I came here with my colleague. Lots of parking in front. I was hoping that this would be a Thai restaurant just by its name. I was wrong. It was actually a Vietnamese restaurant that has sushi options and on top Chinese options. I got the pork skewer, shredded pork with spring rolls vermicelli. I liked the food. It was tasty. The decor is like all restaurants in PR or what you would expect. Also note that if you ask for hot water like most restaurants here they would serve your hot brown water. In my opinion, the owner is Vietnamese so I would have to assume Viet food would be a better option here. According to my colleague, their Chinese food was not bad. He liked it. Portion was pretty good. I do recommend giving this place a try if you are in the area. read more

We saw their sign hanging outside stating that they were a Vietnamese restaurant with a Canadian twist. They also listed the different types of seafood that they serve. Great potential so we went in! I love the fact that halibut appears to be the most common fish served around Prince Rupert and the locals use it in their fish and chips. We ordered the fish and chips and a beer. The beer was served somewhat warm so we were not off to a good start. Our food consisted of 3 smallish rather thickly battered and greasy filets and some hard, crinkle cut fries straight out of a McCains bag. For once i was glad that the portion size wasn't large. They might do okay Vietnamese food but I would pass on eating anything with the Canadian twist. read more

I was going to tick "asian" but there is fish and chips and burgers on the menu so...not quite. BUT it is primarily asian food, i think supposed to be Vietnamese but kinda Chinese/Canadian version. I had the seafood soup for lunch and it was fine. The broth was clear but pretty flavourful and lemongrassy, the seafood was the cheap version, fake crab, a few shrimp and a little fish. LOTS of rice noodles. Totally fine for 10$. read more

Bamboo Shoot has to be one of the best restaurant in Prince Rupert. It is actually one of my favourite restaurant of all time. The food is always cooked to perfection, the service is always prompt and the prices are very acceptable. They advertise it as an "Asian" restaurant and it has to be the most accurate definition for the place. The cooking, flavours and plate style are a perfect mix of Chinese and Vietnamese with a little touch of Thai. It's just delicious.
