    Shrimp Wonton Soup (small)
    Mai L.

I ordered pick up to go and when I got there on a Wednesday night - they were busy! Lots of takeout orders but diners as well so that made me excited that it was most likely going to be delicious! I ordered a small Shrimp Wonton soup. It was super flavorful and I ate the whole thing. I love mushrooms (which I know not everyone does) so I loved the flavor it added. I got vegetable pad see lew. It's was a big portion with good chunks of veggies in it. I've had this dish in so many places and each restaurant either uses wide rice noodles or narrow thicker ones. This one used the narrow ones which isn't my first choice but the flavors were still there. I'll definitely be back to try other things!

Banana Leaf has a little bit of everything you're Asian palate is craving. Casual, easy dining with fast, comforting plates -- and perfectly located when you need a quick sit‑down meal between shops. Reliable, unfussy, and exactly what you want when you're out and about.

Had an AWESOME quick lunch at Banana Leaf Asian Bistro in West Glen. Food arrived fast and fresh, and very tasty. I wish it had been spicier, we ordered some spice, but a little side of Thai chili added did the trick. Beef Drunken Noodle: perfectly cooked, not soggy at all. Beef was very VERY tender, which I don't find as often in Thai restaurants. Flavor was spot on, serving plentiful. Pork Fried Rice: again, super flavorful, and pork was tender. Shrimp Thai Noodle Soup: with rice noodles and shrimp was awesome. Great flavors and perfect size for lunch. We were in and out within 30 minutes. Service was attentive and kind. I tend to forget about this place but need to keep it on my radar!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]More space inside than it looks from the outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Menu is very extensive with a wide variety. Excellent sushi options. Went with server recommendation for the Basil Fried Rice with Chicken. Delicious. Looks like fair-priced lunch menu specials, so will need to come back. Friendly staff and great service.

Stopped in for lunch. Had fried spring rolls to start. They were crispy & fresh. Soup & a little wonton came with our meal--didn't know we were getting that. Soup was light & warm. The wonton had great flavor but was cold. It probably sat on plate to be ready for a diner. My Sesame chicken was good. I asked for medium heat & it was just right. Hubby's Mongolian beef was tasty. He ordered medium & would have liked more heat. Waitress was very friendly & polite. Meal was reasonably priced. There was an up charge for fried rice. We'll be back!!

    Spring roles

Went here looking for vegetarian fare. We ordered the stir fried vegetables with fried tofu. My wife had the spring roles. The dishes were brought out immediately, the stir fry was delicious and the tofu added a nice textural difference. The sauce was light but tasty. The spring role is probably one of the healthiest we have experienced of its kind. Everything fresh and nothing fried. They are served with three dipping sauces. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was solid, service was good, and the ambience was pleasing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Worth a visit.

The food itself was really good . The basil thai style was amazing (would recommend with chicken over the beef). But the calamari was like $10 for NOTHING. Other than that pretty good !!

Worst Pad Thai. This place used to be great, maybe just an off day. I used to love this restaurant.

Was promptly seated and didn't have to wait long to get my order in or receive my food. Now I was in early so I could see how it could get busy as service picks up because seating can be a little limited. The restaurant was clean and decorated well enough. The location doesn't do it many favors but the food is good so I'll likely come back. I requested the New Delhi-Style Noodles because I enjoy yellow curry dishes and was needless to say I was impressed. The vermicelli noodles were great dipped into the accompanying fish sauce with curried chicken bites in between. The portion was solid for lunch and I didn't feel like I needed more to get me through until dinner. Only gripe is maybe the price is a little high for anything other than chicken but that's life right now. I'll likely stop back in to try a few more dishes when I'm back in the area.

Potstickers were just okay. The dipping sauce didn't do them any favors--this felt like an easy upgrade they're missing. Imperial Egg Rolls were the biggest letdown. At $17 for three, I expected something memorable...they just weren't. Pad Thai landed squarely in "average." Grilled Honey Roast Chicken Egg Noodles was a mixed bag. The chicken itself was delicious, but the noodles were pretty bland--and oddly, they didn't really work together. Royal Fried Rice was a win. The combo of BBQ pork, sweet sausage, and shrimp came together really well. Seafood Noodle dish was unfortunately pretty bland. All in all, a few bright spots, but not a place we're rushing back to--though I'd reorder those wings without hesitation.

We try one new restaurant each month just to keep things fresh, so this time I suggested Fawn's. I'm really glad we did. I had heard so many great things about the food so I was excited to try it. When I saw the menu, though, I was a little nervous because they serve Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Laotian food. In my experience, restaurants that try to serve all kinds of Asian food rarely do one or all of them well. I ordered Pad Thai and my husband got Evil Jungle Prince. I was very pleased. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was SO good! My husband loved his dish, too. It had chicken and vegetables with a spicy sauce made with red curry and coconut milk. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. We each got two meals out of our dinners. I love it when that happens. The place isn't fancy. It's in a small strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside it's very clean and well-kept. There's not much for ambience besides two flat screen TVs. It doesn't matter because it's the food that really stands out. The service was excellent, too. My husband had his iced tea refilled twice without even asking. Great affordable food and good service. What more can you ask for? If you love Asian food, give them a try. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

I had asked her twice if they could turn the music down, which she did ask the guy behind the bar, I don't know if he was a bartender or a cook, but I heard him say what do they want, I've turned it down four times. Well, yes, I did overhear that I was sitting very clause to the bar. It was very rude of him, and I had been very kind and requested that the music be turned down some. The food was pretty good, I had the fig and creamy goat cheese flatbread. Overall, it might be a very good place for other people, rudeness is not acceptable.

While a bit of a hidden gem off of 86th Street, the building is modern, chic and inviting - with a large covered patio area connected to the north side of the building. The one negative is that the temperature is kept very cold inside, so consider bringing a sweater or light jacket to stay comfortable. Unfortunately, tonight was a bit cold outside, so it was a coinflip on which was better - we opted for the patio seating and the wind settled down during our visit to get quite comfortable. We started with a Cuban Martini and Sojito (see picture) along with an order of Bang Bang Shrimp (see picture) for an appetizer. We enjoyed the drinks and the Bang Bang Shrimp with the drizzled Yum Yum-type sauce was delicious! For our main courses, my wife ordered the Thai Pasta (see picture) and I opted for the Fig, Avocado and Goat Cheese Salad (see picture). As is our custom, we both shared bites from each of our plates and liked both of them very much - although the Thai Pasta definitely had a bit more 'kick'. We ordered the Tres Leches for dessert (remembering it from our last visit), but unfortunately found that they were sold out, so had to leave without dessert.
