This is a much smaller, down to the point kind of Banana Republic. It's good for coming in and picking out an outfit for a special occasion, in my case, a wedding the next day. Everyone here is very helpful and lovely, I appreciated all of the help I received when I was frantically looking for my last minute outfit. I like this Banana Republic location! I've been here a few times recently. The clothing is beautiful, and the service is good. I think the home decor is nice at this store as well. I recently returned some items here that I previously bought online. I found some great blazers that were on sale. I think the sales associate mentioned that most clothing items were 40% off as well! After I returned the items I brought in, the salesperson ordered the blazer I wanted in the correct size, and it made me so happy to find out it was on sale! Although the home decor is expensive, it's beautiful and really comfortable. I loved looking at all the wall art and bedding. The chairs were especially comfortable but very pricey. The furniture is lovely here! For great apparel and good customer service, this will be a nice stop when shopping for clothing for work! read more

With many companies scaling back their storefronts it's always a shame to lose a favorite store that's relatively closer to home. In our case it was the closure of the store at Victoria Gardens that's most felt. Sure, there are outlets in Redlands, Cabazon, and Ontario Mills, but when it comes to service, selection, and fresh styles, nothing beats a Frontline store. This is my review of my favorite Banana Republic store, beautifully situated on the Newport Coast above the Crystal Cove Seashore. I've lost count of how many years I've shopped here, possibly since 2014? A long time and I've kept my wardrobe updated and fresh, between here and John Varvatos. BR is much cheaper though. Employees have generally been friendly and helpful, there's one lady we've noticed for years who we like a lot. She's so sweet and kind. That, to me, is a good sign that the company provides a stable environment for someone to work in for a long time. Finally, walking in for periodic sales is a pleasant surprise. Warning to all purchasers. Don't lose your receipt. Don't trust their electronic system being able to retrieve your information....Not unless you want to be put in a defense mode. I purchased some items a week and a half prior. Upon my returning them, I couldn't find the receipt initially. I then provided them with the credit card I used, my phone number, and my email address. I even went into my credit card statement app and found the date that I purchased them and the amount. Showing this to them, still unacceptable. I requested The general manager to call me since she wasn't in. Fortunately I went back to my car and found it. Moral of the story. Make sure you save your receipt or ask for an email receipt. Their system is not up-to-date like a Neiman Marcus or a Bloomies... where they can retrieve your information in seconds when they scan the clothing ticket. read more

I guess I didn't hear that Banana Republic closed most of their physical stores but lucky for me that this location in Crystal Cove is still open. I usually order a few items in the same size because I don't always go shopping in person (blame Amazon). Clearly, my intention is to return what doesn't fit. My husband and I made the trek over to this location to return the items I didn't need. Service was super expedient but parking was a bit of a mess. This area is busy with restaurant customers and shoppers, which is why also offer valet. We had circled the lot a few times before finding a car that was leaving. While I wish I could afford to live in this area, I'm happy that I live a few cities over where I can shop and return, as needed. I hope they keep this store open because it's basically the only one in the area to physically return items. I suppose I could ship things back but that takes longer. read more

You might think that the stores hidden in the Crystal Cove Promenade are the fancy-schmancy ones but you'd be wrong. There are several stores where good deals can be had like this Banana Republic. This location at Crystal Cove is average sized (but smaller than South Coast Plaza). Seems to be well stocked though. And my experience with employees has always been more than pleasant. The great thing about this location is that it is never crowded. I hate fighting crowds so that's a major plus for me. Even today - December 26th - it was not a zoo, even with a huge mega sale going on. Nice. read more

I only come to this Banana Republic location due to the location being in front of the ocean area and having friendly, great customer service that few of the staff members gave me. I greatly appreciate the wonderful and awesome suggestions and service that Winnie gave as she was fully helpful in every way. Maria or Marie was also great along with the manager that was on duty. Jason, your team members especially Winnie was outstanding! She is very professional, friendly, has a great taste in fashion as I went there to get a few items for an upcoming interview. Winnie provided great suggestions and great customer service. I felt that few of the other staff members were kind of rude and unprofessional, but Winnie stepped in and took over. As a petite woman, finding work clothes that don't require tailoring is a chore within itself. I typically go to Nordstrom for my work clothes but since they've decreased their petite selection in-stores, I decided to shop at Banana Republic instead. This particular store has a very large men and women's section. Call me a noob, but I didn't realize Banana Republic had so much petite size clothing. The best part is that, we, petite women, aren't shoved into some remote section of the store. Our size XXS, XS, 0, 00 is incorporated with everyone else! We're real and recognized people here -- WOOHOO! Looking for a size 00? Your size is right in front of all the regular storefront shelves and hangers. I was a bit disheveled coming back from the beach right before coming here but the sales women were extremely friendly and helpful (no Pretty Woman episode here! ... I was wearing a Pikachu t-shirt looking for clothes suitable in a corporate office, hehe). I told the sales woman I was looking for work clothes and in a size petite, she helped me look around the store for what I needed. She even pulled cute pieces from the sales section so that I could choose from virtually every petite size clothing that was in-store (have I said petite enough times, yet?). After that, she hung up my clothes in the changing room as I shopped more and then left me peacefully and happy while I tried on everything. All the prices were wonderful too. But best of all, the clothing fit me perfectly (I am 5'2 and 100lbs) when typically, I have to pay extra to tailor my clothing. Here, a piece of clothing is approximately the same cost as tailoring two pieces of clothing. So that's wonderful. Bought many things that are now a staple in my work wardrobe. I'll surely make this particular location my new go-to. They are a stark contrast to the negative review that I left at Nordstrom, South Coast Plaza. Petite women, rejoice here! read more

I find Banana Republic blissful when they're running a sale :-) Last time I was there for one, I found a dress that was originally priced at $150 that was marked down to $119, and then further discounted 50% to an out-the-door price of only $60. Normally, I would talk about what a great location this is, how much I like that I can just run in for something without a trip to the mall. That's the only good thing I can say about the Crystal Cove Banana Republic, because my experience there today was entirely ruined by one saleswoman. Unfortunately, I didn't get his woman's name, because she was too busy espousing her racial theories with me. You see, my family happens to be a minority and my daughter's blonde hair is not common for people with our background (but let's face it, blonde hair is not common. period). This woman walks up to my husband, daughter, and myself and asks what our ethnicity is (NOT Welcome to BR, can I help you? etc). I was appalled and tried to walk away, but my husband, in his shock, answered her. This woman then saying that she can "always tell" what someone's ethnicity is insisted that my daughter must have " some other ethnicity in her mix." Seriously?! I was so extremely, blindingly angry that my husband stopped me from talking to management for fear of making a scene. I wish I had, but at least I can put this review here. What is not to love about Banana Republic. I love shopping at Banana Republic, as I always find an amazing piece of clothing and an amazing deal. Every store is great but what makes this particular store in Newport Coast in the amazing ocean views you get as you are walking out this store or any store in this shopping center. The employees are super friendly and they make you fell welcome and don't put that sales pressure on you. They let you roam around the store but always nearby ready to assist you should you need help. Really big and spacious store that is super clean and organized. I broke down over the weekend and "splurged" at BR - after my experience in NYC, I was wanting to check out the sales back home. Good thing I held back then, because everything was now an ADDITIONAL 20% off! Unheard of! Found a nice sweater, pinstripe blue slacks, and jeans that f-i-t. Between that and (yikes) opening a BR card, each piece only came out to about $40. I can't get myself to purchase things full price, much less purchase it from BR, so I will just call this particular shopping trip an anomaly. read more

This store was irresponsible. I purchased a few items on sale in the summer, I paid by personal check and the store not only cashed my check, but neglected to apply it to my Banana Republic Account. After Months of trying to clear it up. Wrinting to Texas home office, No response. Having contacted multipul people on line, in their credit department. Xeroxing my check sending it to many many parties, both sides which clearly shown it was cashed by some one. Written out to Banana Republic, proof positive. They still caused me multipul days and days with out resolution. Their credit department does not give a hoot about their customers. Walked in to buy some items for my trip this week had the worst customer service. Not one sales person approached me or even said hello. There was no one else in the store the Sales people saw us and turned away. I saw one woman that looked like she was a customer and and the I saw her behind the cash register. I asked her to work here she said yah and walked to the front of the store as if she was bothered I asked her. Worst experience ever. I quickly left. This is my favorite Banana Republic location. Why? The LOCATION. You have an ocean view from the front door and amazing ocean breezes all throughout the plaza. So back to the store. I've never had a bad experience here. They usually have nicer pieces on sale than the BR's in the malls and the store is generally immaculate with more than enough employees around to help. Fitting rooms are always clean, too. No pressure, extra helpful, not too pushy. Wish the hours were a little longer, but I'm sure they have their reasons. Plus you can go to the beach after. You would think in this day of age you don't run into discrimination, I walked in with my husband to purchase some word robe, my husband went to the men section and the 3 women workers asked him if he wants help, as for me I was wearing sweats not as fancy as they want customers to be. No hello no can I help you? no nothing, I intentionally start walking close to them and all of 3 women workers did not acknowledge me. But they didn't have an issue with women walking in store looking like plastic barbies with louis Vuitton bags, they were greeting them with smiles and followed them everywhere to help them. I am beyond shocked with this store "customer service" for people who dressed normal and not fake,my husband was picking up clothes to purchase I told him to leave everything because there is no way in hell I am spending my money in a place that made me uncomfortable and treat me like I am not worth their time. I had a great experience at this store yesterday. I waited till last minute to pick up an outfit for a dinner last night. I walked through the store a little overwhelmed due to time constraints. I was asked by a couple of sales ladies if I needed help but it was a young lady named Heather who really saved my butt. She walked me through the store showing me clothing she thought would look good on me (I've put on a few pounds lately) and was patient and kind throughout my visit there. She was not hanging over me or being pushy at all. Just the right kind of helpful. I ended up with a darling outfit and ended up getting a few more shirts that were perfect (all her choice). She really was great! If you need help and want a great gal to lead you in the right direction ask for Heather. She will make you feel great! Oh and PS. I was out of there in less than an hour! I was in there this past friday (june 3rd). I went to grad school in Irvine and i loved this place so every time i head back to so cal I try my best to head over to crystal cove and shop there. there was a sales woman (Magdalene? Margery? starts with an M) who was in her 50's-60's and made me feel so unwelcome. Ladies walked in and she asked them if they needed help, a room, anything but I was completely ignored. Now this banana republic doesn't get a ton of foot traffic and that's what i love about it. so it's not like she didn't see me. she just didn't care to help me. I am a minority and i am of color. I always give people the benefit of the doubt but her blatant prejudice made me want to write this review. It's hurtful and frustrating. The lady at the register made up for this salesperson's behavior. She was lovely and apologized for the unprofessional behavior. read more

This used to be my go to for business clothes. It seems their customer service has declined over the past two years. I decided to give them another chance today after my last extremely frustrating visit. I walked around with arm loads of suit options. Not one person asked if I needed help, not one person asked if I needed a fitting room. They were all preoccupied with hanging and organizing the store. Not one person came to check on me in the dressing room. I had to get redressed and hunt for sizes and then let myself back into the fitting room. Today wasn't as bad, but still not like my experiences in years past. I was greeted this time! A nice woman took my clothes to the fitting room. (I had another arm load of suit options.) I am in between sizes at Banana so I really need help with sizes. She did come check on me, but I had only tried on one outfit and wasn't sure about sizes. I made a stack of things to switch out, but she never came back. I waited in my underwear, even peeping out the door saying "hellllllo?" I could hear them forever hanging up clothes. No reply. No one came back. By the time I re-dressed I was frustrated and over the whole experience. As I was leaving, the nice woman came to check on me, but it was too little, too late. Also, this store is constantly out of size L and XL. Get a hint when those are the first sizes to go. Helping customers is more important than rehanging and stocking clothes. Please, please switch your priorities bc I love this store, but I won't be back for a while. read more
