Online subscriptions approved by DVM are sent in-advance of need. You can shop, chat or research conditions via the Banfield mobile phone application. The staff here is so helpful and caring. Jennifer was helpful, she comforted me and answered all my questions and concerns. Lisa is always helpful as well. Brooke is the manager here & talking to her is always pleasant. Also, Dr Patty is wonderful. She takes her time and expains everything you need to know. I live nearby a banfield but drive the extra mile to the brea location because of the caring staff at this location. They care tremendously for the families our fur babies. read more

Long overdue review but every time I've called, this specific Banfield location has gone above and beyond to provide help to my pets. I learned the hard way at the Whittier location that if your pet passes before the Optimum Wellness Plan expires you're on the hook for the remaining balance but the cost overshadows the true cost of veterinary care. Whittier became difficult to get apps so I tried Brea and I've never gone anywhere else since! This location has ALWAYS offered understanding and empathy when it comes to urgent medical care or vaccines. I've lost 2 pets at this location and the euthanasia process is never easy but I am so grateful for their compassion during such a difficult time. The receptionists staff is so sweet, big shout out to Lisa who always checks in with you! Pet care is getting more expensive and vet offices are exhausted, be kind and know the staff is doing the best they can. Know what you sign up for with the Wellness Plan and see it as preventative care instead of the ONLY care. Vet staff are people too and you can see how they carry these cases with them, so even if I get frustrated or question something, the staff has always gotten back to me and strive to provide the best care for my pets. read more

Scam I have been taking my cats for the last seven years. The only thing they ever did is the normal check up. I tried to cancel four years ago and they convinced me to stay with their willingness program, which is a totally fraud, corporate greed at its best pet owners be careful please. I called to cancel the service as my cats sadly passed. They told me that I owe them close to $1000 obligation for the program. I don't know what program they talking about but I'm intending to go to court to fight these gangsters. Please be careful again. Dr Patty is a godsend. My poor doggy had foot issues for so long without an answer on how to treat. Many different vets and visits with all kind of various treatments. To keep you updated, I received an email from Banfield Corporate that staff at the Banfield Office near Sprouts would contact me. I did receive a voice mail from Brooke as of 10/18/24 who indicated she would be back in the office 10/21 and 10/22. I called 10/22 and left a message with my contact number. Well, as of 10/24/2024 I still have not received a return call from the office. I sent an email to Banfield Corporate Office the same day and not have heard from either. I sincerely doubt I'll hear much from Corporate since I asked that only their office call and not Brea Office who did not respond after I contacted them in attempts to resolve my concerns. Please, if you read this, take it to heart and seek a Doctor elsewhere for your beloved family member. My review is now a 1 Star. This hospital did a double surgery on my puppy not even one year old Frenchie and failed to follow up with her after. They did a C-section and Spay never scheduled her for a follow up appointment and they falsified veterinary visits that never happened to cover themselves. Due to their negligence I have filed a state licensing complaint. Banfield runs our pets care like a conveyor belt on high speed with dollar signs over their head. They don't care about animals they care about locking you in a contract, price gouging you and zero concern for pets. My puppy got herself pregnant with my other male Frenchie which Banfield also treats shame on them because they knew it wasn't a neutered home and even after a physical examination they missed her pregnancy. Me not being a breeder I didn't know she was pregnant and they prescribed her not one but two rounds of high dose metronidazole which a female dog is not supposed to take during her pregnancy. This was confirmed by two other veterinary independent offices that I consulted with. This hospital had no screening process before prescribing medication and No follow through on my poor young dog. Banfield even tried to get me to sign a settlement agreement for their veterinary malpractice that I refuse to sign and when I didn't sign it they stop treating my dog that they did 2 surgeries on and should have done a follow up appointment for. I have attached pictures of my communications with them stay away from this mafia and find yourself a local VET support your local Vet. I am saddened to have to write this review but, in good conscience, it is necessary for those of you shopping for a vet. I have taken my dog here for the majority of his 11 years and, while expensive, I have been satisfied enough to stay. I have always felt the pressure of the upcharges that inevitably come up; nonetheless, I was still satisfied..until recently. My dog developed a mass cell tumor on his leg. After consulting with the Brea doctors, they recommended I take him to Dr. Min at the Orange location (1500 E Village Way Suite 2380, Orange). I opted to go with her for the surgery as she was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and confident. I was instructed to return 3 days post-surgery for a wound check and was told that I could go to the Brea location because it was closer to me. When I did, they said that the wound needed to be cleaned ($47) and rewrapped ($87) for a total of $134.00. I had not been informed of the additional charges, and when I asked if these should be considered part of post-surgery aftercare, they were adamant that I pay these exorbitant charges. Additionally, any rewrap or wound care moving forward would result in the same charges. Thankfully, the Orange location picked up the charges. Upon completion of the appointment, I was not told to return to have the cast removed after three days so I assumed that I was to return after the two weeks as the post-surgery paperwork indicated. When I did return (to Orange because I was still so upset about the $134.00 bandage change at Brea), staff at the Orange location were mortified that the cast had been on for nearly two weeks. Because of this, the wound was badly infected and they had to resuture the wound for proper healing. The Orange location did all of this for no charge and I appreciated their concern for my dog and for the lack of professionalism at the Brea location. My dog is doing okay but healing much longer than what should have been necessary. I would NOT recommend the Brea Banfield location. It has always felt like a money grab, but now I have experienced enough incompetence and lack of true concern for their patients that I am moving on. I would, however, highly recommend the Orange location as they made things right and continue to care compassionately and personally for my dog. read more

DO NOT GIVE HEARTWORM FLEA MED!! We are new to Banfield. They've been ok with the normal routine check ups. They recommended a heartworm and flea med and I decided to put my dog on it, I asked for any side effects, they said little to bone, the lady at the counter even said her 2 pets were on it with no side effects. So I gave her the med, she the 2nd day starting vomiting, her legs started to get spasms and she wasn't the same. She's been a perfectly good healthy playful puppy. When I called Banfield they were of no help, they actually told me to call the manufacturer of the medication and gave me their phone number. after looking up everyone else in the internets pet reactions they have also experienced death. Note to self; don't trust the vet and do your research. Vets are in it for the money. read more

Horrible pet hospital!!! We brought our cat for checking his skin problem last week, they made us wait for a whole day, in the end did nothing and charged us almost $200. Our poor cat was left in a so-called cat room for the whole day shaking and was only fed with water. The most ridiculous thing is the vet doctor never contacted us to explain anything, and all the reason they gave for why it took a long day was their landline was down. WTH? Never will come back again. And because they didn't give us any info useful about our cat's condition, we researched online by ourselves and found out our cat got dermatitis so we ordered some spray from Amazon and then it worked on our cats. Good place for your pet health needs, however The place seems to have changed the interaction experience with the vet. Years ago, I had two dogs on a regular health plan with them and although it was a little costly, i had a personal experience with the vet while treating my pets; I felt as though I got my value and greater satisfaction out of the service. Now, all I get is the vet tech out front who takes my pet back and I get no interaction, no witness to treatment or otherwise. I am sure they will use the Covid excuse for the change in care and such but I don't buy into this. It is a corporate move to "process" more pets and such. I don't even know if there is a vet in the back or if they spend much time with the animal. I will cancel my pet care plan when the year is up. I've been taking my elderly black lab, Princess Leia, here for years. The staff has always taken great care of her and I always felt she was in wonderful hands with them. Earlier this month at just short of 14 years old my Leia lost functionality of her back legs and we had to say goodbye. The staff was so wonderful on making sure the process was as gentle as possible and they were extremely comforting and understanding of what I was going through. A couple weeks later I received a card from them giving their condolences of my lost girl and I cried upon receiving it. So grateful for the care they always provided. read more

I'm very grateful to this Banfield office staff. My dog was limping and not putting any weight on that leg for 2 days. I took him to an emergency vet and hated it there (staff didn't allow pet owners to speak to vet at all), but they ruled out a true emergency. My dog's usual vet was fully booked, no other vet in my area could see him for weeks. I called Banfield in Brea Birch Street and they were able to see my dog within days. The staff was super friendly when I called to make his appointment as well as in person. I LOVED that their office is open for people to come into and allow people to wait for their dogs inside. Dr. Chau thoroughly explained her findings and treatment options. She answered my questions and I did not feel rushed. My dog had surgery to fix a torn knee ligament and although the surgeon is not part of Banfield the vet performs the surgery at Banfield. I felt comfortable leaving my dog there for surgery and everything went smoothly. My only complaint is the staff couldn't answer questions I had about home instructions because they were specific to the surgery and the surgeon is a third party. So I couldn't get direct answers. BUT I did follow the instructions on the printout the surgeon provided and my dog made a full recovery. He walks and runs and resumed normal activity. My other dog also had surgery to remove teeth and a cleaning. I was also very happy with the outcome and my dog recovered at home. I love that they call a day or two after procedures to see how my dogs are doing and they answer any questions I have. I now take my 3 dogs to this location and they are about a 40 minute drive away from me. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I took my cat in last week, they couldn't tell me anything was wrong with her-I signed up for the OWP plan mainly for the discount-which was next to nothing. The next day she wasn't doing so well so I took her back because the vet told me to bring her if she got worse. THEY WOULDNT SEE US. recommended a hospital that wasn't open till 6pm. We went there instead. Unfortunately my cat passed away earlier in the week and I called to cancel the OWP. They won't let me cancel unless I pay the remainder of the plans services that weren't used. My cat is gone with no help from this horrible place and now I am stuck paying for this ridiculous plan that I won't ever be using. Not to mention I took my dog there over 2 years ago to get fixed and she gets blisters every summer because they botched it. Literally HATE this place. They have no idea what they're doing there. Worst customer service ever. We recently moved to Orange County from Corona and decided to find a closer vet. My sister's cat, who is a therapy cat, needed flea treatment so we decided to bring her here. The girls at the front were extremely rude to us when we first walked in. They told my sister she couldn't go back with her cat and that we could come pick her up when she was done with her check-up. About 10 minutes later, we received a phone called telling us to come pick the cat up because she apparently had a vet tech cornered and was batting at her and I guess they were terrified of an 8 lb cat who is around children 24/7. They made an elderly man and his cat wait outside in the hot sun for about 45 minutes because, well, you know, COVID. These folks obviously don't know what they're doing. You're better off finding a better place to take your pets. read more

Feel terrible leaving review regarding pet hospital since we all love our pets. this place is so busy & most of the staff has no idea what they are doing. They constantly waste time confirming appointments. Also several emails it's too much. I recieved 3 calls from them . 3 even after canceling this appointment. I called to cancel. Was called 2 x to be Reminded about appointment even after cancelling. Then was called again morning of appointment not to reschedule but to check if I was coming! Maybe check incoming calls first ? There's a reason I cancelled. Maybe this is why they are always too busy?! Mostly all Calls go to voicemail. Pretty ineffective. What is goin on with front desk? Very confusing not a good system feel like I am getting harrassed. they really push you into expensive treatments procedures etc.. So many employees that don't seem to know what the other staff is doing communication between them needs inprovement. Not sure how a simple cancellation gets to be so complicated. :( read more

I signed up for for the year long contract to pay for my kittens shots and to take care of her through the year the 61.15 a month was supposed to pay for her shots and to spay her but when I go in I get charged and when I wanted to cancel they wanted to charge me over 500.00 for 2 weeks of service I paid over 300 out of pocket, they double charged me for items I paid cash for and services they did not provide. Came here because my newly adopted kitty had fleas and got worms because of it but felt as if they wanted to talk about money instead of her health. They said they gave her a dewormer and we were charged for it but on the receipt it does not say anywhere that they gave it to her nor did they provide details of what type of dewormer they gave her like they did with the flea medicine. Not once did we speak to the vet that did such things to my pet only to receptionist who kept talking about money and kept trying to push their health plan on us. We were not warned that she may be sore from the medicine she received, or about her after care at home, unlike at the other animal hospital I've taken her to since coming here. read more

I am starting with a TWO STAR because the assistants at the counter were nice. The service is questionable. I took my elderly dog because he was scratching. Incessantly. Because my dog doesn't have any allergies - I figured it could be either an allergic reaction or a sting of sort sort. Maybe a spider bite. And since I hike or walk w my dog - daily - these weren't too out of the scope of possibility. I await the call. It comes over 4 hours later. The person on the phone spoke like he was auctioning something. I could not get a word in. Period. Then, as this person was blathering on and on - he mentions nothing about the rear left leg - one of the two (2) SPECIFIC THINGS I had actually taken the dog there for! So, I ask about the hind leg. He stammers. I knew what was coming afterwards...back pedaling. He then said, "Oh yeah. I noticed some arthritis in is hind paw/leg". And it dawned on me that this person - who was giving me veterinarian medical advice for my dog and he had not even LOOKED at my dog! Not only that but he hadn't even looked at what the attendant out front had written down as they why my dog was there - because I saw her write it down. I returned to get my dog and another young lady came out from behind the wall to help. I'm sure she noticed my frustration. Best as she tried, I doubt I'll be back. Dr. Lynn seemed more in tuned with the customer and the patient but she wasn't working that day. When I left my dog at the Pet Hotel - they let his dog food spoil because they didn't refrigerate it. I will say that I have been happy with the treatment but do NOT for any reason sign up for any pet plan. I have for all 4 of my dogs. Recently we had to put one to sleep. I called the corporate office to cancel just to be told I owe almost $500! Basically you have to continue paying monthly even if you lose your dog! It's not like I was canceling by choice. FRUSTRATING MORNING DROP-OFF! We scheduled an appointment in person and confirmed our appointment via text. On the day of the schedule appointment, my husband was turned away because he was not on the authorized list of people who can drop off our pet. He said that he has the same address, he was there at the time the appointment was made, and he is basically dropping off our pet which I had confirmed. The front desk said that this was a California LAW that they cannot accept pets for treatment if it was not on the list. They had him call me (which I was unable to pick up immediately) and he expressed that I may not pick up because I may be with a client. Eventually I called and had him added on the list. What was irritating was we weren't informed or given the option to added in case I was not the one dropping her off. Customer service SUCKS at this location! Also, it is NOT a California LAW, it is a Banfield POLICY. Please set your staff straight. After this appointment we will NOT be going to this location. I spoke to another Banfield location and they were more accommodating to answer my questions and explain to me the POLICY and exceptions may be granted and were more knowledgeable. TIP: Make sure you add all your people because your pet might be reject/denied for treatment or service. Because they don't tell you ahead of time! read more

I took my dog in on Monday 2/1/2021 I had a very bad experience they had my dog from 11:15 to 5:15 I called multiple times no news & I was next in line to be seen so they said (B/S ) they said physically she looks fine. she got 2 shots & some fluids they did a whole lot of nothing for 6 hours & charged me 235.00 crooks . well I got a second opinion she was so sick she had diabetes & all kinds of issues I had to put my best friend down today I hate you Banfield. My cat had a broken leg and they didn't want to help me at all. They did a FULL BODY x-ray and they told me they don't know what's wrong and they need to get a specialist. And they focused on my cat's weight. I told them to take a leg x-ray and not a full body one. I literally had to take her to another doctor and the other doctor was so disappointed with the x-ray and how they treated my cat and he told me he will give me better treatment for my cat and he found a correct diagnosis. This located they took money from me and then told me "i don't know we need to get the specialist which will cost more money. So he can make a better diagnosis" horrible horrible experience I was worried about my cat and they were worried about money. Get you a veterinarian who actually loves animals. Cus the nurses and doctors here are horrible. read more

UPDATE FROM 2/10/22 A follow up, prompted by my original low review (2/10/22), resulted in finally getting my PCR lab results,12 days later! A half dozen specific test all came back negative with the exception of herpes virus, "commonly triggered by stress and brought on by an illness" - an illness never identified by the tests they ran, which were chosen based on "what's going around". And when asked why a COVID19 test wasn't done (yes, cats CAN and do get COVID from humans), I was told the lab they used didn't do it. Odd, given 1 in 5 Californians have caught COVID, and more than a few of their cats likely caught it as well. My cat is indoor/outdoor and could've easily been exposed by a neighbor cat. I asked if cats can transfer SARS-CoV-2 back to other humans, Chrissy didn't know. My concern is justified. Our cat sleeps with us. You'd think with the prevalence of COVID, testing for it would be a priority for my pet and for ME and my family. Banfield's half baked follow-up reinforces my original suspicions. The motivation for their pet drop off (zero vet interaction) policy, has little to do with Covid concerns, and is just more convenient for them. read more
