I don't get why this place has so many good reviews - I guess for a small town it'll do. But coming from Toronto and being Vietnamese myself, I was thoroughly disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place. Spring rolls - no meat, only veggies and vermicelli and no flavour which is their theme The rice - the chicken had no lemongrass flavour although juicy, the pork was dry and again flavourless. Impressed by the fact that there is pho in town. Best part is that it was tasty pho. I came here with a group of people (5 of us). I ordered the number 15 which was the beef and beef ball noodle. The food was very consistent. Like all restaurants in Prince Rupert, its all ran by mom and pop. Chef is always a family member and the person waiting tables is always the daughter or son. So back to the food.... Portion was pretty standard. Wish there were more beef. The noodle was very flavorful and tasty. They serve it with it bean spout and cilantro (in Vancouver its with mint leaves). Service was ok. The decor looks like a typical Viet restaurant. Lots of free parking in the area. I mean in PR there is no such thing as pay parking....really...... Highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

Visiting prince Rupert from our Alaska cruise. Decided to try this place since they had good reviews. Workers are nice but dude, they forgot our order! We were sitting there for so long, our friends who ordered after us are done eating ow and we still didn't get our food. I asked the waitress sand she said it's coming. Still nothing after 10 min. Keep in mind, this is pho, it should be quick. Doesn't take 30 min for it to come out. We asked again, then she said, oh they are making it now. Wtf?? I would not recommend this place. Bun bo hue, the spicy beef noodle soup was the worst. Nothing like the actual dish. read more

I ordered Beef Soup Noodle with rare steak and beef balls. I liked the flavour of the broth and the chewiness of the rice noodles. I am, however, disappointed by the texture of the steak. I thought the cut was thicker than usual and it was way overcooked. I had a hard time chewing it apart. Maybe I'll come back another time and give this place another chance. read more

I was hung-over and needing a bit of warm, grease and cold in one sitting so opted for Pho 88. Salad roll was good but fell apart as I ate it. Spring rolls were yummy. Pho soup was a little on the bland side and I added some beef boiiulon powder when i reheated the left-overs later and it was good in the end. Friendly service! read more

Always good. I eat here regularly because it's consistently good, fresh authentic Vietnamese cuisine. They'll even sub items if you have alergies or you're following a special diet. Easily the best of its kind in Prince Rupert. read more

Not too shabby. The broth for the pho was a little on the bland side and overall a little more simple than I prefer. But the ingredients were fresh and good quality and the service was superb. Pho 88 is a very good Vietnamese restaurant. It is as good as any other Vietnamese restaurant in BC and easily as good as any in Vancouver. The prices are a little high, but the place can get very packed, and for a good reason: the food is great. The service? Great as well. I strongly suggest a try if you haven't already. Great, authentic Vietnamese food with quick service, for a very reasonable price. I had the lemongrass pork on rice noodles with spring rolls. So much flavor! The fish sauce they give doesn't seem to be as watered down as other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. This was authentic fish sauce and complimented the other flavours so well. Don't let the outside appearance fool you, the food is great! read more
