This Gap is one of the largest I have ever seen. I also love the drive I take up the coast to get to this location. It's in beautiful Crystal Cove, so the views are stunning. The staff here are friendly, although sometimes they are slow to help get a fitting room started when you have armfuls of clothing. The fitting rooms are always pretty filthy - PLEASE sweep them! Once a year would help! They also pretty regularly have sales, so keep an eye out for that. Most of the time, they'll give you a coupon with your receipt for 20% off a full price item if you complete the online survey (which takes all of two minutes and is worth it). I've been coming to this gap for years on vacation, and every time we come in around 6:30 (closes at 7pm). Every sales associate is trying to shove all the customers away before closing, they turn off the music at 6:40 and say they're closing. It is super unprofessional and rude how they treat customers want to buy or look around. NEVER have i been kicked out of a retail store 15 minutes before close? It's weird. read more

I never write reviews but I was treated so rudely by a woman with dark hair at this Gap location. My family was in shopping and I walked in to grab my toddler to load her into the car and the older woman with dark hair yelled at me and told me I couldn't come inside. It made me feel so unsafe and I started to cry. It was still 10 minutes to closing and people were still obviously shopping. I was not interested in shopping but merely wanted to grab my toddler. Went in today to shop and grab a couple things and Monica the manager told me not to be touching their clothes because I was becoming to messy. I really am understanding but how am I not supposed to touch the clothes when your team isn't helping me ? Went there with a few friends to shop. One of my friends and I were paying for clothes and when we went to check on our other friends they said the Gap employee (Patrick the manager) was rude to them telling them they were closing and to check out. He told us we were rude for standing around when the store was closing. We did not know the store was closing until he told us we must exit. When we exited we saw the sign said they were open for another hour. It came to a crescendo today when I made a large purchase of gifts and Xmas gifts only to be told I'd have to drive to their sister store to get boxes to wrap them in! I mean, seriously??? She immediately gave me attitude for one of the items not having a tag on it and said the item looked used. Mind you I just received the item in the mail the day prior and it did not come with a tag and was completely unworn just tried on. Would like to highlight this store in particular! I was excited to take advantage of a limited time sale, but had my credit frozen for safety. The manager, Julie, helped her team to accommodate the sale although I needed to take steps to pursue the credit application. It got bit complicated, but the sales reps Ellie and Annessa did all they could to help the situation and my experience. Then, an experienced rep ended up finishing my transaction efficiently. It was honorable to have the sale given, even though it seemed it was an exception based on what had been communicated to me around the sale. They're a fantastic team here and I'm very grateful for their customer service! Thank you ladies!!! read more

This is a gorgeous location. It has a view of the coast and it's right on PCH in Newport Beach. I'm pretty sure you're not coming here for the view, though, so moving on... PRO: 1) It's huge. I've been to Gap stores all over the country, and outside of the San Francisco one, this is one of the biggest ones I've seen. More items = more sale items. 2) There is always a fitting room open. I've been there when people are holiday shopping, and I've never had to wait for a room. 3) The store is very well laid out and there is always an easy to find associate if you have any questions. Cons: 1) There is no cell phone reception in the place. Does that affect your shopping? Probably not, but I don't like it. 2) The fitting rooms are always dirty. It wouldn't take much to sweep the place, but I've never been in a fitting room without a bunch of dust bunnies hanging out with me. 3) At least one of the managers is incompetent. I don't feel like calling him out by name because he FINALLY (45 minutes later!!) fixed the problem, but seriously... if your cashier can't handle an online return (I don't blame her - maybe she was new, but she was nice enough) and has to call you FIVE TIMES... you should have stepped in and fixed it as soon as she called you the second time. If I was in a worse mood, I would have complained. But they definitely lost some sales that day. I walked right out after that. Bottom line, it's a large store with a large selection (they always have swim and Gap Body stuff in their clearance), so as long as you don't mind a little dirt and do your returns elsewhere, it's an OK place. Sign up for their emails. They have 40% off your entire purchase pretty regularly, so you can pretty safely wait for something to go o sale before you buy it. read more

I'm not a die-hard Gap shopper, but with their constant emails offering up to 40% off, how could I resist? So I ordered some nice black pants off their women's premium pant collection and since they advertise that it's free shipping and hassle free returns, I ordered a few extra pairs in different sizes. I guess that's the only downside to online shopping. I had a few pairs of pants that I planned on returning but upon looking for their return policy, I couldn't find it anywhere on the order form mailed with my order. I also had a hard time finding it online and then just decided to call a store. I had called the South Coast Plaza Gap to find out it was a 60 day return policy. Great, I thought, no problemo! Turns out, online returns verses store purchased returns have different return policies. What a horrible overall company policy! Anyways, not wanting to be out over $160 in pants that didn't fit, I looked this up on the internet and found a few forums that said that some Gap store managers are willing to work with the tricky policy if you're still within the 60 day period. Of course, the Gap at South Coast was no help at all, and I decided to call this location at the Crystal Cove Promenade. Austin answered my phone call and sympathized with my situation. He personally said that he would take care of me if I was able to come into the store by the end of the day (Sunday) since he wasn't working the next day. I happily agreed. The return was quick and simple, and voila ~ got a full refund back! GREAT, great customer service!!! The best part was that this location is actually quite large and has a huge section for sale items. I picked up a few things and left an extra happy customer! I'd definitely make the drive out here next time, especially since their customer service was spectacular compared to other locations (yes, I am talking about you South Coast) !! PS. They have a 20% off a regular priced item Yelp check-in offer! I'm surprised to see such a large corporate company with this offer. read more

Eeek is an understatement! Shopper beware! When trying to return something and questioning the "in store credit amount" that I would receive, I asked for a manager. A "manager" showed up and was so rude that I decided to simply ask him for his name and said that I would come back another time. He scribbled on the paper handed it to me and walked off. I said "excuse me, I can't read this" and fortunately caught a glimpse of this name tag before he covered it with his hand and walked away from the counter. I said "Excuse me Patrick?" and he walked away even faster, would not even acknowledge me. I use to like to shop here .... close to Laguna and an easy comfortable store. Never again! However after wasting time digging through my inbox we realized THEY NEVER SENT ANY CODES! Obviously the marketing penny pincher scum bags that came up with this promotion are crossing their fingers that you will either forget or not find your gap cash. As opposed to my previous experience at Gap/HB, I was impressed with the manager's display of excellent customer service here at the Newport Coast Gap!! I did a ton of shopping at Gap for various neice/nephew & baby outfits, as well as comfy loungewear for my sisters and me. So I racked up $70 in reward coupons, which I was about to use here on sweats and t's. The salesguy alerted me first that I could only use (1) $10 certificate per purchase. So. I asked to divide the items so I could use up my coupons...not my problem if that's their policy-always a way to make it win/win. Then he informs me they all expired two weeks prior. My bad for not noticing the fine print on the back and using them on time. But I didnt spend a ton of $ on my Gap card (instead of AA miles cc) to let these be wasted. So he asked his mgr...she did an over-ride. She ok'd the use of all coupons in one transaction (+ the use of the $55 check they mailed me as my refund from a previous return). Oh...those checks they now say they have to mail you: FYI- they have to be used for purchase at their store/not a check that I was told would be a 'refund'. So...I've slightly changed my tune about Gap, but mostly it's this manager at Newport that restored my faith in the bit of quality customer service they still offer. read more
