So I ordered food for pickup. I got the cheese sticks (tequenos) they were good, a little cold by the time I got back. There were 5 and a pretty good size. I'd try again of eating there but prob not to go. I got the Texan arepas which is their "sandwich" some kind of bread/roll stuffed with goodness. The Texan had chicken and beef, onion, bell pepper, jalepeno, white cheese, tomato and avocado. It was huge! So they give you almost half an avocado and it was perfectly ripe. The jalepenos I didn't find spicy. The garlic sauce is delightful! The star was probably the cheese! They call it white cheese, it's a thick cut (at least twice a regular slice). It's soft and mild and wonderful. If you get a different sandwich get that cheese! I couldn't eat it all. I ordered an extra side of garlic sauce, and paid for it but didn't get it. It's all a little pricey (over $30 for these items and no drink). It also took about twice as long as they originally said so keep that in mind. It really was a very good experience, I love trying new things. I'd definitely go back if I find myself in Killeen again! read more

The tostones was so amazing a great way to my heart, from all the fresh vegetables and so much flavor in every bite. The 3 piece was enough for me and the wifey but if you come with an appetite definitely get your self a bigger order. We tried the arepas, I had the Texan and that didn't disappoint at all!!! The meat was so flavorful! The wifey had the pabellon arepas the shredded meat over powered the whole thing but don't get me wrong it was delicious just a little heavy on the meat. My second time here and it is still a nice place to have lunch. Arepitas specializes in Venezuelan Cusine. You can get bowls, platters, wraps, and burgers filled with vegetables and meat. Today, I had the Pabillon. This is a bowl full of shredded beef, black beans, cabbage, plantiens, cheese, and avacado. It has all the nutrients you should be eating and tasted delicious! The server comes quickly to get your drink order and then your food order. The total time we waited before eating was about 10 to 15 minutes. The server came back several times to refill our drinks and to remove used dishes. They didn't even complain when we continued to talk after finishing our meal. A very comfortable atmosphere. The place is clean with many tables to dine at. Takeout is also available. The next time you are in the mood for some Latin. Food, please stop by Arepitas and fill the void you might have. read more

Had tried their arepas before but never been to the establishment. I had the Llanera Arepa and my husband had the Hairy Arepa. Both were really good. Some may think the price of the arepa is high since you only get one in the order however the arepa is big and super stuffed with food!! It is so worth it!! We also had their side order of Yuca, fried cassava, served with a sauce which was delicious! My son had the kids menu Chicken tenders, they were a tad over cooked but he managed to eat some of it. If you love pineapple, try their Natural Pineapple drink! It's super good and refreshing! Our waiter was super nice and very attentive. It's a pleasant calm atmosphere. A lot of natural lighting. One of the last places we checked out in Texas was this lovely Venezuelan restaurant! They had various vegetarian options that could easily be made vegan, so it was perfect for us. All of the staff welcomed us as soon as we walked in & continued to be very attentive throughout our meal. The only thing about the menu was that there were zero prices on anything, so when it came to paying the bill, we had no clue what to expect. We first ordered drinks: a tall beer & a zero calorie gin drink that came with strawberries & cucumbers. It was so refreshing! For our appetizer, we got the Tostones - green plantain chips that were breaded, with a mixed cabbage salad, white fresh cheese, avocado, cilantro, & "house sauces". The sauces listed on the menu were mayoketchup, honey mustard, special sauce, spicy sauce, & garlic sauce. Every bite was packed with flavor, & the chips were much bigger than we expected. My husband ordered the Vegetarian Arepa which was HUGE! It came with white cheese, sweet plantains, avocado, & cabbage, & then he added portobello mushrooms & black-beans. I tried the dough & it was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, & very yummy! I ended up ordering the Palmito Salad to cut back on the carbs. It consisted of mixed lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, avocado, hearts of palm, olive oil, & balsamic dressing. I also requested a side of the spicy sauce for extra flavor.
