Man! My family and i have been going here since they opened, and it is the best thai food we can ever find. I live in DFW area and when i visit, this is the first place we get for dinner. I love thai food and no other thai restaurants have topped this one. The food is fresh, flavorful, delicious, well proportioned, and never waivers. The staff is incredibly friendly, hard working, and transparent about timing (if it's a very busy time they will let you know how much time it will take until your order is ready), and they even know our name when we walk in. That is a family-run business if i've ever seen one! It is a small space so most of their orders are to-go and when you dine in, you can see how busy they truly are but they make sure you are taken care of every time. The menu is VAST and everything I have ever had has been top tier flavor! Pictured are the pork sauté with thai peanut sauce (best one i've ever tried) and a cucumber side, the curry crab rangoon (6 to an order but pictured are 2) with sweet chili sauce, and the yellow curry. This place has HORRIBLE hours of operation. I have tried giving this place a try 2 times now and have been turned away both times. They are open from 11am to 2:30pm and then close from 2:30pm to 4pm. Dinner is from 4:30pm to 8pm. So, the hours are weird to begin with but if you don't arrive 45 minutes before each closing time you cannot dine in. So really their hours of operation are from 11am to 1:45pm and 4:30pm to 7:15 pm. Why have a restaurant if you are only going to be open for 6 hours?! It makes no sense. Never again. read more

I then ordered the papaya salad & asked for it to be spicy. Not really used to iceberg lettuce being in this particular salad, but it was still pretty tasty! The Drunken Noodles with tofu were so delicious! It comes with bell peppers, onions, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, & Thai basil, all stir fried in sweet chili & tamarind sauce. (Made spicy) For the soup, we ordered the Thom Yum with tofu, made spicy. It came with lemon grass, mushrooms, cilantro, baby corn, chives, & white onions, served with a side of jasmine rice. I've never experienced what it's like to live in a military town. I've frequented the area for some time visiting pawn shops but rarely dined anywhere beyond a safe chain. Outback Steakhouse, Hooters, and Gas Monkey Garage. Worth noting GMG and Hooters are no longer open. Yeah, most of those let me down too. After a few years I did hit a similar mom and pop place in Harker Heights with excellent results. Heard from a friend in the area that Ban Mai Thai was from the same family; stopped in for a late lunch on a recent weekend. Starters selected for the table were the chicken spring rolls and steamed dumplings. Nice bites; quality sauce pairings. We're a 4 top and decided to do family style. Ordered three entrees and shared between all of us. The Pad Thai had nice flavor even ordered mild. The Panang Curry while flavorful could have been thicker. The yellow curry (combination meats) was thicker than the Panang and also flavorful. White rice was served to all; overall good first impressions except for a few things. Combo meat did not include shrimp which kind of surprised me. SO, this wasn't my REAL first time here. We had previously attempted to dine here a few months back and were turned away by ownership with 15 minutes left till they closed between lunch and dinner. We just moved to the area and were looking for a good restaurant and stubbled across this one which we had no idea was right down the road! Costumer service was 10/10 on the phone, and 100/10 when I showed up to pick up my order. Offered me complimentary drinks while I waited the 5 minutes extra it took to complete my order. Now on to the food. Absolutely DELICIOUS. Hit the spot for everyone in the fam. This is the second time we've been here. We came here the first month that it opened. Both times the food under-delivered. Tom yum soup is too sour, pad thai is too sweet/sour. In general, the food tastes more Americanized than traditional. However, the service is great, and the owner is very welcoming and responsive. One of the best Thai restaurants we love to go to here in Harker Heights. Delicious food, made to order and fresh every time. We always get the chicken pad Thai & panang curry. This is by far our favorite Thai spot in the Killeen/HH area. We've been to other Thai spots in the area and even in Austin - but none of them serve you such big portions for such a good price, we always need a to-go box after eating. Their peanut sauce and satay are my favorite, I could literally eat it everyday lol. The service may be slow sometimes depending on if they have a rush but we think it's definitely worth the wait. We saw the sign a month ago and wasn't sure if it was open, so we decided to try yesterday and they were open for take out. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, chicken egg rolls, and rice noodles which I can't remember the name of the dish, lol . Overall it was pretty good. The food was so fresh and hot, portions are very good for the price. I am so glad they had chicken egg rolls, most Thai have only the vegetable one. It comes in six in one order and we ate it all. The pineapple fried rice was also delicious and the rice noodles was okay. I forgot to take pictures, maybe next time for sure. There's a lunch buffet area, but won't be up until it's all clear due to the COVID. We tried calling for lunch, but we didn't know they are closed on Sunday. We are definitely coming back! We came back for more today. But I tried the Chicken Pad Thai and Thom Yum soup. Hubby ordered the same pineapple fried rice. Anyways, the Pad Thai was delicious and I cannot eat it all, more left overs for tomorrow. The Thom yum soup wasn't greasy like the other Thai restaurant I used to order from, and also spicier. Ate lunch here, started with steamed dumplings as appetizer. These were ok, not bad but not amazing. The wrap was too chewy. I ordered pad se ew with medium spice. This dish was delicious and just the right level of spice and it was a very large portion. My husband ordered noodle seafood soup Thai hot. He loved it, he couldn't finish his either. Yum, yum, yum. Ventured out to a new place and were extremely happy with it. Intimate place with a gigantic menu. We started off with the chicken satay. Perfectly cooked with a delicious peanut sauce and cucumbers and onions in a sweet vinegar. We both got our go-to dishes whenever we go to a new Thai restaurant (pork pad thai for the wife and pork pad see ew for me) and were happy with our choices. Very large portions (I polished off all of mine but wife ate about 1/2). Lots of take-out traffic. Super friendly guy working the floor/register/phone. Ive attended this establishment a few times and the food is always good. Don't get me wrong i always get the same thing but it's wonderful to me. They were very friendly over the phone and ensured they would accommodate us. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were sitting in a relative's dining room. Everyone there was AMAZING and overly accommodating. It's our go-to place now! So far we've had their pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, thom yum soup, red curry with shrimp, vegetarian egg rolls, beef stir fry vegetables, and kapow fried rice.
