This is a go-to spot for me and my family (especially with two teenage boys who can really eat). It's almost always packed and there's usually a wait, but the staff does a great job managing the crowd--I'm typically seated within about 20 minutes. The food is solid--I'd say around an 8 out of 10--but what really makes this place stand out is the portion size and value. Even with my boys' appetites, we almost always leave with leftovers. AMAZING! AMAZING! I'm obsessed! I've never had dumplings before and tried them here. Now I am craving soup dumplings with nowhere to get them where I live! We also got spicy wontons but I forgot to get a picture of it- which sucks because it was my favorite thing! The chili oil wasn't too spicy but was so flavorful and complimentary. The pork and cabbage dumplings were savory and filling. It feels like a home cooked meal wrapped into a little bite. The soup dumplings... man... don't even get me started! I thought it would just be juicy inside, but NO. They are not kidding. You bite into it and it's a mouthful of delicious, umami goodness. A literal soup dumpling. I came here today for lunch. This was my first time. It was busy, so I figured that was a good sign and indication that food was good. It's very nice inside with bar and tvs. There are plenty of parking. I was seated right away by the host and the server came to take my drink order. The menu is very extensive. I was happy to find my favorite dish; salt and pepper shrimp. I also ordered Leek turn over. I love anything Leek, chive and green onions. The food came out right away, nice and hot. One of my favorite places to eat. The food is absolutely amazing. Their new location is big and easy to get seated. They get busy so on our last visit, they did forget one of our items. There isn't enough staff for the amount of customers they get but the food does hit the table fast. I would advise not to drink their tap water as it has a taste. My sister recommended we check out this spot when I was visiting Plano and my husband ended up saying this was his HIGHLIGHT of our entire trip. What a fun spot! The place was packed on the Tuesday evening we went. Thankfully, they have a large space inside with lots of tables. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get seated within about 15 minutes. We ordered a variety of options to share. I loved the cucumber salad, Dan Dan noodles with pork, and the hot and sour soup. I like how the food came out in waves. My nieces enjoyed the fried pork chop. I paired my meal with the Lychee martini and it was so good- not too strong. My only recommendation is for the staff to be better attentive to filling water. I've visited Wu Wei Din several times since moving to the DFW area and it is definitely a hit! The restaurant can get busy especially on the weekends, so there might be a line but we have never had a super long wait. Service is also pretty quick once you put your order in! Pretty much everything we've tried at Wu Wei Din has been great, and some of my favorites include the Shanghai kaofu, pork soup dumplings, pan fried pork buns, and fried string beans. Place super packed on a Friday night at 6pm. Luckily we had reservations. But wow, every seat in the house was taken. Even though they were packed they were very fast! Servers came up and took our order for our 10 person group, including drinks and appetizers. And I would say about 10-15 minutes out they started serving. Which to me was very impressive. We sort of went family style, trying out each other's dishes. But I have to say I enjoyed their pork soup dumplings. And my flat beef noodle. I ate the whole plat for the flat noodles. First time here. We had a bit of a wait, even though there seemed to be a lot of open seating in the far areas of the restaurant. Keep in mind this was an On the Border and it's quite huge! Atmosphere is ok. Fairly bright inside, bustling with customers, somewhat noisy. They did a decent job converting from Southwest Style to Asian lite- really just some Asian style light fixtures. Lots of booths and tables. We got a booth by the kitchen, and there was a phone just behind us that never stopped ringing, and nobody ever answered it. We had tried calling earlier the day before and nobody ever answered the phone. I'd guess if you need to place a to-go order you'd need to do it online. I doubt you can make a reservation here either. We tried just before Christmas and were told "just come early!" Our server was polite and efficient. She got everything exactly right with our order even though she barely spoke English. We had an order of fried egg rolls, they were hot and tasty. I had a cup of hot and sour soup and it was excellent! We had an order of fried pork dumplings and they were very good. Entrees were sweet and sour chicken- very good.And an order of Thai basil cashew chicken which was good. All served with white rice- no options there. We also had a pot of jasmine tea which was excellent. If I could change anything, it would be to turn off the phone or dedicate someone to answer it- as well as move it out of the dining room. Nobody wants to have to listen to a phone ringing the entire meal! Maybe turn down the lights a bit in the evening to add a bit to the atmosphere. Amazing food. This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in DFW. It had a casual atmosphere and quick service (the food is made to order so while the wait can be long, they do a great job bringing out items as they become ready) You can taste the quality in every bite. The orange chicken is fresh from the kitchen, leaving it still crispy with every bite. The housemate noodles are chewy and do an amazing job at soaking up all of the flavors. The dumplings were fresh, chewy, and amazing. The fried rice and cucumbers were okay, nothing some chili oil can't fix. In town for work and I literally googled "din tai Fung dupe" and Wu Wei Din came up so of course I immediately door dashed it. I will say that, of the things I ordered, only half were dupes but the order was 100% delicious. The dupes: - cucumbers 10/10: crunchy, vinegary, spicy. I could eat 3 buckets of them. - red bean XLB 8/10: these probably would have been perfection if I'd eaten in, but by the time I got them thy were not as hot and gooey as I'd like. The taste was excellent though! The dumpling dough was perfect and the red bean paste was sweet but not too sweet. Not dupes: - dan Dan noodles 10/10: these were not like any Dan Dan noodles I've had in the past, but kind of like sesame noodles. No spice or numbing but a ton of good nutty flavor. - scallion pancakes 6/10: these were good but needed a sauce for dipping. I used leftover Dan Dan sauce and it was tasty I'm sad that I don't live here because I'd eat this food all the time! They were very busy with to go orders at the front which made it crowded. We ordered traditional bao soup dumplings, the 3 colors variety of dumplings and crab rangoons. The bao and dumplings I would give a solid 7 out of 10. The creasing on the dumplings was great which shows skills. They were beautiful. Very thin though so they fell apart picking them up so that was disappointing. The rangoons were Uber sweet and not my thing. Id give them a 2 out of 10. Although I've never had DTF, this was really good and I definitely recommend it. Orange chicken - amazing, 10/10. I didn't originally order this but the table next to us had it and it looked really good and we got it and did not regret it. Mongolian beef - 6/10. Some pieces were chewy and there was barely any beef overall. Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) - 8/10. Juicy and tasty. Cucumber salad - 8/10. Good flavor and crisp. String beans - 8/10. Not the best I've had but definitely a great version. Chili oil wontons - 7/10. The wontons were good but the sauce was too much on the sour side. Noodles in spicy sauce - 6/10. Their online ordering system on their website after filling in all the info, gave me an error message. I called in and the lady asked for my cc number. I'm at work and will not be calling out my cc number out loud. So I drive there and now waiting for my food adding an additional 15 mins. Takes another 15 mins to drive so I now have 15 mins to scarf down my food. This restaurant has been getting a lot of buzz, so I was really looking forward to trying the dishes everyone's been talking about on TikTok. Sadly, it was just okay. I've got my favorite spots for dumplings and noodles nearby, so I don't see a reason to come back for those. The soup dumplings are pretty unique and worth a try, but they're not enough to make me want to come back. The hot and sour soup was lukewarm and pretty bland. On the bright side, the green beans and cucumber salad were really good, but again, not enough to bring me back. The service could definitely use some work, too. Wu Wei translates to "effortless action ". This is exactly how I felt after eating 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. If you're looking for your new go to Chinese restaurant, dig no further for I have the place for you. Top to bottom, everything was wonderful. You must get the spicy wontons. When it comes to Chinese/Taiwanese food, this is definitely a go to for me and my friends in the DFW. The service is extremely fast, the portions are good although I feel they have gotten smaller over the years, and the taste is exceptional. My friends who are Chinese say this is as close to home cooking as they can get here in Dallas so far. We really enjoyed the twice cooked pork as well as a chicken dish. But my favorites will always be the soup dumplings, and the wontons are a standup. The green beans were delicious as well and the eggplant. The one thing I did not care for was their scallion pancake. I thought I needed more of a crisp, but otherwise will continue to come.
