I rarely review places, but this place deserves 100 stars. We've been doing our youngest frenchie's, Sesame, had his IVDD surgery back in Feb. Been/called to a few different places, but 1) not many places offer hydro therapy 2) even if they do, its only limited to dogs who still have bowel controls. After having an initial consultation with Dr. Suh and staffs, we've been set up with a realistic goal with effective treatments including hydrotherapy, laser therapy and electro acupuncture. The staffs put 100% effort in Sesame's rehab journey and Sesame loves to come visit the rehab. read more

My dog is 13 now, but amazingly spry and fairly healthy, but I wanted to get a 2nd opinion on her health as we currently have Banfield insurance and I just feel like she's being fast fooded through her exams and treatments. I found this very clean nice hospital on yelp and scheduled a wellness physical. **** - for the check in process, took a little longer than I expected but not brutal. ***** - for the staff, all smiles, super nice and spoke professionally. Even courtesy laughed at my dad jokes. ***** - Dr Suh seemed kind to me and definitely genuinely cared about my dog's health. She asked a bunch of age relevant questions AND I actually was in the exam with Holly and got to go through the whole thing with her. It was a nice personal touch to be there and having everything explained to me as she was doing it. Our pets are our children, and this felt like a small town personal doctor taking care of my child. It was a nice break from the big corporate chain treatment. ***** - my dog has a heart murmur which we've known about for several years, but this is the first Doc to order a proBNP (A protein presence test that demonstrates possible severity or strain the heart is under). This was new and just showed how well she knows her job and actually cares. Overall, I will be back to receive care here as beyond feeling welcomed, I found a competent Doc who isn't just about ordering every test under the sun to rack up the $$$$. I should probably write a negative review so that she doesn't get so busy I'll have a hard time seeing her, but it was a good experience with qualified professionals. I'm going to be standing by my review. Service has just not been the same the last 2 years. I will add Dr Suh is right they did see my dog for her shot, but that was only after I called 4x and the 4th time I finally spoke to someone with empathy and who actually took time to listen vs pass me off and say not their problem. Why I'm moving on. Today I submitted an order for bravecto using Dr. Suh's vetsource site. Upon calling to find out why my order was denied, I was told her annual check up hasn't happened yet, so they denied. Mind you my pups annual is next month and I was just there for a booster shot. Why not call the customer to explain the situation and try to get an appointment sooner vs put denied and call the office. Talk about being a difficult office. Healthy Paws was the first vet we took our goldendoodle puppy for vaccinations in April of 2020. Due to the good reviews seen on Yelp and it being a local clinic, we decided to come here to Dr. Suh. Our first experience was fairly good, as he just had an initial exam and first round of shots. The staff was very friendly and Dr. Suh told us her exam findings over the phone as we were unable to enter due to COVID precautions. At that time, I actually wrote here on yelp a 5/5 star review. After finishing the entire 3-4 course vaccinations, we, unfortunately, had to go back to see Dr. Suh a couple months later because our puppy had an ear infection. Dr. Suh examined my dog and told us that he had a severe ear infection including a "ruptured eardrum." She recommended ear cytology, level II ear cleaning, and MBDex otic solution. All of this, including office exam and consultation charges (additional $52 for the exam), came out to $190 -- for an ear infection. His ear infection was not improving after all of this, and we went back to see her. He had his ears cleaned and was prescribed a saline solution as well as medication which came out to an additional $100. After all of this, his ears remained infected. We applied the medications and cleaned his ear as instructed, but no change. We went for a second opinion to our current vet, who reviewed everything she had ordered and re-examined our dog's ear. He said it was very unlikely that the ear drum had ruptured and said that the ear cytology was unnecessary. It seemed like she had ordered a lot of thing that could've been avoided; he said that he personally would not have done what she did. We were immediately started on a new course of ABX and his ear infection completely resolved over the next 2 weeks. As much as Healthy Paws will take care of your pet and provide good customer service, I would not recommend coming here unless you are okay with being charged for more than what's necessary. After reading all the positive reviews here, I thought I would have a good experience but it is quite disappointing to see that they just want to overcharge us and run unnecessary testing. read more

MOST OVER-PRICED VET IN OC! If possible, I would give this place ZERO stars. If you like getting screwed our of HUNDREDS of dollars, then this is the place to take your pet. Since we don't like getting taken for hard-earned money, we will NEVER go here again. This place is WAY overpriced and they literally found a way to make a simple spay cost $900! And we have pet insurance! They give no estimate, they performed services we did NOT okay, and when we compared costs with all other local vets, we found out that this place had truly screwed us over. Insurance does not allocate more than around $250 for a spay, so in going with these people, they up-charged us for $700 of unnecessary charges. We also received no follow-up care for our over-priced procedure and they had a lot of difficulty even doing basic things like drawing blood or giving shots. We spent money on our dogs and expect to pay money for their care, but this place takes advantage of that and make no effort to keep consumer costs low or work within insurance guidelines. I am disgusted that during a time where money is tight that we would be charged such exorbitant rates with NO ESTIMATE. We'll be contacting the Better Business Bureau and the CA Veterinary Board to file complaints, as we do not want others to be faced with the shock at a huge bill for a basic procedure that should be FULLY covered by all pet insurance. read more

$400 and up and $65 assessment just to NEUTER a kitten. This place will not give you the rates they charge for services until you pay them for an assessment. I had to ask to speak with someone who was at liberty to share the service rate. (The manager was unable to speak with me but did relay the range to the woman with whom I spoke) So they expect you to pay the assessment and THEN they disclose their rates. Clearly a sales strategy that feels unbefitting veterinary care. Personally all I wanted was to neuter a kitten. When I asked why I could not atleast get a range she said many other things could be wrong with my kitten that would require additional services. I asked for examples and she said he could need teeth pulled of have hernias etc...When the office manager "allowed" her to give me the $400 and up rate for the neuter I laughed. She then said I should find a place that better fits my "financial needs". So- ladies and gentlemen that is the sort of customer service you can expect here...To this establishment- had you gone about this differently you likely would have had my business as I live right next to your office. read more

I never imagined I'd be writing a review for a veterinary clinic. I called to schedule an emergency appointment and wanted to come in as soon as possible. They didn't have the availability I was looking for but called me back shortly after and pushed my appointment up sooner! +10 points for healthy paws! As far as treatment goes, my dog had a pretty bad ear infection and they explained what was going on so we knew what we were dealing with. They treated my dog with no at home aftercare needed (which was awesome!) and scheduled me a follow up appointment! I did have to come back sooner than scheduled bc my dog seemed to be in discomfort again and they were able to squeeze in my foster dog at the same time for a 6:30pm appointment as well! (You guys are amazing!) The doc recommended a product to clean her ears and demonstrated exactly how to apply it. I was apparently cleaning my dogs ears wrong I'm glad I was taught how to do it though. The entire healthy paws staff is extremely friendly and you can feel the love they have for animals. I've only ever been to vet clinics that try to sell you so many extras, so it feels good to have a vet that shows they do it for the animals and not just for profit. Healthy paws also has VERY reasonable pricing as well, but given the care my dogs have received in these two visits, I'd pay extra or go out of my way to come here if I needed to. I never thought I'd love a veterinary clinic so much and words cannot describe how happy I am to know my fur babies are in great hands with Healthy Paws! Thank you so much! I am an avid dog lover and dog Breeder. I have my own personal vet but had to bring a friends dog to healthy paws due to an emergency. I have seen many many veterinarians but this one by far is the cleanest and they have state of the art equipment. Due to the emergency, the staff quickly got me in and I was seen by Dr. Suh. She promptly diagnosed the problem and started a breathing treatment with oxygen. I have read the other reviews and we have to remember our dogs can't communicate verbally to us. They can't tell us if they have sharp pains, how long they have been in pain or if they are dizzy. That is why all the exams, xrays, and blood work is so vital. Veterinarians have to almost work backwards and cancel things off the list rather than doing work ups. We don't know what they are allergic to, what's hurting, or if they have a fever. I want to make a note about my experience with Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic in Brea. I recommend that you never use this place! When I took my dog there for basic stuff like having his nails clipped are having his shots, they're OK for that. But I took him in there one day because his tummy was feeling bloated and he had stopped eating. They charged me $550 or thereabouts and did bloodwork and gave him back to me (I could not go in with him) and said that they thought that maybe it was his arthritis and inflammation. So I called back a day or so later because the pain medication they gave me was doing nothing for him,and I pressed the secretary to tell me whether they actually had a diagnosis or not. She kept skirting the question and asking me if I wanted to bring Toby, my beautiful bloodhound-shepherd mix, adorable family member, back into them for a recheck with Dr. Janet Suh. I told her no, that what I wanted was a diagnosis and she finally admitted that there was no diagnosis. At that point, I told her that I would handle this my own way, and I hung up the phone. Later the doctor called me and asked me if there were hard feelings and I told her no, but I wanted to get a diagnosis that if they were not able to give it to me, I was going to get it some other way. I took Toby to the Veterinary Internal Medicine in Tustin and, yes we spent a whole lot of money on him, but they provided an accurate diagnosis which was lymphoma which was not only in his lymph glands but in his liver, kidneys, and spleen. That's why his tummy was becoming distended. They gave me eight medications and told me I could get the rest of them filled from my regular vet, Healthy Paws. So I came home with the medications and started giving them to Toby, and although he wasn't feeling better, he perked up enough to be able to eat. When I went to refill the medications, I went back to Healthy Paws and the secretary or front desk person told me that they only had two of the medications at their office, the prednisone and the metronidazole. They said I would have to go to Costco for the rest. Later, the doctor told me that they could give all of Toby's medications to me except for one. So there was a contradiction, showing me that the front office staff has no idea what they're doing. Then Veterinary Internal Medicine called me for a check-up and told me to go get blood work on Toby from my regular vet. So I called Healthy Paws and said I want to make an appointment to come in for bloodwork. I took Toby in for blood work and, of course, I had to wait in my car. The doctor wanted to do x-rays and CAT scans and a bunch of different things and charge me more than $500 and I said no I'll just do the blood work thank you. So my son and I waited in the car and they called me and said he's ready and brought Toby out to us. I drove all the way home and was parking when the doctor called me and told me somehow they forgot to even do the blood work! And they asked if I wanted to bring him back for that!! Nothing was done, and Dr. Suh apologized and said she would reimburse us the full cost of the visit. Finally, my son and I decided after several weeks that we had to euthanize my dog, so we went through Home Pet Euthanasia of Southern California, located in Tustin. They were amazing! They came to the house and euthanized him so lovingly! It was painful for us obviously, but I know he went to Heaven the gentlest way possible. I immediately emailed Internal Veterinary Medicine place in Tustin and told them that Toby had passed and I emailed Healthy Paws and told them that Toby had passed. Within the same day, the Internal Veterinary Medicine place in Tustin emailed me back with condolences and then subsequently sent us a card signed by their entire staff saying they were so sorry to hear Toby had passed, and they also planted a tree in Klamath Forest in Toby's name! My son and I were in tears because of their kindness. Pet Home Euthanasia of Tustin also sent me a condolence card and they sent me a little packet of Toby's fur before they aquamated him. It has been two weeks and I have never heard one single word from Healthy Paws Clinic! They have not called, they have not emailed, they have not sent a card with any word of condolence whatsoever. Either they are completely heartless or they are so disorganized they never check their email! I am completely done with Healthy Paws Clinic. I will never ever in my lifetime take another dog to them and I suggest you don't either. They're fine for basic stuff enough to run a business, but when it comes to serious things, they can't handle it and they're massively disorganized! read more

I've got myself a collective of now 7 fur babies and started off coming in to check out what the five stars was all about. I've done my fair share of vet hopping- from hospitals that give you that feeling they're looking thru your pet into your pockets, to vets that just didn't seem to give a damn. I guess with dogs that have passed away with several illnesses, I wanted a lifelong vet that actually cares and didn't put me in bankruptcy in the meantime. I can't tell you how relieved I am to have found Dr Suh. She sits and spends time with you and goes over all the options, the goods, the bads and the sometimes uglies. This has been my cat's doctor since I moved over here to Fullerton in August. I have only known them since covid-19 protocols were in effect, but honestly they are quite convenient and comfortable to get to languish in my car while my kitty and the staff are safe inside. Dr. Suh is wonderful! On multiple occasions she has stayed on the phone with me for as long as was necessary to answer my questions about what is going on with my cat, and how to handle it. She has a good perspective and ideas that accommodate different lifestyles and budgets, and understanding of finicky cats. Without Dr. Suh, I would have had no idea about the huge bladder stone my cat had. I took her in because she was making sad sounds in the litter box a few times and she was constipated. There was all these tests we could have done and they were pricey! So, I have to consider this, and while I'm waiting I get another call from the doctor and she says she has an idea based on the report I gave about the sad meows, so instead of the constipation tests she gets an x ray, and lo and behold she has an enormous bladder stone!! I would have had no idea, she had not been displaying symptoms other than the occasional sad meow every few days. At first I was distraught because I was given a potential pricing that was craaaazy for the surgery, and we needed to do it sooner rather than later. But when I chose to do it at the doctor's office here rather than outpatient, it was far below the potential amount I was quoted. What a relief. Her surgery went excellent, and the staff took care of her and saw to it her recovery was smooth. Despite some hiccups where my cat was literally incapable of keeping on a cone of shame or E-collar, they took her back to get some staples and saw her again after that free of charge. I can tell that this vet and her staff are capable, cognizant, and caring about the animals and the humans they work with. I am happy to continue to take my sweet baby kitty here so that she will have a long, healthy life even with her premature bladder issues. It also seemed to fix the scooting problem she had, which may have been irritation from a UTI. Thanks to this office I am moving on to a new diet for my kitty that should help keep her from forming another stone. I recommend this office to fellow cat owners in the area! read more

What a shame! I have been going to the vet for about 8 months now. I will self admittedly say that I can be overly sensitive about my two golden retrievers. But from the start I haven't been too impressed. But tried to be optimistic. One of our goldens is about 7 years old, started having seizures in December. We were told keep an eye if it happens again bring him in, February he has another seizure, they were kind enough to fit us in that same day, but when showing up they didn't seem to think anything was wrong, it was very apparent his body was trembling and he was making loud grunting noises. They did suggest an ear wash and about $700 dollars later and overlooking his x-rays they found nothing to be wrong. I was already quite upset that when the vet did call us she really had no clue about his symptoms, almost as if anything I told them went right out the window. I let it go, being sensitive to what was a traumatic experience and understood more tests had to be ran. Nothing really ever came of it, nothing found, their suggestion; maybe find a neurologist and there was no guarantee that would find anything. Two months later and I start to notice some odd behaviors, limping, dripping running nose, he gets randomly lethargic. They fit us in, but still charged us a fee not to see the vet in person, but just drop him off. Ok fine, at this point something is wrong so I'll did whatever I needed to do to get him in with Dr. Suh. She recommended another scan, $600 later because she hears a clicking in his paw. Ends up being nothing, fantastic. Mind you on the call from Dr, Suh about those results, mid conversation, she puts me on hold for about 10 minutes. I call back and she apologizes, she wasnt looking at the correct chart. They suggested another $100 later giving him anti inflammatory meds and muscle relaxers. This is after I called days later to ask what's the plan here? Get him on meds to see if that helps, they suggested a follow up, but never called or directed on me if I should schedule that? A few months later another seizure, called them days ago, provide a video as they informed. His back legs have seemingly been acting funny since and after expressing all this concern. Received a call back today about the recent seizure video I sent. Clearly no genuine care. The gal who calls suggests to come in for another visit to run bloodwork. We have done this several times to no prevail. She then states that it's essentially up to me as the pet owner to decide what I want to do. How do I know what to do when we have nothing in place? No suggestions, organized plan or even any idea half of the time what we're doing with running tests. They sure have not had any problems recommending meds, ear flushes, food oils and scans. I let a lot of things go because I really didn't want to be that person that was being overly paranoid. As pet owners I know when tragic things are happening to our beloved pets, it's easy to overthink and I can honestly say, I fully understand that not every dog can be diagnosed and every pet case is different. But I have fairly good judgment and it's apparent she genuinely doesn't care or want to really try and figure out what is going on with our dog. Sure did make thousands what feels like preying off my vulnerability. Their knowledge, lack thereof, not impressive, disorganization got very concerning, and the attention to detail/really listening or taking the actual time, 1 star. I have asked about how to manage the seizures? I have spent about $3000 for what seems like a complete waste of time for her lack of actual knowledge. I feel like at this point we should have some proactive plan other than a neurologist. My final straw was todays conversation, when they told me as a pet owner it's essentially up to me to figure out next steps? Isn't that I have paid you all for? To have some idea of what path to choose? No direction on what steps to take next, nothing, no recommendation other than maybe to see a neurologist, but they may not be able to tell you anything $7000 dollars later. It's almost like they have no clue what their doing. INFURIATING. Also food for thought to staff, don't be rude when a paying customer asks questions about their dogs health or expresses concern on what are we doing here. That's your job and really what all of us are paying for. They may be nice and sweet at the front, but that doesn't actually help my dog. If you are looking for a vet that is really going to dive in, take the actual time to give you and your pet or have any sense of knowledge, walk away! Do yourself a major favor and pay the money elsewhere. Maybe this is a great vet for minor little check ups, but for actual issues I would not bring my pet here. So glad we wasted several months running in a circle. I'm sure they will reply with some sort of defensive stance, "We did nothing wrong". I'm just writing this review to forewarn others. read more

We love this place!! The staff is so sweet and friendly. I still haven't been able to actually go in, because of Covid-19, but I rescued 2 kittens, Covax and Q, during quarantine. Since we have been going they have a curb-side policy. These girls really have to work!! My kittens have been there 3 times for their shots and they will continue going there. read more

I came here with high hopes due to reviews that made it seem like she was actually a vet that was solution oriented without expensive and/or unnecessary costs or exams. Completely not my experience and I regret wasting time and money here with both my dog and my sister's dog. Initially, I was pleased with Dr Suh's analysis of bloodwork we brought from a primary vet we see. We ended up getting a brace for one of our dogs although we had reservations about her fitting procedure (using anesthesia). Only because she convinced us it would be the best to get as good a fit as possible. Not only this, a separate fitting fee was supposed to cover adjustments as needed if the brace didn't fit but when we reached out and tried to get help she basically hurt our dog even more struggling to shove the brace on her tiny leg. Then adding insult, she tells us to call them directly for the solution she proposed. The fitting and consult fees should have taken care of our dog until the brace fit the way it should have and telling us to go deal with, essentially, was the last straw. Anyways, we did. We called Go Hero directly and basically learned that she has no clue on the mechanics of the brace. Everything she told us to do was incorrect and we'll go forward working with Go Hero directly obviously. But she basically got paid a consult + fitting fee from us just to put our dog under to mold her leg and send it in. Ridiculous. In addition our dogs contracted kennel cough here, which we know is out of their control, but they refused to admister simple cough suppressants (which all other vets have always done) until they could be brought in for another PAID exam only 2 days after their initial visit! We just got the suppressants from another one of our regular vets. But again, ridiculous. read more

Went for an annual checkup for my dog and was happy to see that employees are masked. They let me stay in my car while the staff came to get my dog. They also let me pay from my car as well with a device and that made me feel really safe! I then received a phone call from the vet going over my dog's health, and answered numerous questions I had about my dog's weight goals. I've always received great service in the last 2+ years from Dr Suh and her staff always go the extra mile for my fur baby. That's why I drive all the way from Los Angeles for all my vet needs! The staff is really nice, but Dr. Suh, not so much. She can be very pushy and if she makes a mistake on a treatment plan for your dog, beware because you'll have to pay for it. Her and her staff have been mentioning a go fund me she's doing and asking for money which to me is highly unprofessional. I can hardly pay for your prices, and for your mistakes let alone somebody else's dog. This facility is not worth the high reviews, maybe 3 star average at best. May be beneficial to take your dog to a different vet. read more

I really really wanted to like this place. It's literally 5 mins away. But my 1st and 2nd impression says move on. Took my cat for a check up, didn't hear back from the dr. until the following week. I requested a summary of this first time check up and was told 'of course.' Didn't receive it. I also requested an estimate of a dental cleaning for my cat. Again did not hear a thing. Everyone on the phone sounded helpful. Even Dr. Suh when she eventually called me back 3 days later was quite professional. Too bad I never got that initial check up summary nor the dental cleaning estimate. Paying up front, then not getting info of the check up is rather distressing. It's not like our pets can tell us what happened. read more
