Third time trying to get Peking duck and still failed. This time because we didn't reserve a duck ? It was 5.30pm when we came. We thought we came early. Only one waitress waiting on 5 tables and several to-go orders .. I just wanted to ask if they still have any duck. If they don't, I'll go. As simple as that and still had to wait 15 min. She just plainly said, "no pre order, no duck" This is the only restaurant in DFW which only takes pre ordered duck I think. Restaurant was 1/2 full. If their specialty is duck, they need to stock up on duck!! We simply moved to Awesome restaurant like 5 min which we just sat down and ordered Peking duck. Awesome was 70% full when we came around 5.50pm and by 7 pm, there was a long line of ppl waiting to dine in. Great food, some of the best Chinese food you can find in Dallas! Peking duck is on par with NYC (super authentic, the owner is from Beijing) and all of their dishes are such high quality and large portions! This place deserves a lot of love, it's truly a hidden gem. read more

We drove 45 minutes to try royal kitchen and it was worth it. We wanted duck and the last few places we had it did not turn out well so we decided on royal kitchen. The duck was amazing and carved table side. The rest of the food we ordered (a lot lol) was fantastic as well. It's simple inside and you order from an iPad which seemed weird at first but it's nice to see pictures of the food before you order. This place really reminded me of the Chinese restaurants of my youth in the 70s. Super friendly Chinese family running the operation and it shows in the food. We will definitely be back! read more

Saw all the great reviews and decided to give the Royal Kitchen a try. We were warmly greeted and seated right away be the friendly server. We had the Salt and Pepper Fish, Beef Rolls, combo Flat Noodles, and General Tso Chicken. All of the items were freshly made and served hot with great flavor. Ambiance Menu Advertising So our family came here for specifically dumplings and dim sum. They advertise is the best number one dim sum restaurant. When we got there, there was two people's two tables and when the lady came to take our order, we couldn't see where there were any dim sum so we asked. She said oh we don't do dim sum. We asked why you advertise for it? She said the competition is too stiff around us. We asked her where to go and she mentioned a place , but there was no such place. I've been here twice already and I'll keep coming back! The last time I came, we didn't have to pre order the Peking duck. This time around they told us to preorder to avoid the 20-30 minute wait time. We went on Thanksgiving so maybe that's why service was so spotty. We got a good mix of dishes like peaking duck with the baos, chasu baos, scallion pancakes, beef stir fry noodles, spicy clams, got the stir fry duck bones and combination fried rice. The duck is actually really good. The baos aren't that great but the pancakes are pretty solid. The scallion pancakes are just okay (lowkey TJ scallion pancakes are better). Chasu buns are probably the worst ones I've had. The dough isn't cooked all the way and the meat isn't super flavorful. Beef stir fry was so so, kinda missing was depth of flavor/spice. Chile oil doesn't save it. Spicy clams were okay. The clams themselves were super tasty but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. Fried rice is okay and duck bones flavor is decent but a little too salty. Plain rice was dry. Overall not bad but wouldn't return. The baos, duck sauce with the scallion and cucumber (needed more scallions and more cucumber) were 10 dollars and 5 dollars (respectively) extra which is criminal. The place is clean and spacious, and service is decent. However, very Overpriced dishes compared to its portion. $43.99 for a small dry pot frog leg, not worth it at all. The beijing roast duck is just so-so, the meat is kinda dry and lean. It also lacks flavor, all the flavor comes from the sauce on the side. We came here on the weekend intending to get some dim sum, but it looks like the menu has changed since its opening. Either that or we came on the wrong day. Oh well, we ended up getting some other food and it was good enough. Everyone in the restaurant ordered a peking duck but with just two of us, we didn't feel like committing to that. We ordered a beef flat noodle and a salt and pepper fish for lunch. Both come out pretty quick. The beef flat noodle has extra wide rice noodles, sauced well and tender beef. Didn't quite have as much wok hei as I would like, but still good. The salt and pepper fish had a great crunch and great batter on the fry, with that signature S&P taste. (Frozen and re-heated but was not all the way) We ended up only taking a bite and leaving the rest un-touched. At over $6 a dim sum dish I expected to at least be able to eat it. We came to try the peking duck and it was good!!!!pork pao bun's bread was so soft and served warm. Braised Pork belly had tender pork and had the five spice flavor. Lastly we had the yangzou fried rice which to me was just regular fried rice because it had spam in it and was missing the flovor compared to others i have tried. The only place I will go in DFW area for Peking Duck from now until I keel over. It is beyond delicious and they do it right. They cut it in front of you, and serve the first few skin pieces with sugar. SO GOOD. The duck always has the right proportions of crispy skin to fat to meat. You also get the option to do what you want with the duck bones-- either duck soup (which is SO good and comforting and makes a great leftover meal if you pair with vermicelli), seasoned bones, or just take the bones home. We always get the Roselle tea (herbal and a little sweet, flavor is great). We love the fish fillets with tofu in chili oil. And for my favorite dessert, I recommend the Tianjiu. So good! We came in around noon and the restaurant was completely empty. The previous Hunan restaurant here has since changed into Royal Kitchen - they specialize in serving Beijing-style cuisine that's commonly enjoyed by royalty (i.e. Royal Kitchen). I'm pretty sure this is the first of this type in DFW. The restaurant is still large and every table can seat 5+. They only have a digital menu on tablet which is also how you order. The menu is available in both Chinese and English. Some dishes must be reserved ahead of time due to limited availability such as the Spicy Hot Pot (麻辣香锅). We didn't know this when we visited, but the chef was still able to make the dish for us despite not calling ahead. So, when in doubt, just ask! Rice costs $2 per bowl. We ordered Scallion Exploded Lamb (老北京葱爆羊肉), Seafood with Japanese Tofu (铁板海鲜玉子豆腐), Roujiamo (肉夹馍), and the Spicy Hot Pot (麻辣香锅). The scallion lamb was almost amazing - the lamb was super soft and tender, but the dish was a little too salty. The tofu dish was okay - the Japanese tamago (egg) tofu was soft and flavorful, but pretty normal overall. The Roujiamo wasn't really a Roujiamo, it was more like a 肉大饼. The spicy hot pot was absolutely amazing - I completely understand why you should order ahead. There was a lot of variety in ingredients and each one was top of the line freshness, flavor, and spice. I'll definitely come back to try the rest of their order-ahead dishes. One thing to note was that they give pretty big portions and the prices were fairly appropriate for the value given. Royal Kitchen in Plano, TX is a great no-frills Chinese restaurant. We ordered the Stir Fried Pork Tripe with Cilantro (香菜炒肚丝), Vegetarian Cauliflower in Dry Pot (干锅花菜（全素)), Beef Flat Noodle (干炒牛河), and Beijing Roast Duck (北京烤鸭). I highly recommend all the dishes we tried! I loved the stir-fried pork tripe with cilantro. The cilantro and the scallions perfectly complemented the savory, juicy pork tripe. The flavor of this dish was also very "authentic" and reminded me of comforting home-cooked Chinese food. Don't let the tripe scare you-- it's got a great chew and is very common in Chinese cooking. I also loved the Cauliflower in a Dry Pot. This dish was definitely a bit spicy so beware if you have a lower spice tolerance. The tender cauliflower soaked up all the aromatic spices and flavorful oils of the dish. The cabbage, green bell peppers, and scallions were all perfect additions! I will say that the dish is very oily and greasy-feeling which isn't the best (but this fragrant and spicy oil contributes to making the overall dish delicious). The Beef Flat Noodle was your standard stir-fried beef with flat noodles. Savory, with very tender beef slices, and oily flat noodles. I do think that this dish could've used a bit more salt. Finally, the Beijing Roast Duck was delicious. The duck came with some thin pancakes, sweet bean sauce (aka Tian Mian Jiang/甜面酱), scallions, and cucumbers. It's always so fun making little Peking duck pancakes with the sauce, vegetables, and duck slices. I would recommend adding an order of the pancake and the sweet bean sauce because you definitely will need more of it given how much duck you get! The roasted duck itself had very crispy yet fatty skin and juicy meat. At the end of the meal, you can also ask for the duck bones to be made into a soup with cabbage and tofu (for $10 extra). This soup was so flavorful and comforting! I highly highly recommend getting both the roast duck and the soup! read more

So I've given this restaurant multiple opportunities (both dine-in & take-out) since they're fairly new & have been struggling, but this time is the last time. Last time we got take out, they handed our order to a different customer & offered no apologies. This time I called for take out 6PM on a weekend. Renee told me to text my order to a different number. Had to follow-up to make sure it was received & was put on hold & had to ask repeatedly how long the order would take. When she wouldn't tell me & told me to check my text, I told her I could not read Chinese & asked if she could just tell me since we're on the phone. I am in Texas for a wedding and saw this place pop up on my search for a Chinese restaurant. As someone who eats a lot of great food in Los Angeles and is really picky about Chinese food, this place had the most authentic Peking duck I've had in the United States! The yang chow fried rice didn't disappointment (it's a childhood favorite of mine). The dry pot cabbage was an unexpectedly complementary dish to the fried rice -- its sweet and spicy flavor brought out the smokiness of the fried rice and my taste buds were in haven. The service is amazing, not only was the staff very accommodating to our asks, but always checked in on us and gave great recommendations. The restaurant was dimly lit with Classical Chinese music playing, making me feel like I was back in China dining with relatives in a hole in the wall. We had an early dinner here. I ordered sweet and sour fish fillet, dimsum like crispy shrimp rolls and steamed shrimp, hagao. The hagao is bland, need to dip it in soy sauce to taste. The crispy shrimp rolls is delicious, but it's hard. I think it's left over from last night and they re-fry it. The sweet and sour sauce fish fillet taste good, but its too sweet. Service staff is nice and friendly. Well lighted and decorated restaurant. By the way, their jasmine tea is good, but for $5 a pot, I think that's pricey. read more

Stopped by Royal Kitchen for their grand opening this past Saturday and was looking forward to a dimsum place a bit closer to home. Most of the dimsum offerings were okay, but I was most disappointed by the turnip cake. I'm not sure if it was just that day, but the turnip cake was super mushy and even though visually the pieces look like they had been panfried, there was no outer crunch at all. It also was pretty bland and didn't come with any dipping sauce, so we ended up using the chili oil instead. The pork and century egg congee was fine. The portion size for the fried dough was substantial and I like that they chopped it up for us to put in the congee, but each piece was super crisp most of the way through, which isn't typically the texture I expect for fried dough. The beef chow fun was pretty good, not quite as oily as some other establishments, and the crispy shrimp in chicken was huge and juicy. Not too flavorful on its own, but it came with two dipping sauces which was nice. Not sure I would return for dimsum as there are better options in the area, but since the menu is so extensive I would probably return to try some of the other Cantonese dishes. read more

New dim sum place in tucked away in a shopping complex. It was pretty solid overall with some pretty good dishes and some other okay ones. You order off the menu, so things come to you fresh as they are prepared. They have all the classics, and we particularly enjoyed the chicken feet, tripe, congee, shrimp balls, and sticky rice in lotus leaf. Those were pretty fresh and served hot. Thought the rice roll was a little thick and overcooked, black bean ribs solid but lacking sauce, and egg tarts looked good but had a very strong buttery aftertaste. Overall, we were pretty satisfied with everything and it's nice to have a dim sum option in this area of town that actually specializes in dim sum. Had dinner on a weekday night and it was very quiet. Only 2 other tables came in when we were there. The service is quick and friendly. You pull the menu from the QR code and then place your order on it. Once you are done eating, you can click to tip and to close out your order. You pay the waitress instead of the website. The menu is extensive and shows photos of the food. This is really nice and useful! We tried the salt and pepper tofu - great texture, not very much pepper or salt flavor. Beef flat noodle - great portion, tender beef, flavorful Salt and pepper grouper fish - salty, fried, crispy, tasty. Favorite dish. Hot garlic oil eggplant - flavorful, fresh, could have done with more eggplant Would definitely come back. $15-20 per dish with some chef specials were $30-50. I think we found the best Peking duck here in Collin county tried several place around the area but it is either too small or too pricey but in royal kitchen the duck is good size and very delicious skin is crispy and succulent and if u dip it in sugar it is another level . We got there on a Monday night and the restaurant was empty. There were tacky red plastic tablecloths and I thought why did we choose this restaurant but 4.4 stars , it must be good? Right? No, Truly awful food. How could this restaurant have any Stars at all. The hot and sour soup had no flavor, the egg drop soup was inedible. The Kung pao chicken had disgusting pieces of dark meat chicken. The Generals Tso's chicken was made with a red food dye that I am sure is banned. Tried this place out yesterday and it was interesting. My fiancé and I were seated once we walked in, the sweet lady told us to scan a QR code and we ordered on there. A couple minutes later the robot came out with our food. It was pretty efficient! The food options are a lot and it's the only dim sum place that offers baked bbq pork buns all day. The baked buns aren't fresh, they are under a heating container but it's bc baked bun are usually only made for the mornings since it's so much work to make. I really liked their cucumbers. They just opened and I was so excited to try this out. We started with the minced beef w/ egg white cilantro soup which was so flavorful. Tiny chunks of beef and cilantro leaves in an egg drop soup base. The crispy noodle combo had an amazing sauce and packed with seafood and chicken and veggies and everything delicious. The star of the meal was the Crispy Stir Fried Sole Fish. It was huge with a savory light ginger sauce that we just loved. The staff is so nice and patient with all our questions.
