I wish I could rate this place higher, but the only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the vet tech and receptionists were amazing and I was able to get her an appointment fast in which I needed! I have an anxious cat and the vet tech was able to pet her with no problem, something my cat does not let any stranger do, but the moment the vet came in he was stressing her out, dumped her out of her carrier and would not listen to me when I said it might be best for me to take her out and when I had a method to kind of calm her long enough to give her the vaccinations she needed. He was rushing the whole process and had ruined any progress the vet tech and I had made. She was not this stressed at a different vets office and in fact did not need to be medicated, which, they want her to be the next time she's seen. Do not take your pet there. I took my dog for a surgery that cost upwards of $1,200 because he ate 3 plush toys. The vet removed 2, saying that's all there was. I was adamant he ate three, but she swore there were none left in the stomach. Six months later, my dog became really sick and vomited the third plush toy out. The vet did not even apologize for her mistake. I had another dog who passed away just after I renewed his wellness plan. They still made me pay for an entire year....for a pet that had passed away....talking about adding insult to injury. read more

This place is a cash cow. Additionally and more disturbingly, they would not approve my dog's renewal of HeartGuard without requiring another in-person visit. Why is this the ONLY vet I've ever encountered that doesnt just honor continuous prescriptions of HeartGuard? Im not able to bring my dog in for 6 weeks and now the medication is going to lapse just creating additional risk. AVOID THIS PLACE I CANT WAIT TO FIND A NEW VET. read more

I want to thank this Banfield location from the bottom of my heart. They made the ethnicization process as comfortable as possible for my sweet dog. Dr. Brodmer was so helpful in explaining all of our options and understanding all of the details about Reigns health. Roohan at the front was SO kind and patient and showed so much empathy for our dog. He even remembered him the next day when we called for additional info. Dr. Srividya was so patient while we struggled with that day. We could see them giving our dogs hugs and love from the lobby as we peaked in the window. It was such a hard time but they were empathetic, and flexible to make us as comfortable as possible. They handled our dog with such care and kindness. I will forever be thankful. Horrible customer service. Slow and don't listen to you. I went in for 1 vaccine, got quotes $33, but then got charged $125 because of their "office visit." They said there were no rooms available so they just took my pup back to get her shot. But told me they did a "comprehensive exam" and that was the extra $82. Couldn't even tell me what the exam assessed other than "she looks good, no problems". I don't even use them as a regular vet. I get annual check ups for my perfectly healthy dog at our regular vet. I didn't even have an option to refuse the exam. Just give me the vaccine and that's it. Ridiculous hidden fees. Do NOT recommend Banfield here or anywhere else. read more

Where should I even begin. Today I took my 3 Month old puppy in for her second of shots & they misdiagnosed her & did a very foul move in front of my husband & I. When we walk in to the appointment they told us it would be over $600 to just have my puppy looked at & have 4 shots. Crazy!! Mind you we have 2 other dogs on there insurance plan so $600 On top of our insurance monthly payment didn't even sound correct. When they seen my puppy they took her to the back for 1 min and come back with a thermostat they stuck in her and said there was too much blood. There was literally one spot of blood and I know it's because they stuck it in too rough. When they come back in the room and tell us that they proceed to put her on the exam table and forcefully shove there thick finger inside of her with no warning ! She was completely violated and traumatized and as dog parents this was sad to see we had no warning as well we didn't even think they would do that . She pulls her finger out and not one spec of blood but she tries to force us to see blood and all we saw was feces on her finger and a shaking puppy. She then tells us she looks dehydrated, too skinny & lethargic& says she had parvo. Our puppy is the healthiest most active puppy we have ever owned & we have 3 other dogs ! We know the signs to look for parvo as well as rabies and there was no signs for our puppy .Nobody asked how she was before the visit or if there were any signs at all which there wasn't and still isn't. There veterinarians and assistants are terrible!! They must have no knowledge or care on how to take care of animals . They need to go back to school and learn what parvo even is to say my dog has it after completely violating her and making her bleed and trying to make her bleed a second time ! I will never ever ever be returning here and immediately canceling our insurance for our other dogs I mean seriously stay away from here ! Your dogs are being abused behind doors and violated completely. This is a serious and sad matter I want no compensation I want every license there revoked immediately. read more

The surprise info I received when my groomer requested my dogs vaccine records from Banfield to update their records. Banfield advised my dog's rabies shot had expired in October. A 1 year expiration. I asked the person I talked to, why would our adult dog be given a 1 year rabies vaccine, she's 8 years old. Based on her answer, she don't know why either. We will never take any of our dogs back to this place. Either they were trying to make extra money or someone did not know what they were doing. Don't trust them with your love ones. read more

I had a very poor experience going through negligence with this Banfield unit. We took our 8-year-old German Shepherd to have his dental cleaning, vaccinations, and blood work done under anesthesia. While the care provided on the day of the appointment was satisfactory, the aftercare and follow-up were severely lacking. In the days following the procedure, my dog was not eating and had constant diarrhea and vomiting. I called multiple times seeking assistance, but each time I was met with indifference and was simply advised to "take him to the ER." We pay for Banfield services to receive proper care and recommendations for our dog's health. Given that my dog is aggressive and does not like people, taking him to the ER was not a viable option. Despite my repeated attempts to get help, it took my mother-in-law calling to relay the same concerns for Banfield to take any action. These events raise serious concerns about medical negligence and a lack of respect and consideration for clients. When I called to upgrade my plan, I was well-assisted, but once I paid, any concerns I had were met with indifference. read more

The staff, including Vets and Techs, are wonderful but the hours aren't good, and they don't accommodate regular patients for emergencies. My 14 y/o min-pin is not eating and is constipated and I'm afraid will have to be euthanized. I told the staff when I called and they said they couldn't fit her in for 5 days. Update: They sold it to a collection agency for $111. Here it is, 2018, seven years later, and this is still going to be on my credit for another three years. I guess that means I should update my review, so they have to deal with it for a few more years too, that seems fair. Don't let this happen to you. Recap: I took my cat in for the tooth cleaning included in the insurance. They wanted to draw blood to make sure the anesthesia would be safe, but (after being warned she's a handful - and assuring me they could handle her!) they call me wanting another $98 to put her under (using a different anesthesia) for the blood draw, wake her up, just to put her under again, so they could clean her teeth, because they found out 10 minutes after I dropped her off they couldn't handle her after all. When I told them that was ridiculous, they argued. When I turned around, drove back, got my cat, and told them I was unhappy with their service and wanted to cancel my insurance plan they started making up extra charges, refusing to cancel my plan unless I agreed to pay $250 for "previous services rendered" (for ONE vet visit and some ear-mite medicine - and I didn't even get it for free, they only gave me a "discount". Meanwhile, Googled "cat ear mite medicine" and prices range $4-$50. Not $250. Yeah, no, arbitrary mark ups do not count as lost revenue.) Regardless, I was canceling out of disgust with their incompetence, not generic buyers remorse. I was unhappy with the service provided, and their response was to provide even worse service. read more

Never have I heard of someone being told they need to have their dog rushed into surgery (without proper stabilization) then she would be handed BACK for THEM to find post-op care so the vet could close on time. Don't bother with this place. My dog was a patient here for seven years, and in that time I made the appointments reguarly and on-time. Almsot every single time, I was forced to wait 10-20 minutes to be seen AFTER my appointment. I have a german shepherd who is shy. They would be rough and muzzle him and not give him even a few moments to try and sniff or get used to the strangers in the room, instead rushing through his exam as fast as possible, scaring him. I hated taking him to the vet, but he is a healthy dog and I wasn't there often enough for it to be a major concern. Today, I was 15 minutes late for my appointment. I was turned away at the door without even speaking to the vet. After SEVEN YEARS of patronage, I was dismissed for being a few minutes late. I'm immediately cancelling my plan and will be telling everyone I know about how pathetic the customer service and care is here. read more

I called and made an appointment for him to be seen and was given a same day appointment. 15 minutes later, I receive a message that the doctor was accidentally "double booked" for the appointment I was given and they have no other openings. I also pay for the wellness plan for both and have never been charged during a visit because the plan covers most things. They even kept my pup entertained while I paid since there were so many other dogs in the lobby (she gets overly excited and makes it hard to pay attention to what they're telling me and to sign any forms). Took my dog to have him neutered and everything thing was fine except the handed me an e-collar for him to take home. I got home and the e-collar didn't even fit! It was too small! It wouldn't fit around his neck! And they knew that it didn't fit because the reason they handed it to me is because it fell off as they were bringing him out of the back room! Next, Lindsey, the vet tech made us feel comfortable by gauging how my dog would react to the staff, accommodated my dog's behavior, and asked us what my main concerns were for bringing in my dog. After Dr. Talbert, the veterinarian performed an exam on my dog and gave me several treatment options. At first, what could have been almost $800 visit turned into a $136 visit when the suggestion of the Wellness Plan. I went with this option to make sure the coughing and sneezing my dog was displaying was not a serious respiratory illness that could have infected her lungs and throat. Luckily her x-ray came out clear and we were sent home with antibiotics. Days later my dog is feeling better. When I was evaluating my options the staff allowed me time by myself to think. Once the process was over, I scheduled a follow-up for my dog and was promptly checked out. I appreciate the patience and kindness the staff showed towards myself and my dog. Although my dog had a bit of an attitude problem, Lindsey adjusted her approach to making my dog and myself feel comfortable. read more

The constant upselling at this place is obnoxious, to the point where it makes you doubt the validity of ANY of their suggestions because it really starts to feel like they're just trying to milk you. It does have a bit of an assembly-line feel as well. But it's extremely convenient, and for basic vaccinations they do get 'em done. Just be prepared to say "no thanks" a lot. If your pet needs more involved veterinary care then just routine shots, you're probably better off going to local clinic with a more personalized and less "buy this, this, this, this, and this" atmosphere. read more

I had an appointment for a simple rabies vaccination at 5:45pm. They close at 6pm. I called to let them know I was running late because of traffic on 295, I was coming from downtown DC where I work, but live in Laurel. They put me on hold so she could talk to the doctor. She then asked how long and I let her know 10 minutes. Then I was asked to reschedule because the doctors leave at 6. Very upsetting for me because again, I need a simple vaccination. I need 5 minutes of someones time. I came anyway because like most appointments, I assumed they allow a grace period. Again I was denied at 6pm because the doctor's were gone for the day. My appointment was at 5:45pm. I really feel like if I had not given the courtesy call to let them know I was running late, they wouldn't have had the opportunity to deny me. A doctor would have been there to expect me in that grace period window. I'm so annoyed and unhappy. Like where is Banfield's customer service? Where is your "human" factor? Its like no one cared what I was going through to get here and NO ONE could spare me 5 minutes. Really Banfield? Do better. read more

Yes, I agree with most other reviews: SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Went in to "transfer care because we've moved" and needed a Rx refill on a cardiac med -- is exactly what I told them. Of course they wanted to do tests first before they gave me the refill. I get the refill for TWO WEEKS worth of cardiac meds!!! So after talking again with the dr - and can I add, after 2 hours and 15 minutes of being there, they tell me the most they can give me is a 3-month Rx. What??? What am I supposed to do after that? They want me to follow up with the canine cardiologist who we haven't seen in 3 years since diagnosis?? And the "tech" gets all rude with me on top of it. Really?? Unless you want nothing but a glorified pat on the head checkup or plan to enroll in their Wellness monthly plan, do yourself a favor and just take your pet elsewhere! Unbelievable!!!!! read more

For three of our animals, we have not had a problem. Where we have had an issue is with our cat, Xander, who is no longer with us. We took him in after experiencing problems in the household between him and our other cats. We were told to try Feliway, which we did. It seemed to help with his aggression for a little while, but after our eldest cat passed away, Xander's aggression got worse. He first bit daughter while trying to get to our youngest cat. He then bit my son. We tried asking for help from the vets, but didn't get anywhere. Both of these bites were severe enough to send my children to the urgent care center and required antibiotic treatment. Animal control was contacted and we were ordered to keep him quarantined. Before we could do anything else, Xander attacked me. We were forced to turn him over to animal control. Even though I endured antibiotic shots and hospitalization from the attack, it was not our decision. Animal control had already been contacted by the urgent care clinic. Due to his prior two attacks on humans, he was deemed a danger. When we contacted Banfield to let them know so that we could cancel the wellness plan payments on him, which we had been paying for several years at that point, we were told that since we had voluntarily surrendered him (???) we would have to continue paying until the 12 months was over. We not only lost our cat, but we had to be reminded of it for another SEVEN MONTHS, each time an automatic payment was deducted. My daughter has severe scarring on her hand. My son has scars on his wrist. I have scars on both legs and one foot. But the insult of being told that we voluntarily sent Xander to die? That was the worst part. read more

I wasn't happy that I had to wait over an hour for my appointment, and had to keep reminding them that I was waiting. There were 3 of us that sat there waiting our turn. Another woman walked in, and they called her within 5 minutes. This is after they told me I was next about 35 minutes prior. I had to ask 3 people if I a tech, rather than the doctor, could give my dog her shots before I got any response. That's the only reason we had our appointment. Then, there was the up sell as others mentioned. There were 4 or 5 techs walking from the back to the front the entire time. That indicates to me that maybe the doctor was busy but, the techs weren't. Additionally, there were 2 people at the front desk. It looks like they overbooked appointments. I guess they feel my time isn't quite as important as theirs. Once I found someone that would listen, we were done within 5 minutes. There's more but....I'm not happy with the service I received here and I'm not sure if I will return. read more

One bad experience is ok, two is concerning, and three is just flat out awful! My first visit was not too bad, they rushed my puppy into vaccines and scared the living day lights out of her and they also said I get a free exam but still charged an office visit. Second time they tried to charge me almost $400 for my sick pup before the doctor even saw my dog! charging me for all sorts of medication and the doctor didn't even now what was wrong with her!!! And lastly I will admit this wasn't me but a good friend of mine who took her new puppy to this place and said that her puppy was a HE (note my friend has never owned a dog before) and later found out at a different vet that her dog Max was a GIRL!!!! HOW DO YOU MISS THAT BANDFIELD!!!!! Either one of two things happen here one: they didn't check (which is standard procedure) or two: they are uneducated in how to sex a puppy- which SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!!! AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!
