    Shrimp with udon noodles
    Carol R.

I first went to this restaurant decades ago. And I occasionally go back, but hadn't been in about 5 or more years. Hubby and I went for an early dinner with some cousins after a visit to a nearby nursing home. There were 5 of us. We had a pork dumplings appetizer and a Vietnamese crepe. The dumplings were OK. The crepe had partially cooked onions, something we have never gotten before in our decades of eating Vietnamese crepes (and having been to Vietnam in 2023). I am allergic to raw or undercooked onions, so I would have remembered. Anyway, we removed the onions and still enjoyed the crepe. So much so, we ordered a second one without onions. Entrees included duck pho, pork bun (vermicelli), shrimp with udon noodles, and 2 orders of special fried rice (with pork, chicken, and shrimp). The pork in the vermicelli was a bit overcooked. Nevertheless, the meal was tasty. My cousin-in-law loved his shrimp with udon noodles. And even though the broth did not taste like traditional pho broth, the duck pho was a standout. We were disappointed with the fried rice. It had lots of protein but lacked flavor. The restaurant looks really nice now, with newish floors, clean walls, and spiffy but comfortable furniture. I can remember the floors being a bit worn, that the walls desperately needing something done to them, and an AC unit that leaked down the walls. The place has come a long way. Still, two things have not changed. The food is good, and they only take cash. Our meal with 3 appetizers, 5 entrees, tax, and tip was $126.

Pork Bahn Mí- not on the menu but the ladies make a damn good one for me :)

This is a place in a little plaza right around the corner from Jackson North, right off 167th. I've had food here once before, and my Physician buddy that works next door had told me the food was pretty good, so I'll trust a Doctor's opinion ;) I LOVE Bahn Mì sandwiches, they are so fresh and delicious and hit a lot of savory flavors, salty, sweet, fatty, acidic from pickled veggies etc. Well, I looked through the menu for a good amount of time and was stunned that Bahn Mì Sammies weren't on the menu. The owner ladies were sitting at a table chatting as it was empty when I entered and asked for menu for take out. I told them I love Bahn Mì and would they be able to make me one even tho not on the menu? They were Happy to oblige, and I asked for extra meat and the owner came out and said she'd make me one with extra meat no charge?!? Who the f*^k does that these days?!? Pretty awesome! She won my heart right there! I also ordered some shrimp and pork rolls, and those are pretty much the same/standard no matter what Vietnamese resto you go to. The Sammie was really delicious, it slapped. The pork was marinated and cooked to perfection, with some nice fatty tendon-y pieces, yum. I could have eaten two, they are 10 inches long too, which is a little bit bigger than I've had anywhere in SoFlo. I really really wanted Pho Dac Biet, but for sure next time. Looking forward to going back for another Bahn Mì and sampling other authentic items, these ladies are as Vietnamese as can be :)

I was here with a friend on a Sunday night, it was about 30 mins before closing time so the waitress wasn't too happy when we came in. We decided to stay but felt rushed to order since the kitchen was about to close. There was another party eating so they still needed to wait for them to finish. We ordered the pho and tofu rice place, both were good and came out pretty quick. I thought the place was going to be small but it does have several tables with good space in between them. I did notice a weird smell when I entered, we moved to another table and it was a little better. I understand the waitress wanted to go close and leave for the night so I would be open to going back to see if the service is better.

This place has been around forever! Food is delicious. No fancy decor but clean and simple. We were the first one to come into the restaurant and the lady came to take our order. She was friendly. We ordered rice noodles without soup. It was light and lots of vegetables. You can pick the protein on top of the noodles. I picked pork and my friend picked chicken. Both were very flavorful and we really enjoyed it. This place is known to take cash only but the lady has a little machine to take a credit card! That's a huge plus for me even though I still paid cash. If you like Vietnamese food, this is the place!

Unfortunately not authentic. But still very good food and good price. Chinese owned. Service is good. Reviews are true-they do yell at you for tips. For example, I gave cash to pay our second visit, thinking she would give me my cash back and I would add it to her tip later. And she yelled that it was too low of a tip. She only misunderstood. The change alone wasn't going to be her tip. Not really a good look for business. On to food: Pho: you can tell something is missing. It's not authentic. But it's good soup. Pork and rice: taste like home. I liked it a lot because of that. Could have been a bigger portion though. Duck: very well seasoned. Very good. I didn't like that they included the butt piece in there. Watch out for that bite. Overall, okay place in a pinch!

I stopped in for a to-go order of pho bo vien, which wasn't one of the options on their current limited menu, but the staff member who took my order was willing to substitute beef for beef balls. It was packed well, with a separate container for the broth/protein and the noodles, and a little baggy for herbs and sprouts. The large portion is generous amount of noodles, and the herbs and sprouts were very fresh. If I dined in, I think I would need more broth as there wasn't enough in the takeout order. I also wish I could've packed my own sauce as the small 1 oz container is not enough for a whole large order. It was quick, affordable, delicious, and whenever I'm in the area (with cash!), I'm sure to stop in to treat myself! But the cash only can be a deterrent for friends, so this is almost exclusively a takeout place for me.

I have visited this spot for the last 10 years living in Miami. The delicious food is consistent and the vegetable are always fresh. This place has expended over the years, but it is still under the name management an My favorite is #34- Phó beef stew. It has vegetables, chunks of meat , and beef broth. You can always just order by number. All the servers know the numbered menu by heart. Don't expect very engaging staff. They are there to serve you, and that is it.

Hot and sour soup and pan fried noodles. Just two of the vegan specialties.

My favorite restaurant and restauranteur. Lilly cooks with love which most people never even got at home. Gourmet style taste and wonderful ambience as well. Be sure to say hello to her.

And I feel like I have to say this: some of these reviews are clearly linked to exposure. The pho here was FINE. Solid 3. The service? Not good at all. The woman who cooks/runs this place was all over the place. There was nothing kind, grateful, or warm about her as she took orders and prepared food. Her husband was nice but the lack of attentive service from her was not cool. She was very tuned in to the other couple dining but I called her several times (in that tiny space) and she seemed to not hear me. I also have to say that the size of their homemade teas is super generous. However, while I was there, two tables, including mine, were served Thai Iced Teas with sour milk. When I finally got the owner's attention, she frowned when I told her and said, "I just served that." And then went to the other table to double-check as if my words wouldn't quite do it. lol The other table confirmed it was sour. The owner took the cups, no apology or nothing, and asked us if we wanted it remade. I asked for a coke instead. A bottle was $5... five whole dollars. Egg rolls: okay. Def a bit bland.. Served with some weird ketchupy sweet/sour sauce. I asked for fish sauce, which was good. Paid about $36 for pho, egg rolls, and a drink. If this is your only pho option in the area, go for it, but i was not impressed especially once my stomach processed the sour milk.

The place basically looks the same with just a few updates. But it's peaceful, quiet and pleasant. We decided to have our favorite dish, Beef Pho, and ordered that. Our server was Francisco, who was friendly and helpful. It didn't take long for our soup to arrive. I guess 5 years can make a difference in how pho is made or maybe there is a different chef. The pho now is not cooked the same as back then and didn't taste as good, to our surprise and disappointment. The brisket was not very tender but was tough and hard to chew. The steak slices were cut so thin as to not have much flavor or substance. The amount of meat was a little less and there were way more noodles than before. Something was missing but I can't remember what it was...a green vegetable, I think. Overall, it was ok but not excellent like before. We have had beef pho on the west coast many times and it was always perfect. It could've been just that day that it was off. Maybe it was something else like the economy because the place was empty at 6:30 pm when we arrived for dinner. There was one couple sitting in a booth and only a few trickled in afterwards, unlike in the past when it was packed. There is plenty of parking in front of Basilic with wheelchair accessiblability.
