This was one of our stops of our cruise. We decided to try out this sushi place. It had amazing views and it was delicious. If we ever take this cruise to Alaska again I would definitely come back. Everyone was very nice and welcoming.

Arrived via cruise ship in Prince Rupert. Noticed an Instagram post from a Virgin Voyages crew member and decided to visit. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a rustic environment featuring tables, a bar, window seating, and outdoor seating in a garden area. The menu includes all the classic sushi options alongside some unique selections. I ordered the Rock 'n' Roll roll and the Red Dragon; both featured fresh fish and meticulously prepared, tightly assembled rolls. OPA Sushi did not compromise on fillings or toppings. My husband ordered the seafood chowder, which he found to be very good. However, given the proximity to crab fishing, he was surprised that imitation crab was used in the dish. Nonetheless, he finished it completely. We also ordered iced tea, served in a can reminiscent of the 1990s, evoking a nostalgic childhood sensation. It had been decades since I last had Brisk iced tea in a can. The service was efficient and prompt, allowing us sufficient time to converse, connect to the Wi-Fi, manage social media posts, and conduct further research on Prince Rupert. Despite being located in Canada, the menu prices did not suggest a tourist-centric establishment; rather, it maintained a local ambiance, particularly towards the evening in the yellow building.

Some of the freshest sushi I've had in a long time! We split four rolls between the two of us, and there wasn't a disappointing roll in the bunch, not to mention affordable (most rolls $8-12, with a few exceptions). Fresh, delicious, five stars all around.

    So tasty!

We had a delicious lunch here while stopped in Prince Rupert on a cruise. The sushi was all fresh and delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. The local Wheelhouse beer was served ice cold and excellent as well. Highly recommend this place!

Fantastic sushi spot just a short walk from the cruise ship! The salmon was absolute perfection--so fresh and flavorful. We also loved the gyoza, which was delicious. The "Sweet Chili O' Mine" roll was amazing, with a perfect blend of flavors. They also have a great selection of local beers from Wheelhouse Brewing. Service was fast and friendly. It was raining so we did not see any eagles but they have a beautiful viewing deck off the back. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

I was really looking forward to eating here considering the positive reviews; and I was really disappointed. The service, however, was great - friendly and honest staff. My favourite thing about eating here is the outdoor dining view: tall, beautiful trees with the sun *chefs kiss* follows by the drink, halo martini. Perfect amount of alcohol to juice and only $10 for 2oz - stellar deal! Sashimi - even though it was ok, I expected the quality to be more fresh. It tasted like it had been thawed after freezing for days. And I was surprised to see raw onions - it really complemented the sashimi The tunami and sweet chilli rolls - both didn't deliver on the taste, the flavours weren't there. I found myself thinking that the sushi in Toronto is better than this place

I added my own topping which were left over from my tuna tataki

Cute place to stop to rest if you're walking around town. Take a breathers and have a snack. I liked the salmon roll and the caterpillar. The waiter was a young guy who was super attentive so the service was an A! The tuna was why I gave -1 star. It wasn't the quality I expected but may have just been that day.

I would say the sushi here was very decent. I ordered the Sake Don and 1 Sake nigiri and 1 scallop nigiri. Sushi was fresh. I did like the Sake Don. It was definitely a better deal than ordering nigiri. The Sake Don came with 7 pieces of Sake. The Sake Don came with miso soup. Not bad. Note that they charge $2.50 for tea. Kind of steep for tea that is not even good quality. Yes the tea was very disappointing. Service was ok. I had to flag the waitress down in order to get service. I asked for tea refills and one of the waitress kept on forgetting and the other one took a long time to come over to refill it. Had to mention it couple times before I got tea refills. There are 2 Japanese restaurant in Cow Bay area. I prefer the other one. The whole meal came to $24. Kind of steep for what I would be getting if I am in Vancouver. On the bright side they serve wild salmon so that is good.

Fine fish food. Lots of stairs to get in tho. Service and atmosphere make for a nice dining experience.

Great food. Best gyoza I've ever had. Really great find, small little restaurant tucked over some gift shops. Blink and you'll miss it.

The rice was very off. When I say off, I mean the balance between vinegar and the quality of the rice was not there. The rice was too mushy. Maybe wasn't cooked with the right amount of water. So for the crab tempura roll. It was $7.50 for the roll or 8 pieces. The crab was basically imitation crab. Not quality ingredients. The tempura batter was ok. Not a lot of crab but again they are serving fake crab. The Spicy salmon was just as disappointing for $7.75 (8 pieces/ 1 roll). Very skimpy salmon, avocado and cucumber. Please see photo. The salmon was chopped up and was not a piece together. Not sure why they did that. Overall, over priced sushi for non-quality sushi. I do understand PR is limited in sushi restaurants. I do recommend going to Cow Bay and try the other two sushi restaurants. PR is known for their seafood quality but I am not seeing it here. I guess that is why they don't serve nigiri here. Disappointed. When I went there was only one other table occupied. Sushi very non-authentic and is basically Safeway or Save-on-food quality sushi charged at a premium. Won't be back.

I have no idea why someone gave this place 2 stars, but it's some of the best Japanese food I've…read morehad. Actually there isn't any better tempura on the planet. Try it for yourself.
