I finally got to try the famous gumbo ramen from Thai Nola and now I completely understand the hype. I first tried it at the restaurant, then had to get it again during French Quarter Fest because I could not stop thinking about it. It is honestly one of the most creative and flavorful dishes I've had in New Orleans. The broth is rich, smoky, spicy, and packed with deep gumbo flavor. Every bite had something in it. Shrimp, sausage, chicken, vegetables, noodles, and so much seasoning without being overpowering. The ramen twist somehow works perfectly with the New Orleans style gumbo base. It feels like comfort food with a creative upgrade. What I really loved is that even at a busy festival, the quality was still amazing. The portions were generous and the food came out hot and fresh. If you see the gumbo ramen on the menu, get it. Don't even second guess it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To be honest the ambiance was cool but the flavor of their food makes you forget about anything else around you!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I visited Thai Nola on a Thursday afternoon. There weren't a lot of patrons, but I could see the kitchen staff was busy with to go orders. We were greeted quickly and chose our seats. There was a kiosk where we could order, but we ordered with the server. He was nice, but a little inattentive at times. He explained the heat levels, and suggested heat level two for our food. The portions were huge. We took food home, after barely making a dent. I got drunken noodles and Thai tea. The tea was a bit too sweet for my liking, but it was still good. The fusion of New Orleans and Thai food is intriguing. There was a menu board outside with specials that definitely reflected Louisiana cooking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The menus and chairs had a little wear and tear on them, but that did not distract me from enjoying my food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I appreciated being able to tap my phone to pay instead of them having to take my card. I would go back to try other dishes.
I drive in from Dallas often and every time I always like my first stop to be Thai Nola. The food is always 10/10 but the customer service is like no other. Let's just say when my daughter came home I had to sneak up on her to get this photo. The size of the serving was perfect. The thinly cut carrots and chicken delicately placed in the container with the perfect amount of bean sprouts.....service was prompt..... [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance felt like I was at home waiting for my plate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Gotta go back again.

The portions are huge, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. I had the garlic stir-fry and shrimp in a blanket, and everything was just so good. I don't have a of the shrimp but trust me, the flavors were there, and I had enough to bring home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, this is a great spot for groups. You could fit about 10 people in there comfortably without it feeling tight.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I truly enjoyed everything about it and will definitely be back!

This place was amazing! From the service to the amazing food everything was a 10/10. The food was great and very fresh. The Thai tea was my absolute favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also there is a good amount of seating options inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
We ordered take-out from this place and it was definitely a hit! Not pictured here was a delicious shrimp pad Thai (level 2 heat). It was just the right amount of kick. Would love to actually eat at the restaurant next time we're in town!

My first experience at Thai Nola was definitely a mixed one. The food was really good, but unfortunately the customer service experience had several hiccups that made the visit much more frustrating than it needed to be. When I first walked in, it took about five minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Once a waitress finally came over, I explained that I was placing an order to go, so I headed over to the bar area. The bartender greeted me and things started off pretty smoothly until he informed me that all of the cooks had just gone to lunch and it would be about a 20 minute wait before they could even take my order. Normally I probably would've gone somewhere else, but it was getting later in the day and several of the other restaurants in the neighborhood were getting close to closing, so I decided to wait. Once the cooks returned, he took my order, but then I was told their credit card machine was down and they were only accepting cash or Zelle. Luckily, I had cash, so that wasn't a huge problem. However, after paying, I noticed I was shorted about 86 cents in change. When I asked about it, I was told they didn't have any change available. It wasn't enough money for me to make a big deal about, so I just let it go, but it was still another small inconvenience added to the experience. I waited another 20 minutes or so and started noticing food coming out of the kitchen. The bartender brought several to-go orders out and placed them on the counter. After another 10 minutes passed, I finally started wondering where my food was. One of the hostesses asked for my name, checked through the orders sitting on the counter, and sure enough my order had already been sitting there At that point, I was definitely frustrated. It honestly felt like everything that could've gone wrong during my first visit somehow did. Once I got home and finally sat down to eat, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The quality of the food made me understand why people enjoy this place, and I would definitely be willing to give Thai Nola another try. I just really hope my next visit comes with a smoother customer service experience because the food deserves better. read more

We actually found this place on Instagram while they were at a festival and decided to stop by and grab some food. First off -- the food itself was VERY fresh, flavorful, and honestly really good. The portions are absolutely humongous. Like... huge. My husband was born and raised in East New Orleans, where this restaurant is located, so he knows the area very well. This place seems fairly new though, so we wanted to support a small business and give it a try. One thing I will say is the customer service wasn't the friendliest. There were only two of us, and with the amount of food we ordered, I feel like they could've at least warned us about how large the portions were. We originally ordered the 5-piece wings, but they didn't have that option available, so they automatically gave us the 10-piece without really explaining it or saying anything beforehand. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe honestly felt a little like you have to know people there to get the full welcoming experience because we noticed other customers getting smiles and a little more interaction, while ours felt very dry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not sure what that was about. Also, the food does take a LONG time to come out, but you can definitely tell it's freshly made, so I can appreciate that. Overall, despite the service not being the best, the food was really good and worth trying. I'd definitely order from here again if we're back in the area -- but probably to-go next time. This place is a must try if you're looking for great food with great flavor!! Parking lot, so no issue there. Quaint spot but everything you need. I got there when they first opened and they got busy fast, both dine in and take out. The people are so personable and welcoming. The owner was out greeting and mingling with everyone. I was there for one thing, the gumbo ramen. While I waited, I ordered the shrimp in blankets. They were fried to order and came out hot. Tgey were ok with the sweet and sour sauce. Then, I got my ramen. The bowl was huge and came topped with a snow crab. It was piping hot!! Full of shrimp, chicken, sausage, hot sausage, carrots, onions, etc. Spoonful of meat with everyone dip and perfectly cooked ramen noodles. It's a spicy dish too, which I love!! It's a really nice portion. I sat there for an hour and barely put a dent in the bowl. I think it's enough for two people honestly. This is a definite winner. Food not up to par and pricing doesn't match. The photos on website was not what I received. When I opened my order I told the worker and he just shrugged. Didn't offer anything to make it right. Grease that was used for chicken tastes old as well. read more
I was finally able to try something from Thai NOLA at French Quarter Fest. I had the gumbo ramen and it was delicious, although the noodles were scarce and the other contents of the gumbo were different from a typical gumbo. I do wonder if this dish is on the regular menu at the restaurant because I would get it again...I love Thai food and this is not quite a Thai dish but it was tasty. read more

The rice plate was STUFFED. My only complaint was I believe I ordered mild, because I can't do spice, especially Thai spice, was wayyy too spicy, where as it was almost unbearable to enjoy but nonetheless, I powered through. This was my first time here. Wasn't sure what to expect especially in the East. Ordered the crab rice. It comes in a platter with crab legs, snow crab and claw meat. It was ok... I am not sure if I would order it again. The sauce is a bit sweet and the crab meat was a little salty. They give you a cluster of snow crab. Went to pick up and the lady at the register was nice. Amazing! The owners (including the daughter) were super welcoming. The husband greeted us upon arrival. The space is a bit tight but large enough for a standard wheelchair. I started off with the crab rangoons. I INHALED these. LOL. They were piping hot and full of creamy goodness. I am used to crab rangoons being a tad sweeter, but these were still delicious. I had the red curry with spice level 2 for my entree. I am a spice girl, but boy did this pack a punch. I'm glad I went with level 2. LOL. The dish was so rich and flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return for this. I also tried the crab fried rice. The portion is enormous and definitely enough for 2-4 people. This was a nice treat as well and packed with a lot of crab. A couple people found the rice a bit overcooked but I thought it was fine (which was odd since I'm a stickler for perfectly cooked rice that errs on the side of firm). Surprisingly, the gumbo was my least favorite. This is the only item I wouldn't get again when I return. The roux was extremely thin and it tasted a bit on the fishy side. Maybe this is the intention though! Overall, I was impressed by Thai NOLA and I definitely think it lives up to the hype! read more

Good Lawd that was good. I'm in town from California visiting Family.My Sister told me that Thai NOLA had some of the best Tai food she has had even in California. Challenge accepted. I have to say that was very good. In fact absolutely some of the best I've ever had, even in California. I started slow this visit with the Pad Thai. My thinking was that if they can't cook Pad Thai nothing else would make sense. I got the Combo Pad Thai with Shrimp Beef and Chicken. My goodness, that was good. I can't wait to try the Oxtail Special before I head back to California. When I find a good Restaurant I have a habit of going back the next day if possible. It's possible. Lol! I had a chance to meet the Owner, Gerald who is a great guy. I Love how their daughter is there working after school. Teach them young. The Restaurant is a whole Vibe with happy people and the Owner treating everyone like family from what I observed. If in New Orleans, especially New Orleans East stopping by here is a must. If you know you me you know I love Thai. So happy to have a Thai restaurant in New Orleans East! The food is exceptional and the owner is always personable and going above and beyond to satisfy the customers. The restaurant is small but I've dined in twice and the service was great. The crab fried rice here is delicious and the sauce served with it gives a wonderful spicy addition. The owner recommended E3(pad ga pow) and it was a great recommendation. read more

Food came hot and fast. Hit being a good thing, fast not so much. Ordered Spring rolls that comes with a sweet and sour sauce and also requested soy sauce. I received a small container of ketchup. Had the Pad Thai with double protein (chicken) which was extra, and I'm finding myself searching the noodles for the chicken. Never the less the pad Thai very is delicious. Just be careful to check your order, sucks that I had the food delivered and there were so many problems with the food that couldn't be immediately corrected. read more

As someone who loves thai food, I was very happy to hear that there was a thai restaurant in my neighborhood. Went here with my Mom and we were both thoroughly impressed! Great location in New Orleans East (Pat Swilling Complex)! The owners and staff were very nice and helpful but most importantly the food was delicious! My Mom had the Pad Thai (thin ice noodles sauteed with egg, bean spouts, green onions, in a sweet and sour tamarind sauce), this dish was very good and the serving size was huge. I had the Pad Ga Pow (Basil stir fry with carrots, green beans, and bell peppers over a bed of rice, and topped with a thai style fried egg). It was so good, will definitely be getting this again. Note Thai food is very spicy, so let them know your tolerance level. read more

I have patronized them several times and the food, customer service, and ambiance are always consistent and top tier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just last night a friend and I dined in and we had a great experience. I tried a new dish (the stir fried ramen) that was recommended by the owner and it was as great as he said it was. My friend had the drunken noodles and she loved those as well. The Crab Rangoon and shrimp rolls as appetizers never disappoint. I also always get an order of the Thai style fried rice to go (G1). I also love that the prices are reasonable and you get very large portions so my family eats off of our leftovers through the next day lol. This place is absolutely one of my faves!
