what a con! i have been trying to cancel my plan for a couple of months at least and I finally reach someone who could explain at least part of the process. I still have to call again in two months, after they draft what they say I owe them. also, they insist that I owe them for scheduled vaccinations which my dog never received and I was unaware of. And there's no working email to request a cancellation. They led me to believe that they had a surgeon and I would be making payments on that, but they just charge me for a more expensive plan and let me know that they have no surgeon, so I had to go elsewhere. My four legged family members have been using Banfield for years with outstanding staff members from those on the front desk, the technicians, and the doctors. Me and my family were wrestling with and trying to keep one of our four legged family members going for some time. With the care provided from Banfield, I believe we gained a few extra years. Unfortunately, as much as we did not want to, we as a family had reached the realization that our older member did not have a real quality of life left. She deteriorated quickly at the end! From day to day you could see her getting worse and worse to the point we made the decision to have her euthanized as we could see and feel her pain and suffering. The Banfield we normally go to was full and could not fit us in for a few days, as we had waited till the last moment to call for an actual appointment. We were worried about her pain and suffering as it seemed over a five day span she deteriorated so rapidly. We called Banfield across town and they were able to assist us later that afternoon. We will forever be grateful for all the support of the entire staff as this was a very difficult decision and time for my entire family. I've called twice after 8am, it is 8:36am at the time of this writing, to make an appointment because online scheduling for the Optimum Wellness plan says "please check back for openings or call your location directly" ??? Well that is what I'm trying to do, and their business hours say 8am-6pm, you're telling me it's almost 40 minutes past 8am and they're not open? Update -- also just realized trying to book a general appointment via other means online means that this location doesn't have any available appointments until after October 30th? My dog could probably die from here until then when things can be checked sooner than later, especially when it comes to loose stools/diarrhea. I can't just wait that out until October 30th. The OWP sounded like a great idea until I realized using Banfield Pet Hospital as an option in this town is too good to be true/terrible. Which is ironic, considering they are spread all across the country. Kind of frustrated I can't give this place a shot even if I wanted to. I guess I'll stick to taking my pet to a local vet if I want to get him an appointment today or tomorrow. Update 12:00pm Mountain time - tried to call again two different numbers to this office and the automated message still comes through saying their office is "currently closed". I'm concerned their business hours aren't up to date which I find irresponsible on their behalf. I enrolled for the plan online and put my card on file for it. How is it possible that I enroll for a service only to be unable to utilize such service? I'm glad they don't charge me until after the first appointment, but by the looks of it, the OWP wouldn't even take effect at all because appointments at this facility are so far out/past 30 days. I have been bringing my pets to Banfield for a very long time. When I lived in NY, I used Banfield and was thrilled to find one here in El Paso. The quality of care by the Drs is outstanding. The hours are very convenient, with appointments on weekends and late evenings; they also have a drop off service where you can leave your pet and they will call you when they are ready for pick up. I did have a wonderful dog, Maximillion, that I had to have put to sleep- at 16 years old, he was in renal failure and was having seizures. Dr Caraballo guided me through the process of the last six months, with blood work for Maxi and special food. He knew how to gage where Maxi was in his twilight time so I was better prepared. They were there for me every step of the way during this difficult time- and they were glad when I adopted an new little dog from the Have a Heart group that is sometimes set up inside PetSmart during adoption campaigns. They are making sure that Luciano has many healthy years with me. read more

The Banfield Wellness plans are a rip off -Beware! They will not allow you to cancel and make sure you turn off the auto renewal in the app! My son paid over $400 for 1 year and was told that that he couldn't cancel his subscription because his charges if he didn't have the insurance would've been more??? Really??? The prices here are crazy. I went to another pet hospital (McRae) and Im paying less for 2 animals than I was for 1 all for the same things. The doctors and nurses here were admittedly great but not worth the price when Im paying over double/near triple for the same treatments when Im getting just as good nurses and vets. read more

I took my cat when she had a respiratory infection, and I loved the staff and vets. So when we got a puppy we wanted to take him to this clinic. However, this was during the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, we knew that we were going to experience some minor delays, but we were not expecting what happened. They called and rescheduled our 12 weeks vaccine appointment 3 times in 3 weeks. I originally scheduled it for when he turned 11 weeks to be preventative. The 3rd time I rescheduled but our puppy ended up getting sick with a virus that he should have been vaccinated for 3 weeks before. We ended up taking him to Zarges Animal Clinic and once I called that same day they got him worked in. I will not be returning to Banfield ever again, he needed his vaccines and it wouldn't have taken very long, but we always got rescheduled. read more

We adopted a 10 month old, spayed dog from the Humane Society and the second we got her home we started noticing her sneezing, coughing, and having trouble breathing. It was more than enough for us to be concerned she may be sick so we decided to take her to Banfield the morning after since they had already closed that evening. Upon arrival we were told that the facility was booked that day but that they would do their best to have our dog Sapphire looked at and taken care of. They took her as a walk-in even though there were a ton of pets already scheduled that day. Once she was looked at, the clinic contacted me and told me that they had a treatment plan prepared for her seeing as though she had 'kennel cough' but also that they were concerned with how she had been fixed after being spayed. They offered her a treatment plan that included medications for her illness as well as to fix her stitching that had been done improperly for a total of $120. I thought the pricing was exceptional and agreed to the treatment plan and within an hour was called for Sapphire to be picked up! Bottom line if you want a place that is AFFORDABLE, FRIENDLY, and EXCEPTIONALLY CARING FOR YOUR ANIMAL, Banfield Animal Hospital is the location for you. read more

Always super friendly staff and great customer service. I love how there are no issues with continuing our cats' food prescription from another veterinarian instead of theirs in order to buy the prescription food in PetSmart. It's kind of weird how they do the food prescription expiration every 3 months so you will need to basically have them renew it in person and get a new card. No fees or anything required though which is still great! They always have a great supply and selection of their prescription food readily available, canned/kibble or treats. I love spoiling my cats so it's always nice to be able to get them some goodies on the spot. read more

We visited this location after a rough afternoon for my pet. We wanted to put him out of his suffering and Banfield was the closest place to my home we knew we could go. We were denied services in the name of "special super bowl hours", despite the fact we had arrived 2 hours prior to the posted closing hours. In any other non-emergency circumstance I can understand refusal of services. But to turn away a suffering pet is inhumane and unacceptable. I hope Dr. Rojas and staff enjoy the Super Bowl, as my family had to search to find a place to bring comfort to my pet in his final hours. I would never ever in any circumstance recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've used Banfield because we are military and it is always easy to transfer records every move and always know we can find a Banfield in the area. I have never had a horrible experience. I have always received great care, but I am very persistent and don't just take any diagnosis without lengthy explanation...as pet owners you have to communicate for your pet on all levels. That means demanding proper care and explanation. I recently had to put my Greater Swiss Mountain Dog down due to cancer, they were caring, sympathetic and comforting. They did everything they could to save her before the x-rays came back to show the cancer had spread to her lungs. I can't put into words how emotional our family was (still is) and how the staff was also in tears and holding us, tell me that is not caring! I even got a sympathy card from the entire staff, each and every one of them had hand written something sweet to my family about our Grace after we go her ashes back. This is, by far, the worst place where I have been treated with disrespect and discourtesy and dishonesty. Beware of their wellness plan. It's fraud. They don't tell you that they don't register your pets with the city of El paso. I was under the impression that my pet was registered until I was asked to prove it by the city. As soon as I told the officer that my vet was Banfield the officer immediately said, "they don't register pets with the city" I was appalled bcs that was the 1st time I heard of it. And so I was cited. If you want to prevent a citation don't go there. when I tried to get reimbursement for cancelation of their useless wellness plan they would not return my money, again they are fraud. read more

On 2/19/2017 around 9am we took "Precious" our beautiful loving Yorkie to Banfield Pet Hospital because she was suffering from heavy panting, difficult breathing and looking very distress. We were informed by the staff that we would need to leave her there and they would call us once they had the diagnosis. Around 2:00pm Dr. Rojas called us and said that she did some tests on her and that her internal organs were in good shape and the only concern was spots on her lungs which she would get the x-rays sent up to radiology and they would let her know the results by Monday morning but other than that she was fine and for us to pick her up at 4:30pm. Our distress little Yorkie was there for seven and half hours and was not given water or any medication to alleviate her pain from the stress and panting. She actually was in worst condition when we arrived to pick her up and nothing was done to comfort her and was merely left in the cage for 7 1/2 hrs. When we noticed our little Yorkie was still panting heavily and under stress and Dr. Rojas noticed our concerns and ordered some additional medication to help her relax and help her breathing, for us to administer them when we got home. Why did they not do this while she was in their care? When we got home "Precious" could not even stand up and was extremely thirsty. We gave her water with a syringe and gave her antibiotics. How inhumane to have a dog in your medical care for seven and half hours and not give her water, food or mediation to help ease her pain and discomfort. She died on my lap 30 minutes after getting her home from a place that called themselves a hospital for the care of animals. The thing I will have to live with is the place where I took "Precious" a so called hospital that never had her wellbeing in mind; they were more concern about doing this entire test so that they can charge more. This place is a typical business where profit is the bottom line and not the wellbeing of the animals that go there. I would never ever in any circumstance recommend this place to anyone. I cannot give this review any stars, I would like to put minus stars if I could. Staff attendant was rude trying to act like the vet. She wanted us to have a procedure done that previously almost killed my cat. Another vet clinic did the procedure, this was why I started going to Banfield and initially the staff was great and the vet was great a Dr.Adams, all the good ones leave. The service was awful from the attendants, didn't put table down in the exam room, offered medical advice although she is not qualified to do so, she was not the vet. This place has plummeted to an all time low. It seems uncaring, and lack of proper protocol for an attendants level of education. My cat had a bowel movement in her carrier, for which the attendant didn't offer any help not even with offering paper towels to clean it up, she just looked away, what is she doing at a vet's clinic if she can't handle that situation. I definitely will not be going back. The first thing they did was not have my appointment scheduled correctly, as they are too busy to key in an appointment as the attendant kept saying how busy they were and can't keep track of appointments more or less.; no charge as I did not see the vet. Also, the front desk clerk was glaring at me, like it was my fault. Kept asking me why I wanted to leave, I plainly said I did not like the service I was getting. They really need to have some employee training, which it is evidently lacking. I work for a medical service and I know what customer or patient service is supposed to be, and it sure isn't apparent at Banfield. read more

Was not pleased at all! My puppy King has never seen a vet before and it was our first time going here. I expected a lot since we're military and thought I could rely on a company we can always go to when we're moving. The vet had taken my puppy for a check up and when she came back she was calling my pup a "she"....not a big deal but I thought since she was checking my pup she would have seen his gender if she was checking properly and on top of that she was calling our pup the wrong name! I had seen on her screen that there was another pup to be seen and that's the name she was calling my pup and it almost seemed like she was talking about the other dog's examination until she realized. She was also very rushed like she didn't really want to be there with us and seemed as if she had somewhere else to be, I did also have one of the latest appointments at 6:30pm before they closed at 7:00pm. My husband and I felt very rushed, I felt as if I had to think of all the questions I had to ask super fast before she walked out the door. It didn't even seem like she loved what she did almost as if she just wanted to get the appointment over with. I did not feel confident leaving there that my pup was healthy. I went home and read the paper work of what happened at the appointment and read that there was an "exam found out of normal range" to my pups eyes which was not even mentioned at the appointment !! I don't even know if that was the other dogs exam or for my pup since she had them confused. Totally disappointed, I wanted to like this place but I have to say I will be looking for another vet. read more
