    Whole fish

This was maybe my third or fourth time visiting Banana Blossom, and I've honestly had a great experience every time. BUT I always came specifically for the whole fish... and they were always sold out. So when I finally got it today? Baby it was worth the wait! First of all, the fish is HUGE. It literally barely fits in my togo box. Crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside, sitting in a kind of garlic sauce and topped with diced mango and onions that gave it the perfect sweet + savory balance. I also got the roti (which is a MUST every single time you come here). Golden, flaky, buttery layers served with dipping sauce...I don't think I've ever looked around and not seen roti on every table. I took myself on a little solo date and sat at the bar, which I actually loved. The staff, as always, was sweet, attentive, and super helpful. Now let's talk about the White Lotus cocktail! So pretty with the orchid garnish and tropical vibes, but even better tasting. Fruity, smooth, slightly creamy...you can taste the mango and Saint-Germain, and it had that perfect refreshing finish. Definitely one of those "order again" drinks. Overall: great food, beautiful presentation, strong drinks, and consistent service. If you've been debating the whole fish, just get it. And don't forget the roti. I'll absolutely be back (again).

Server didn't introduce themselves. Happy hour 5-7. Yummy yummy sweet plum wine. Had katsu ramen , spring rolls, fried dumplings ( taste like frozen) sauces were good. Would not order again. Glad they were happy hour priced Quick service. Clean and beautiful. Fresh flowers in several places. Great bar. Great drink menu. Precarious parking. Open dinner service at 5 we got there at 6:30 and it got increasingly busy after.

TLDR: high quality food Really banging Thai food with occasional Southern and Korean influences. Come hungry because the food hits hard.

We dined here over the summer as this Thai restaurant has been on my radar for a long time. We made reservation, which I highly recommend. I would consider this place a more upscale Thai establishment compared to others in New Orleans. The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was. The restaurant is not very big, it seats maybe 40 customers. There is a long table top in the center of the restaurant with sort of high chairs, and that can seat your large party. The other tables are tables for 2 or 4 people. There is nice clean decor throughout as well as this beautiful giant plant in the center of the main table. The parking is off street as well and if you are going during a high peak time, you may need to walk a distance. We ordered lots of apps. The fried dumplings, the eggrolls, the steamed dumplings, and the pork belly. I think pork belly as probably my favorite and I enjoy the dumplings and their sauces, but the pork belly was my star. I ordered the chicken ramen as my entree, it was good, I was expecting a bigger portion, but I was definitely full when I left. I didn't find the flavors singing to me like some of Thai restaurants I have tried like Good Catch or Cafe Equator or TukTuk. I did enjoy my meal and like that the photos on the menu match the dishes, complements on the perfect execution of plating. The manager came out and spoke to us; he was very friendly and welcoming. I have been on a journey to try as many of the Thai restaurants in the city as I can. And this is probably the best one on the West Bank (at least so far). So although this was darn tooting good, it was not blowing my boots off.

The service was phenomenal, but the food was just not had good as it looked. The best thing I ordered was the crab fried rice. Everything was either very sweet or not flavorful, no in between. Willing to give this place another try since I have friends they highly recommended it.

Banana Blossom has the most consistent Thai flavors there are in New Orleans. We started with the crispy dumplings and roti that were amazing! Light and fluffy was the roti, and hearty was the dumpling. My wife ordered the Hawaii 504 while I had the smoked wings Chiang Mai. The Hawaii 504 was good but the shrimp was soggy due to the sauce underneath. The smoked wings had excellent flavor, but needed more flavor in the broth. Overall, with such amazing service and ambiance; this is the Thai place to hit

Is small, but quiet, it's selected, but great, the service is always great. Today Genesis made my day. The spot is small and can be loud. It's not for romance, but it's for cute. The food is great. Just go.

Nice cozy neighborhood restaurant with flavorful food and quick service. Drinks were also good with a great selection. The only issues we faced were parking. Will definitely visit again.

Back at Banana Blossom and this time it was for my birthday! I added this place to my birthday weekend list for a reason- the food always slaps! It was a busy Friday night and I'm glad we got there when we did because it only got busier and a party of 5 can sometimes be hard to accommodate on a busy evening. Anyway, we were seated and I ordered a Thai tea, of course. I also went ahead and ordered my usual Chiang Mai curry with the coconut shrimp. My parents ordered the Hawaii 504 and the another entree that I don't remember. My brother had the lamb Chiang Mai curry and his girlfriend had the ribeye ramen. It was all so good! A few of us had leftovers by zero complaints. Then the server brought out the fried cheesecake with a candle and made sure that we had plates and such to share. It was decadent and delicious but I could only at a little boy.

We love this restaurant and try to go frequently. This time we started with 2 blueberry lemon drops which were very tasty. We started with coconut shrimp which was so good. My husband had his usual, the Kapao Ribeye and i had the Chiang Mai Noodle with crispy chicken. This is one of the best entrees i have eaten at any restaurant. The service was great and the prices were very reasonable. I cannot wait to go back.

The curry!!!! I'm no curry expert however, this is the best curry I've ever had! I wish I could just drink it. My goodness!! The service is good. Very friendly folks here. The drinks are great!! I went here twice like a week apart because I needed more curry

Such a hidden gem! No name on the outside--just a ramen bowl decal--and I'm obsessed with the mystery. I suggested the owner add a tiny banana to the bowl for a cute touch while keeping the vibe. The caramelized ribs were sticky and delicious, the Thai tea was bomb, and the portions are HUGE. I had the curry veggie ramen with roti (so good!), and my mom loved the coconut shrimp pad Thai. Super clean, adorable space with major flavor. Definitely coming back!

Food was mediocre at best. Not the traditional Thai food we were after and not worth the price.

Someone finally came over to take our drink order. We realized that there was only one person working in the whole restaurant. We knew they did not serve liquor so we asked for iced tea,,,,NONE. We ordered water. We reviewed the laminated, colorful menu (which made the place feel like a chain restaurant.) We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak dumplings and the Crawfish dumplings. Both had obviously been frozen and then either microwaved or steamed. I took one bite of the cheesesteak dumpling and they had heated it up TOO much so it burned my lip and tongue. I waited about 5-7 minutes and took another bite. They were rubbery and, as hard as it is to believe, they both tasted the same. The steamed dumplings were better, but not by much. We will not be going back. There are other dumpling places to try.

The service was also good. I was greeted when I walked in and my food was ready in a decent amount of time. I tried so many flavors of dumplings. I liked the majority of them. There was maybe 2 flavors I tried that were just ok. I tasted a few flavors that were unlike anything else I've tried. The problem is I don't remember the names of the ones I really liked so that gives me an excuse to go back and try a bunch more lol

Thankfully, Magazine Street offers plenty to do to pass the time! When we were finally seated, our table was toward the back near the kitchen. The interior is a cozy but tightly packed space, which means it gets pretty loud with all the chatter bouncing around. However, any issues with the crowded feel vanish once the food arrives. The food and service easily make up for it. Our waiter brought out complimentary fried beef dumplings with a house-made chili sauce that tasted incredible. We ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice (shrimp, pork, chicken, egg, pineapple, and onions) and it was absolute perfection. We also got the lightly battered Orange Ginger Chicken with broccoli, which had amazing flavor. Well worth the visit!
