Darling German restaurant. It is small and cute. If the indoor seating is taken there's outside seating available. We are repeat customers and it never disappoints. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The food is authentic. You can hear the ladies pounding the schnitzel in the kitchen. Free bread basket. Every side is a must try. Highly recommend the Jaegerschnitzel, cucumber salad, and potato salad. Portions are large. Try the Apfelsaft beverage which is like a carbonated apple juice. Also highly recommend the mandarin cream torte which is made fresh in house. No alcohol served here but you can BYOB for a small service charge (I think it's $1 pp)

    Patio. Outdoor eating

Food is always great. Love the potato salad and cucumber salad. Pet friendly with large outdoor space. Corn hole and shade trees. Love this place. Amanda our server is wonderful and all the ladies working in the kitchen thanks for the wonderful food

Authentic Schnitzel, and rot kraut, with German potato salad.

Third visit! My wife and I loved the service, the ambiance, and most of all the food! Tried a new dish. Jaeggerschnitzel. Fabulous. We ordered desert to take home. Tried three different deserts. Great with coffee! Oh, yes, my wife and I are splitting the deserts over two days! All in all Opa's is the place to go for authentic German food, hospitality and gemutlichkiet!

This German restaurant is very small, but very quaint with limited inside seating. We got there just as it opened, first people there. LOL, the inside, and porch seating filled shortly after we arrived... it's a testimate to good meals coming. There's plenty of seating outside, which looked well maintained, to include limited seating on the porch. The staff was fabulous, caring and professional. Food came in good time, and it was good; much, much better than other local (Kemper, Harker Heights) German restaurants. We will be going back.

We were looking for Bavarian food, and this restaurant popped up in our search. It's a tiny eatery with a quaint and quirky aesthetic. The service was lovely and attentive. There's a charming origin story on the menu as well. My husband and I picked schnitzel, but he went with the potatoes while I went with the Spätzle because I couldn't remember what it was (and there wasn't a description, nor did I ask.) I did wish I had picked the potatoes in the end. Both plates came with warm red cabbage. We also ordered a side of potato salad and a bratwurst. Both of those were enjoyable. The cheesecake was alright, though more cake-like than creamy. My favorite part of the meal was the Mandarin Cream cake. Everything was affordable, but we were disappointed there was no beer selection. For us, trying Bavarian beers is part of the experience. I'm sure there's a reason they've chosen not to serve alcohol here, and we respect that. It was missed, though. I can't say we won't eat here again, but we were looking for more options.

Not your typical "hoity- toity" five star restaurant, but definitely well worth the five stars! The ambience was so welcoming as well as all of the staff! We enjoyed everything from the cucumber salad to start, and wienerschnitzel for dinner. Everything was so flavorful, so we knew we had to save room for dessert!! We will definitely be back , and will always recommend to others! Thank you for such a great experience (:

Hands down, I'd be willing to drive 25 minutes to get another Reuben. IMO, they have the best one around. The sauerkraut was so good too. I really should've taken a photo but it just looked too delicious. The SO cleaned his plate so I'm guessing there were no complaints there, lol. They do have a selection of desserts as well, but we were simply too full.

But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.
