Took my our little pupper Barkley to get his first check up and set of shots. The staff was super friendly, polite, and responsive. I was every impressed with the way the two of us were treated, and I left there feeling like Barkley received the best care around. What I really found to be a exceptional was when a Banfield staff member called me the following day to check up on him to see how he was feeling after his shots. Terrible record keeping. They lost my dogs' treatment records several times. They put my dog's weight as Normal, but in reality- she lost 3 pounds in a year! The lab results that they did (for over $1,000) were "normal", but when I re-done it in another lab - my dog was diagnosed with severe pancreatitis and kidney failure!!! Banfield on Sunland Park Dr. El Paso simply falsified the results! They have done the dental cleaning on my other dog ( over $500) - there is no record of it! read more

I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Marquez and staff. My baby Parker has IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease- chronic, incurable, similar to Chrons, colitis), this is chronic. He has helped us so much. Dr. Marquez is very patient, knowledgeable, confident. He started with all the right steps, diet, fiber, gastric panel bloodwork, antibiotics, dewormers, nausea meds and we finally went to steroids. My boy has been stable and enjoying quality of life and we owe it all to him. He is up to par with specialists treatment all over the world. I am a very overprotective mom who keeps an excel spreadsheet to keep track of his meds/symptoms/ flares/improvements, Dr. Marquez patiently reviews it and prescribes very accurately. His calm energy is so comforting. We have never been dismissed, in spite of a lot of visits. I must admit, I am a very over the top mom, I have cried in frustration and sadness and he has comforting words. Although serious and professional, he has a sense of humor that puts us at ease. I was extremely impressed with how Banfield cares for their patients. From the front desk experience, to the nurses all were very professional, friendly, and informative. Both my German Shepard and Mini Pincher are a rescue so they are very skiddish but they handled them with ease! Then when the doctor came out to talk about our fur babies, I was surprised for the full care experience since they were only there to get shots and nail trimmings. The staff gave us tips on routine care, including information about heart worm disease and routine maintenance, along with their affordable plans. I am grateful for this team and will most definitely be back for all my dogs needs. Every staff member seemed to truly be invested in my fur family. They even gave us a call the next day for a follow up to check and see how they are feeling! The Sunland Park location has progressively worsened. My labradoodle had immune mediated thrombocytopenia post vaccination at Banfield Sunland after receiving Lymes vaccine 2 years ago. WE can hardly get in there due to lack of appointmentsToday he was lethargic and I called saying he needed a CBC and the doctors could not be bothered for a life threatening illness. I spoke with Carlos, the receptionist , who cannot get a manager. This place is just completely horrible. I'm still giving 5 stars because of the team that took care of Newman last Tuesday and dr Marquez because they were wonderful as I have already said but today is Friday and Newman was having issues after surgery that I was concerned about I called and the receptionist spoke to dr Goodman and she said some poop coming out is a good thing but if I'm concerned take him to far east animal clinic which the whole point behind the wellness plan that I pay for is number one to make sure every 6 months they get comprehensive exam to catch illness and number 2 to see the dog when they are sick it was not emergency symptoms I told receptionist I was worried he may be constipated I took him off the med she said the vet said if he needs X-rays it's going to take a couple hours to get them back or their ultrasound machine was old and some other stuff that is completely unacceptable to me if she would not treat her own dog that way she should not be doing it to other ppls dogs who trust her to care for their dog or cat Newman has been a wellness plan patient for 11 years I ended up taking him to another vet who checked him out did x rays and said he was constipated and had some gas in there and his intestines were inflamed so they sent him home on medication to treat all of it the worst part of all of it is there was a drop off appointment available this morning even worse than that there are a lot of ppl that would of took her words of something coming out is a good thing as ok the vet says something coming out is a good thing. Thank god I did not I don't understand why she wouldn't see him if she doesn't like him or didn't want to deal with him I just don't know but I'm not happy that it happened I spoke to site manager she is very nice and very understanding as to how I felt the last thing dr Marquez told me was I'm not going to be here for 5 days if you have any issues call us well I did and she pretty much refused to see him sadly I'm not mad about it I'm disappointed because he just had surgery on Tuesday and black tarry stool was a real concern that she could of examined him and chose not to so when you say Banfield cares that definitely does not express Banfield cares to me anyways so I absorbed the cost of another vet where he has never been to had to examine him and part of the wellness plans is not paying for office visits it's truly disappointing that a vet would do that and I am certain if dr Marquez was there this would not have happened because like I stated in my earlier review he does gods work and I truly believe that in the end hopefully my dog is ok but my dogs will not be seen by her again sadly I've already contacted site manager and Banfield cares as wiell read more

Let me start off by saying I love Dr. Rojas! She is an amazing veterinarian. She does not tip toe around my dog. He has a lot of anxiety the come off as aggression at times. My dog got a medical shave done while under anesthesia because he is deathly afraid of the groomers. This is my first medical grooming since coming to El Paso (originally from San Diego) Apparently they decided to switch up blades during the procedure for some reason, so he is bald on parts of his back while other parts of his body are longer. Disclaimer: parts of his body ( his chin, his paws and his private area had mats on him due to his constant licking of himself and food getting caught in his chin). Then I noticed he was shaking as if he was in intense pain that he couldn't control. I checked his body and I noticed on his neck and on his chest he has burns and rashes from them cutting him too close. Yet another disclaimer: i know they are not groomers, but I have never seen anything like this before. Now he is in a horrible amount of pain and I basically paid them to cause him all this pain. I love his veterinarian, but I am not sure about the tech. I have to watch him shaking in pain and he is running away from me while I try to put ointment on him. This is just breaking my heart. I just wonder why they changed the blade to get so close to his skin knowing how sensitive his skin is. Even with his matting it was not not to the point where the blade that was used for the longer parts of his body could not be used throughout. Scissors are also an option. The parts that he has the most damage on his body were parts that had little to no matting. read more

I was so disappointed with this banfield. Two nights before Thanksgiving my dog started vomiting several times. I was worried and was at the hospital first thing at 7am. I was told that they could not see her because she did not have an appointment. I explained my dog has been on the wellness plan for many years and if they could hold her and examine her when they get a moment to do so but they said no. They told me to take her to another hospital down the street even though I explained I had to get to work. I am so disappointed because I have been a loyal customer for years but I did not have their support. They were too concerned with leaving work early that day to care about the animals. I couldn't believe the hospital turned away my sick pet. It felt terrible walking away with my sick pet in my arms. I am cancelling my wellness plan.I do not recommend the wellness plan to anybody. It is useless because it is humanly impossible to plan and schedule an emergency. On the other hand, East El Paso Animal Hospital (not the hospital they recommended) saw her as a walk in within minutes, treated her well, and she is back to her old self. Lastly, I already spoke with Banfield Customer Service and am not interested in speaking to anyone else. Overall, I have been really happy with Banfield for my Vet needs. I like how they are located inside Petsmart, especially right near the groomers. That makes it easy to knock out multiple trips in one go. The biggest thing I like about Banfield is the care plans they offer. I pay around $60 something a month for my dogs, totaling about $750ish a year. That is it. Exams are covered, shots are covered, dental is covered, AND I get a discount on any additional medications or prescriptions that my pups might need. My last visit was a few days ago, and had I not been on one of the care plans, my bill would have been about $1500 between both of my dogs. .. So I have got my moneys worth and then some. Banfield gives you a detailed print out of what your bill would had you walked in off the street without a care plan. The staff is really friendly. I haven't had an issue with customer service here. The techs are friendly, and the Vets are nice and knowledgable. Any issue that might arise, the staff is always diligent to ensure that I know exactly what happened or what is going on. Lastly, I like that there are a bunch of Banfield location around the US. We are planning to move soon, and I don't have to deal with the stress of trying to find a new Vet for my dogs when we make that transition. This is great, ESPECIALLY for yall military types (like myself), who move often. read more

After taking our newly adopted dog to Banfield for an initial checkup, we were sent home with a test kit to collect a fecal sample to return to the office for testing. We never returned the sample and opted out of having the test performed. We then received a call that the test came back normal, and we owed them $50. Despite telling them that we never dropped off the sample, and them stating that the charge was removed, we were sent to collections for the amount of the test. Not only were we lied to, they are trying to scam us out of money that we do not owe. Very deceptive business practices. I will never trust them with my animals again. Terrible weekend service. I brought my cat in after noticing she had not had anything to eat in 4 days. I dropped her off at 10am and one hour before closing (4pm) still had no update on her status - I was told the vet had been busy all day. The vet had not yet examined her and had not run any tests! After speaking to vet and expressing my disappointment to the lack of care I was told to leave and go someplace else if I didn't like what was being done. This is truly disappointing to see my pet's health ignored like this when they had all day to run proper tests in a timely fashion. They rushed a blood test and told me it was an infection and that they were unable to do more. Not only did my cat endure a long day at the vet but I was left with very few answers. I hope this office takes the time to read this and correct the lack of service/attention my pet received. read more

I was very disappointed with the people who "worked" on my dog. He came there for a medical shave down. He's been dealing with a lot of knots in certain parts of his body due to him constantly licking himself. When he came back his paws were the only things that weren't all the way shaved down. You could tell from a mile away that they used two different shavers when shaving his body down. His hair on his back is two different textures do to them using two different shavers. For that is unknown but he was under a light anesthesia because he's afraid of groomers. Within hours he started acting weird..he started violently shaking his body and was extremely uncomfortable due to the workers literally burning his skin. He has red blotchy spots around his neck from them burning him with the razor. It's unfortunate that my parents spent their hard money for basically him to get hurt. It was extremely unprofessional and there was no excuses for them to burn him and switch blades. Know what y'all are getting into when working with dogs like this. They didn't even seem to bother to double check if everything was looking right and they should've at least given my parents a refund or gave them some type of ointment to deal with the pain he's currently in. He already deals with a lot of issues and adding this didn't help. This was borderline abuse in a way and y'all need to check yourselves. read more

I am a first time pet owner and had a vet appointment for my dog. I was running late due to traffic and called ahead to let them know. They told me that if I was going to be more than 10 minutes late the dr would not see me. I assumed that it was from the time I called so I told them that I would be there in 10 min. I continued to drive there and got to parking lot at exactly 10 min. I proceeded to enter and when I made it to the register the cashier told me that I was fifteen minutes late and she would have to ask the dr if I could be seen. She proceeded to the back area and the dr could be seen in the background eating somthing from a bowl. He looked up and smirked as he looked at me. I'm sure my face Wasn't very happy looking cause I really tried to make it there from the time when I called. Needless to say, I am very upset about all of this because they claim that they want to be a partner with the customers in raising their pets. They must not need the business because medical doctors let patients get to appointments up to 15 mins late. Please do not give pet owners false statements. The receptionists should give specific times. She should have said it was the time from my appointment and not the time from when I called. read more

I give them a 3 for trimming all my dogs nails. My previous experience at other locations has been much better. My initial call was for my Siberians nails to be trimmed. She's 11 with cancer and two knee surgeries. I always let them know she is strong and my concerns are she will fall. It takes two to hold her and someone to trim the nails. Never did the polite gentleman day their was an additional charge. He told me it was $15. When I arrive the woman at the counter looked busy and very serious. I let her know the same thing I stated on the phone. She was short with me and told me it was $15 extra. I told her she I called I was ever told that. We always tip well when her nails are done due to her issue. This is my first time having her nails done at this clinic. We did not mind paying it but we did mind how it was handled and her approach. read more
