All we ordered is in the attached pics and very delicious culinary but the chicken chow mein , which was not good looking and overcooked noodles , like Chinese noodles from packets. First thing you must note in Prince Rupert. There are two kinds of Chinese food here: 1. Authentic Chinese Food 2. Western Chinese Food. Aka Prince Rupert Style Chinese food. I had both. First off I am from Vancouver,BC and I made the mistake of ordering the Western Chinese Food aka Prince Rupert Style Chinese food. I got the chicken chow mein, fried rice with sweet and sour pork. OMG. I had no idea what I ordered. I called over the owner and told him to look at his food. He came over and he laughed. He said "I will not like this food". I was like huh. He said this is the Western Chinese food. He asked if I am new here. "Yes I am new". I had no clue. First off the chicken chow mein was bland noodle boiled and added bland chicken on top. The fried rice was even more interesting. The rice was friend and meat was added on top. Lastly the sweet and sour pork, was basically battered pork with sweet and sour sauce on top. The chow mein reminded me of instant noodle but with no sauce. The sweet and sour pork would be good if they added lots of sauce on it. The owner told me that he took over the restaurant 4 years ago and when he saw how the previous owner cooked Chinese food. He was surprised. He said overtime, he did find the local style Chinese food not bad. Of course that took a long time. I guess he went through a cultural shock. This is what I felt when I saw the Western Chinese Food combo I first ordered. The owner was really nice and changed it to the authentic Chinese style chow mein. Woah. Their chow mein was actually the best chow mein I have ever had. It was better than a lot of restaurants in Vancouver. I am surprised why the locals didn't like this. It was fried to the right crispiness. They then added chicken, seafood, brocolli and other vegetables and lastly topped with the sauce. It was super delicious. I highly recommend coming here to try their authentic Cantonese Style Chow Mein. They call it the special chow mein. You need to ask for it. Ordered take & it was possibly the worst chinese food we have ever had. The dishes were bland, fried dishes over cooked. The worst of the worst was the "chicken fried rice" that for all intents & purposes was steamed rice with some plain chicken and bits of scrambled egg. We walked in and the stink smell was so overwhelming we couldn't even get out fast enough. Can't review the food because we couldn't get past the horrible smell. I would not recommend unless they give the place a good cleaning. read more

If you're into "small town Chinese food" (aka not exactly authentic) then this is the place for you. Living in Vancouver and being from a small town myself, it's a comfort meal that is hard to come by. For someone used to more authentic Chinese food you may not enjoy this place but I personally had not had such a meal in quite some time and I found it to be delicious. I ordered a combo with chicken balls and they let me make a substitution as well. End it all off with some orange slices. Mmm! I'd definitely return if I am ever in Prince Rupert again. read more

I ordered take out. It was ready when they told me it would be ready, which was only 20 minutes. I ordered ginger beef which was amazing, deep fried chicken wings, which were also fantastic, pork fried rice, which was pretty much like every pork fried rice, and bbq pork fried rice noodle, which was good but nothing special. The ginger beef was the real star of the show. I have eaten here a few times and have yet to have a bad experience. I have tried all the other chinese spots in town and this is one of, if not the best of the bunch. read more

Larger portions and possibly (hard to tell) better food than Galaxy Gardens...seems that the debate over which is the better Chinese food in Rupert is a hot debate, at least in my family :D read more
