The Banfield in Hurst by NE Mall is horrible in every way possible! If you don't believe me then I feel very sorry for anyones pet that goes there for veterinarian care. I could go into a detailed description but instead I'll just say that I'm taking my dog to another vet clinic in the morning because of them. I am hoping my dog lives through the trauma! DO NOT take your pets to this "hospital" if you care about them at all. They should not be practicing veterinary medicine. At all. I took my two dogs in for grooming and vaccine updates. Things seemed fine initially - I wasn't thrilled with them keeping the dogs all day in crates, but needed things done. The reception staff and technicians I interacted with seemed nice (for the most part; a few were pretty rude). Did NOT like that my dogs were there from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM with zero bathroom break or relief, which is incredibly irresponsible and indicative that these people do not care about animals. The issue I had was with the vet themselves - she (Dr. Moore) refused to speak with me in person and called me while I was IN the office. I never met this person face-to-face. After getting my dogs home, I noticed one of them was more lethargic than usual (some is common with vaccines), and was crying every time he tried to adjust his position, and refused to walk or move. I can't touch him without it causing pain. I called Banfield, and the vet still refused to speak with me. The tech I spoke with said that the vet said these things are normal (this amount of pain is NOT normal, for ANY animal, for routine vaccines and shots). The vet took ZERO accountability and told me to take him to an ER vet if I am that worried - EXCUSE ME? I then tried to call and cancel the ridiculous "care plans" they sold me because I will NOT be going back ever again, and they wanted to charge me nearly $400 to cancel - ON TOP of the $650 I spent today already. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. read more

Banfield in Hurst is AWFUL!!! We brought our dog in for a small rash and found out he has heartworms (nothing to do with the rash- they offered the test and we did it). This is where the nightmare began, they were more concerned about selling us a wellness plan, then explaining our treatment options thoroughly and correctly. We ended up purchasing the plan mid visit and they went ahead and did some services that day. When we were leaving and we're told he can't use some of the services since he has heart worms we tried to cancel it, but then we would've had to pay for the services used. We were in complete shock about the heart worm diagnoses and left completely confused and ripped off. We ended up finding another vet to care for our baby, but had to pay the $80/mo for the wellness plan for a year. When we went to cancel, we could not reach Banfield over the phone so went to the office to try to cancel it. Tamara A SHIFT LEAD was extremely rude and even argued with me. I left in total shock. Compassion is such an important part of vet care and Banfield lacks this unless they are selling you a wellness plan. read more

I highly recommend taking your animals to a different banfield if you have them on a wellness plan. The entire staff is terrible at basically everything! There is a girl upfront who you can tell hates animals and gets irritated when you ask her questions. The doctor there is BEYOND rude and will call you names like sweet heart and honey and interrupt you when you question her care. We have never had an issue with any of our animals in the 8 years we have used banfield. Unfortunately we moved from CA to TX last year and this is the closest one to our new house. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from this practice and the joke of a vet who works there. read more

My oldest dog has been coming here since she was 4 months and she is now 6 and I have not had any complaints. They're pretty good about getting her for an appointment if it's something other than a comprehensive exam. I also take my youngest dog there too and although there was a situation that involved him that I felt could've been handled differently, they did thoroughly apologize and explained why they handled it the way they did. I've taken my schnauzers here for 2.5 years Dr. Moore is amazing. she is thorough and communicates her findings. There is never an over abundance of testing. My pups stay healthy and recover quickly if there's an issu. The staff are friendly and will get you in quickly for an appointment. read more

Let me say first off, the front staff, amazing and understanding people. I cannot fault them. Whom I loath though is their vet on-staff that day. A grumpy old dude. More on him in a min.... I travel with my dog often. She gets skin issues, she has a sensitive stomach, whatever. Just when I think "wow it's been a calm month," she surprises me with the runs or throwing up randomly. Just to spite me I swear. This is what makes banfield so great, there are locations every where I frequently travel... In this case, we called in the morning to make an appt to check out some skin issues, but more importantly to check the recent bout of diarrhea she has been having. We think it was from some heart worm meds a few days earlier, but it's been a 2+ days since? We're on a monthly wellness plan, why not take her in for a check me thinks? They were full when I called in. No problem, I'm assured. We could leave her there for the day until someone found the time to examine her. As we get there, and get to the counter and start to check in, a door opens in the back, an older gentlemen in a lab coat, I presume the vet on staff for that day? Basically yells out, "No more!" Shakes his fist at an angry god, and SLAMS the door. Basically directed at the front staff, to not take any more pets. Holy hell I wanted to give him a piece of my mind. I felt really bad for the front staff that have to work with him. This man has NO place working there; or anywhere for that matter if he has to interact with customers. We promptly left even though we "could," have left our pet there. Drove 20min out of our way to a different banfield and had her checked out there. No thanks to that gumpy old man. read more

I am not sure why there are negative reviews. I found this Banfield Pet Hospital very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I take both my dogs there and they have been very helpful. Dr. Bianca Luz Leos really cares about your pets and is very good with them. My German Shepard has really bad separation anxiety and does not like going to the see the vet and she handled it perfectly with my dog and was very patient with her. I recommend this pet hospital and will continue to take my dogs there. read more

The vet here is fantastic. We have a 6yr old weimeraner who is not a fan of vets (go figure), and he was really good with her. He was young, but very thorough. We actually walked out of Watauga because they wanted to charge us for xrays, bloodwork, and heaven knows what else, for an increased appetite - no thanks. Plus, Watauga's guy vet was cocky, didn't like that at ALL. Found someone else here while waiting who encountered the same thing at that other location. Staff here at the Hurst location was great. The vet tech was wonderful. She was kind with our dog and asked the right questions. Really helpful and knowledgeable. It means a lot to find a decent vet who has a gentle bedside manner, won't charge you for unnecessary things, and wants to do the right thing for your pet. We had a saint of a vet in AZ, so glad we found someone good here in TX. Will drive the extra mile to get to this one. read more

I tried for over half an hour to speak with someone and kept being put on hold. Our beloved 15 year old dog is ill and we have made the heartbreaking decision to let him go. The person who kept putting me on hold is heartless and I will never go to this clinic again! Shame on you!! read more

Do NOT take your pet here I had to put down my 14 week old PUPPY because they chose not to test for leptospirosis! By time she was tested for it she was too far into it and too late to turn around from it! If a virus is going around and it's deadly common sense TEST FOR IT!!! read more

Update: the case was heard in court and the judge upheld my claim, finding Banfield at fault and liable for damages. I hope they change their cookie-cutter way of doing business. Our pets are our family and deserve competent medical care. It felt good to win one for the good guys! read more

I wouldn't even use Banfield as I have a regular, amazing vet in Bedford, however, I use the doggie daycare services at this Petsmart and sometimes it is easier to have services done while my dog is at daycare. This is the second time now that I have suspected they have not done the service they have claimed. The daycare center is amazing and they do state that Banfield comes to get my pet to do the service, but last time I took my dog home that night he absolutely had the same issues as last time. Even worse, I waited 25 minutes when I came to get my dog - just to PAY! They had one girl working at the front and at least 5 people in front of me. They have terrible customer service at Banfield at this location. It's so discouraging. And worse yet, my regular vet charges $15 for this same service Banfield charges $25 for - but I do it for convenience. Never again will I trust them. Take the time to research local, independent vets. We have a great one in Bedford. She's a small shop but charges 1/4 the price of Banfield, has an exceptional staff, and always is compassionate and kind and detailed. I've learned my lesson of taking convenience over quality. Also, kudos to the Doggie Daycamp staff at this location. They are the best around and my dog absolutely loves going there. Banfield could learn a thing or two from the Daycamp staff. read more

we have had two dogs covered by the Banfield Wellness Plan. One dog recently passed away. The very same day, we were billed for her wellness plan. The local staff was pleasant enough but unable to refund the charge. They told us to call their corporate office to handle any refund on a wellness plan. Their corporate office is clueless about customer service. They run it like a government agency. Stay on hold and speak with an idiot. I'm looking for a competent vet that understands customer service. Not found here at Banfield. read more

If only I had seen the reviews for the Northeast Mall Banfield earlier I WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN OUR DOG THERE!! They were very nice last year after I moved here and was looking for a Vet. Once they got me on one of their plans, their true colors surfaced: no customer care and near total incompetence. Sounds like a broken record to these other reviews, huh? Specifically, despite having every record from day one of my dog's history sent to them and in my hands at the time, they claimed they did not have any "Official" records and would have to administer a complete exam with all shots even though she was only due for Bordetella. Refusing this treatment as they argued with me, I was able to get in touch with my previous Vet office who confirmed all records. I should have walked out then as they showed no bedside manner to me or my dog. In addition to the Bordetella they gave my dog a shot for Leptosporosis stating "It is the Law" in Texas. My dog had a bad reaction within a few hours and was taken to an emergency vet that night. That Vet had no idea why our dog was given Lepto as it was "not normal" and could be very dangerous. I told Banfield about this happening, what the Vet said, and to have it put on my dog's record she was allergic... They held their ground it was required yet did not put the event in my dog's records. Since then they have been nothing but rude. It's not just to me. Several others I have talked to who have taken pets there have had similar experiences. Just now, the front office argued with me over the phone as to what my dog is due for again! They stated "Our system is automated and is accurate to what is due". Not a single date or exam they referenced matched my printed records. I even asked if they had the right records and dog. All I got was an argument over the phone. Amazing. Well, we can't make them close their doors due to bad and incompetent service, but we can tell you about our surreal bad experience that matches others here as we make an appointment with a highly recommended local vet we hope to Thrive with going forward. I brought my rescue dog in here the very first day I had him. My dog was starved, dehydrated, suffering from ear infections, worms, and a bacterial infection. He clearly needed love and care. The entire staff was sweet, concerned, and helpful. They were gentle with him and created a safe place for him. 6 months out my dog is now very healthy and the staff there still treats him so sweetly. I'm so grateful for them and will never take my dog anywhere else. read more

We have been using this clinic for years. We have been paying monthly for the Wellness Plan that they offer for the dogs. With all the other services that they tack on, you don't save any money, but it seemed like a good deal with the "discounts". The people up front were usually nice. We talked to the vet a few times and nice there too. But we rarely got anything more than factory style service and consideration. Now, 3 months after 1 of our 3 dogs died, we are still paying for the monthly plan. They neglected to mention that the the monthly charge MUST be paid for a full year, regardless of whether you have a living animal. They claim to be doing you a favor, after the fact, by calling it a "financing option". My wife and I NEVER FINANCE ANYTHING, so the fact that they try to pawn this off as a nice thing they do to offer a monthly financing for a year's worth of service is just sickening. We apparently have many months to pay for the lost dog's lack of services. No offer was given to pay any bills for the year that they would have collected off of the plan (since that would have been nothing). There was no buyout offered at all. No sort of remorse. Oh, and did I mention that you cannot talk to the store people, but rather call some other state on the phone so they can hide behind the veil of a phone connection? Regardless of however they want to try and sugarcoat it. A mediocre experience for years turned absolutely awful because of a thoughtlessly designed program. We are done and will go and find a new vet that actually cares about us and our dogs. read more

Awful. Awful. Awful. Moved my fur baby and all the records from this location 7 years ago because they were unable to see him when I called-- he was lethargic and had a bite. Despite being a longstanding customer and paying for the Wellness plan monthly, I was told we could come in the following afternoon (nice way to show concern). I called the Watauga location and they instantly got him in for the emergency (thankfully, as we learned he was allergic to wasp stings). The Hurst location is dirty (never swept) and treats customers and pets like numbers, not people. For convenience I recently had to take another dog to this Hurst location-- the receptionist was completely lost and uneducated on everything. In fact, she had customers guessing the weight of their pets for the records without even weighing them. We waited 59 minutes for Dr. Moore (yes, almost an hour) because she was "researching". This review is not a joke, but this vet practice is. You want an AWFUL EXPERIENCE, go here?!?! Or, take my advice and move 15 minutes down the road to Dr. Young, Dr. Whaba and Dr. Ecklund and their amazing staff in Watagua. read more

Have a very sick dog with blood in his stool and was told by this location and 2 other North Texas locations that they were booked and that he could not be seen today. There is only one vet in the office today and would be in surgery until 2 o'clock which I understood. Only way he could be seen is if he were dropped off and left. I would not drop off my child at the doctor alone why would I leave my dog. Upon contacting corporate headquarters to find out why none of the North Texas locations could see him, the Hurst location suddenly changed their tune and offered for me to wait in a room. I find it concerning that it took a call to their corporate headquarters to have resolution that should have been resolved at site level. I would never recommend their insurance plan to anyone. Vets are very nice but too much red tape to have your pet seen in an emergency situation. read more

I had the worst experience at this Banfield. Their lack of communication cost my family our cherished pet. My husband dropped off our dog, Jessi, for a routine dental check. He confirmed with the receptionist that he was the ONLY one to be able to pick up our dog. She said yes because he had made a new "profile" with him being the only owner. Due to her carelessness his ex girlfriend was contacted for the pick up instead of us and our dog was released to her. When we called to check on the status of Jessi because it had been so long they informed us she had already been picked up. We were very upset to find out they released her to someone other than us and when trying to contact them and the corporate office to find out how this could happen we were shut down and refused answers or any sort of help. This shows this business is only concerned with money and does not care about the well being of your pets or yourself. You can't imagine how hard it is knowing the only way we'll be able to get our beloved pet back is to go through a lengthy and expensive legal battle. In regards to your reply : the problem is the lack of communication your staff had and the fact that your receptionist lied about no one else being able to pick up our pet. Had she informed us someone else could pick her up we never would have left her there but your lack of concern for your clients and their pets shows what an awful business is being run. read more

I have used this Banfield for over 5 years and used to be very pleased. But now they have dipped greatly in service and kindness. We have a teacup chihuahua that I USED to take there. Every time they were more and more rude. The last time we went I asked to get his nails clipped. When I picked him up they had pulled a nail completely out of his paw and he just looked like he went to Hell and back. He never looked like that before! I asked what happened and she replyed "it's just a little blood he will be fine". I asked for a manager or doctor. When he came out and downplayed the issue, I got in his face and almost knocked him out! DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!! read more
