghai prawns, fish and tofu pudding, and cauliflower dry pot, which I'll happily reorder, depending on mood. I will also pass on their orange chicken - too dry and not crunchy but it is all white meat chicken (which is great), salt and pepper fish - not fried enough to be crunchy and not enough flavor, and scallion beef - the beef is too fatty for me, like pork belly but beef. Overall, I really like the restaurant and food. Price is fair, given the quality of the food and value. Been wanting to visit this place for months. Finally we made it tonight. We didn't order Peking duck ad I personally prefer Cantonese roast duck. I aimed at bean curd noodle soup and it was outstanding! Also ordered lion's head with crab meat. Mm, it is a bit blend. The cabbage was extraordinary as well as hubby's Mongolian beef. This was our first time visiting. We see it often next to original pancake house but had never been inside. We decided to give it a try tonight and although it's a little far for us we will definitely be back. The waiter warned us they were big dishes and he was not wrong!! He recommended several dishes for us and we tried 3 dishes (for 4 of us) along with a few appetizers and oh my goodness. So good! And we have plenty left over for lunch tomorrow. We tried the egg rolls and spicy garlic cucumbers for appetizers. The cucumbers had a little spice to them but nothing too bad. Honestly so good I was getting a little sad when my husband and daughter went back for seconds because it meant less for me for lunch tomorrow. We also had the twice cooked pork belly. It was delicious. The sweet and sour chicken was good too (good for my youngest son who is a bit picky but he loved it and the sweet and sour sauce you could tell was made from scratch not a commercialized bottle). The star of the show however was the Peking duck. The skin was so crispy and flavorful. That dish we had NO leftovers of. lol. First, I tried to order the special noodle with chicken. I was told they don't have it. Then I tried to order the special noodle with beef, and I was told "we don't ever have this". Then I tried to order the chicken plate with special noodles, and was told I shouldn't order this because "it's just a big plate of chicken"... I was then told that I should order the lo-mein instead, so I did. I also ordered the crispy spicy chicken. The lo-mein was a large portion but had absolutely no flavor. It was no different than the lo-mein at every local Chinese restaurant. Unremarkable. Next I tried the crispy spicy chicken. I tried the first piece of chicken and it tasted excellent and was perfectly cooked. Then my tongue started to burn, tingle, sparkle, then my tongue went numb and everything started to taste like mint toothpaste, even my water. I looked closely at the plate and noticed that the chicken was covered in sichuan peppercorns. I informed the waitress that I can't eat sichuan peppercorns, because I don't want my food and drink to taste like toothpaste, and would not have ordered this if I knew it came with this inedible ingredient. I asked if they can remake it without the peppercorns and she refused and said "no, we can only cancel it and make something else". I ordered the orange chicken. After 10 minutes, someone came by and said something like "you ordered the orange chicken?" and I said "yes" and she walked away. Another 10 minutes, someone different comes by and asks if I need anything, and I reminded them I'm waiting for the orange chicken, to which they replied "well we're busy". I waited another 10 minutes, now a full 30 minutes since I received the inedible food, and decided to just cancel it and leave. The waiter gave me the check, no apology, no acknowledgement that I basically never got the food that I ordered. Horrible horrible service! read more

We were told this is the best new place to get peking duck in the DFW area! They do not take reservations. I made the mistake of making an online reservation at a different restaurant in Euless also called Bamboo House--so don't fall for this! However, when we arrived, we sat down promptly and our server took our order. We decided to order the half peking duck and the sizzling szechuan chicken, which was perhaps too much food for 2 people. The peking duck comes with a large bowl of duck bone soup, which was so tasty. And of note, it comes with the thin tortillas instead of the fluffy buns. The peking duck was great! it was the perfect portion size to get a half duck and split between 2 people. The skin was crispy, the meat was flavorful, and the little tortillas were light and thin. The only thing missing is that it wasn't carved at tableside (but that's pretty much impossible to find anyway). The szechuan chicken was just okay--it was quite spicy but it felt like I was eating mostly fried batter rather than actual pieces of chicken. Overall, I would say that this is one of the top 2 spots for peking duck! read more

The portions are created to share at a table, so be warned, they are very large. We had 5 people and all went home with left overs. It was delicious. A friend recommended Bamboo House for Peking duck, and it did not disappoint! All the dishes we tried were good, and the portion sizes are huge. We came on Sat at 6pm and there was a significant wait for a table. (Use the kiosk to add yourself to the wait list) We used the wait time to decide what to order, which came in handy when the server hurriedly asked whether we wanted duck almost as soon as we sat down. So I went ahead and gave her our whole order as she frantically entered the order and rushed away. We didn't get to try the special noodles since they were out, and I also want to try the sweet potato fries with salted egg yolk next time. Was told by a foodie friend they have the best Peking Duck. The soup was full of flavor and the peking duck was tender with crispy skins. We loved the see-through wraps versus the buns.
