Worst Banfield I've ever been to. So unprofessional. Currently been on hold for more than a half hour just to reschedule an appointment. I pay $150 a month for my two dogs, you'd think they'd be able to offer better customer service. Especially with such a simple task. Last time I was there it sounded like they were beating animals in the back. My dog was so scared she pee'd herself, and that has never happened. She hasn't pee'd inside anywhere in years. Plus she went potty just an hour before. They need a complete overhaul of this location, maybe find employees that genuinely care about animals, instead of just doing it just to have a job and make money. *UPDATE* After an hour I hung up and called back and Laina laughed and blamed the phone for not reminding her I was still there. Now they're telling me there's no openings till August! Originally they told me they had openings in March, so I purchased the package for my animals immediately. Then I was told after spending hundred of dollars that someone lied to me and there's no availability till May. Now I have to wait till August? Wow. Really care for animals here... read more

Banfield Pet Hospital in Nesconset, NY.  I have been in contact with Banfield, speaking with the Chief of Staff, and was unable to obtain answers or a true concern and apology.  She, herself, stated the Doctors are spread thin, and that day she saw 35 animals.  How much time is actually being spend on treatment and care in an 8 hour day, when one Doctor sees 35 animals!?!?!?! My dog was under their care since 2017, and was never diagnosed with a life threatening tumor, even though I maintained her wellness exams, shots and nail trimming etc.  She had multiple symptoms, all of which were ignored.  After taking her to another Vet, who immediately diagnosed her tumor, just from touching her belly, she went into emergency surgery.  The tumor was pushing against all her internal organs, and at the risk of rupturing.  The tumor ended up weighing 20 pounds - 20 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!  The Vet stated this does not happen overnight and any exam was "Veterinary 101." This dog was suffering a while. Apparently, you cannot pursue legal action because animals are considered property!!!! That will not stop me from telling people to STAY AWAY FROM BANFIELD everywhere I can!!!!! read more

I have had 3 dogs in my life and our first two were always seen at banfield in levittown. I moved and got a third dog and decided to get the insurance and go to the lake grove location since it was closer. BIGGEST MISTAKE. I pay $82 a month for insurance. I can never get an appointment ever, they will be booked up for over a month. So why am i paying insurance to never be able to have my pupp seen when needed. I took him there because he stopped eating and was being really picky about his food (NOT NORMAL FOR MY BABY) I took them to the vet and they didn't tell me his vet wasn't actually in that day and they he was seen by a sub. (their receptionist actually accidentally told me that weeks later) so for a month i'm going in and out of the emergency vet since they don't have appointments so i'm paying out of pocket for visits on top of paying insurance. he develops diarrhea and loose bowels and no one can tell us what's wrong. Since his very first visit with the sub vet i asked could it be his food i know it hasn't changed but maybe it's an intolerance they told me no. Didn't even look into it didn't pay attention to me at all ignored it and kept pumping meds. Then told me to transition him back to his regular food and i expressed that i didn't want to because i think the food is the issue. The vet tech continuously ignores me and keeps pushing me to then buy an $80 bag of food (a small bag) which i have a large breed so i'd be spending easily over $300 in just food for it to MAYBE work. after already spending thousands for them to tell me nothing is wrong he's perfectly healthy.... I decided to ignore the staff completely since they didn't listen to me and transitioned my baby to a dog food with no chicken, or beef and is meant for dogs with sensitive stomachs. And as i said I was right! His breed is prone to food allergies and intolerances and the mini switched his was back to normal completely. They just kept telling me to spend more money on a perfectly healthy dog all because they refused to listen to me the pet owner. I will NEVER bring my dog back to this location because it was extremely unprofessional for me to have to go through that for OVER A MONTH spending that much for my dog to just need a sensitive food diet due to an intolerance that I asked about since the first visit with them. I am thankful that my baby is fine and healthy but honestly that's just poor vet work to push brands and expensive items on people even after they tell you no. Very disappointed that not everyone working in the vet is concerned about the actual pets and is more concerned about the money of it all because they would've kept me coming back if i transitioned to the food he was allergic to. If i could give 0 stars I would. update: then told me to email them d as so they could speak to me and work something out and that was weeks ago so i will just stick with a different location as i stated previously. be warned of this location though! read more

I used to have a 5 star review of this place. However, since they switched practice managers earlier this year they have managed to run out my favorite vet, Dr. Naseem. I have been working with Banfield professionally as a PetSmart Hotel Leader and personally as a client with my own dogs for almost a decade, but will be following Dr. Naseem to wherever his new practice is, even if it costs twice as much as is twice as far. Absolutely disgraceful that the company allowed this to happen, but ultimately their loss. That being said, all of the CSCs & vet techs are awesome, I feel bad that they get put in the middle of the mess. read more

I'm not one to leave reviews for private businesses. But I could not hold back on this one. I started taking my puggle to Banfield a few years back. The staff was always knowledgeable and courtesy. Sadly, there was a turnover of vets there early last year. 3 weeks ago I took her for a well visit and Dr. Morrison adamantly recommended that she have her teeth cleaned. I expressed my concerns as my dog was almost 13 years old and did not respond well to the anesthesia the last time this treatment was performed. Against my better judgement I consented to the treatment. Approximately 1 week later my dog started to have coughing fits. I called the vet and expressed my concern that she contracted Kennel Cough. I made an appointment and brought her in. I wrote down all of her symptoms on the intake form and left her to be evaluated. I received a call 3 hours later asking me why I brought her in. I explained the symptoms again. Dr. Morrison responded with "she seems fine..." I told her that I felt it was Kennel Cough and she responded "oh yeah I guess that could be it...she should get better in 2 weeks or so..." I then asked if she should have an antibiotic since she was nearly 13 years old. Dr. Morrison's response was "Yeah I think that's a good idea..." Why on earth am I diagnosing and recommending the treatment to my dog? I took her home and started her antibiotic treatment. Within 48 hours she stopped eating and started to hobble around. I called the vet and they said it was likely an upset stomach from the antibiotic and to let her rest. 2 Days after she was really struggling to stay awake and still had zero appetite. I called the vet and they said to bring her in that afternoon. My wife and I looked at each other and did not think we were going to be coming home with our dog. We had our kids say their goodbyes just in case. The vet took her in for evaluation. 20 minutes later we received a call from Dr. Morrison. She had zero sympathy in her voice and seemed like she couldn't wait to get on to the next patient. She said that my dog is fine and that she is just knocked out from the antibiotic. I asked about why she was struggling to walk and she said that when she pressed down on her back the dog would wince. I then explained that she has degenerative disc disease which was followed by a response of "oh that would explain it. You can pick her up and take her home." I'm writing this now 3 days later after having a mobile vet come to my house to put my poor dog to sleep. Dr. Morrison did not have any remorse towards my pup or knowledge of how to treat her. She also showed that she does not review her patients charts. Banfield needs to bring the previous group of vets back or hire somebody who is actually a competent doctor. If you're already a Banfield customer I would urge you to stay away from the Lake Grove facility. read more

Have taken my coton there for three years, now I'm taking newest puppy as well. Love the techs and staff, Dr. Kristine Campanelli is great with the animals. Very knowledgable & patient. Last visit saw dr gross, subbing in for Dr. Campanelli, a fabulous guy as well. Banfield is reasonably priced for vaccines & well visits. I'm not sure if I'd have a major surgery done there, the location INSIDE Petsmart makes me uncomfortable regarding surgeries for some reason- but I haven't ever had to face that. Great spot, nice folks. Only pitfall is that they really push the pet wellness plan- I need to do the numbers and see if it makes sense, I think it probably does, (my pups are boarded occasionally, so their shots need to be always up to date, I go at least 2x a year per dog), but it is a little much the way it's pushed & can be a bit pricey for some folks. I normally go to the Commack location but I could not get my dog in to be seen there so I used the lake grove location. Had no issue with the vets or their service. I did have a problem with the person at the desk, think her name was joy or something like that. Very rude on the phone, when I called to tell her I was at the office and I had an appointment I got there's a few people ahead of you I'll call you when we're ready, which is absolutely fine. When I got the call back literally a minute later to bring my dog in, I answered and I thanked her for calling me and I am in retail/healthcare a simple your welcome is nice instead I got a mhmm and she hung up. Ok whatever that's fine, get into the store and was told to put my dog into the room and I waited for him. An hour and a half later after roaming the store maybe 15 times I asked her how much longer it will be and she's like well they called you to tell you he was ready you didn't answer. Well actually no they didn't first of, I got a call about what they were doing but nothing that he was ready. Not for nothing I walked past you multiple times you couldn't ask me what I was waiting for and to see if my dog was ready. The rudeness when she had to go check to see if I could pick up my dog was just unnecessary. I work in a pharmacy and if I see people waiting I ask if they are being helped or if I can help them. I know this is a difficult time right now but kindness isn't a hard thing to do right now read more

I want to start by saying that this review was for a specific visit and vet who cared for my pet. the vet's name is Dr. Dave, if you see this is the vet who will care for your pet run! he shows no care or compassion for your pet, spends no time with you to answer questions and instead treats your pet like they are on an assembly line. the quicker he can get you out the faster he can get home. My cats have received excellent care from Dr. Naseem and Dr. Dave. The techs are wonderful too. They take time to answer all questions and always call promptly with results. They have taken my cats in quickly when an emergency has come up. I find all of the staff there to be compassionate. The room are very clean too. I like that they don't push their plan on you and that they tell you the cost of everything up front. read more

I took my cats here for routine and emergency care. They took very good care of my cats. They did a very thorough exam and took time to explain the care they would give. The made me and my pets feel very comfortable. My cat injured herself and they took us right away. She wound up needing surgery and they kept me well informed about her progress. I brought my dog there because he started limping and then didn't walk on his leg at all. The vet came in and touched his leg, that was it. She gave him some anti inflammatory medicine and said if it doesn't get better then I would have to follow up with a surgical vet (which was not true) because they can't take x rays or anything there. Didn't even do a blood test to check if he has Lyme disease which could be a sign of lameness in the leg. Nothing. After bringing him to a real vet turns out he has cancer. Waste of time and money bringing him there. Would give them no stars if I could. read more

I took my dog Brownie, a mini dachshund to Banfield in Farmingdale because he was attacked by another dog. I went there because the Lake Grove store was closed on Sundays. I was very unhappy with the service I received. They gave my dog medicine and sent him home. The next day my dog was bleeding in various place from multiple bite wounds that I was unaware of that opened. I then went to Banfield in Lake Grove and Dr. Naseem helped him a lot. He shaved him, helped relieve some of the infection and found all the open wounds that needed attention. My dog had a bad infection. He showed compassion for my dog who was in so much pain and myself as well. He explained what I needed to do at home to help my dog along. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a loving and knowledgeable doctor. I went back again today and am happy to say my dog is healing great! We've been using Banfield Pet Hospital for several years primarily because of Dr. Campanelli. We had her as a vet from a previous clinic and transferred over to Banfield when she moved. She is great, the support staff at Banfield have not been consistently friendly. This week, when our dog was very sick, they could not fit him in for an emergency! It was Thursday and they said that the next available appointment was Tuesday! The tech also said that we could 'drop him off' and they would get to him when they could! Banfield seems like it is run like a big-time corporation with little regard for the personal issues facing the clients and the pets in times of crisis or emergency! Very disappointed! I usually go to the Banfield location in Valley Stream and they've always been great. I relocated so I decided to try out the Lake Grove location even though I was advised against it and I really wish I listened. I have a Maltese that requires a dose of Benadryl prior to any vaccines/procedures and I told the entire staff along with the doctor in charge (Dr. David Aguirre) of his dental procedure that he absolutely needs it. They did not give it to him before giving him the medication required for the dental and he soon broke out in hives and had a major allergic reaction that's still causing him to be swollen and red until now. The Benadryl wasn't given until after this occurred proving the fact that it's absolutely necessary he has it. Their response was "it wasn't in his file and this isn't our fault". I called the previous Banfield who confirmed that it was indeed listed in his file and if for any reason it wasn't they completely ignored what both my husband and I said multiple times. The other Banfield location even insisted I file a complaint because it was clear that they were negligent. They didn't care enough to read his records before administering medication and they definitely didn't care enough to listen to what we said over 15 times. I stressed it so much because my little guy is 9 years old and I know him very well. If you care about your pet do yourself a favor and stay far far away from this location. Usually I would be grateful for not having a big bill but they didn't even attempt to charge me for the visit because they very well knew this was a major mistake on their part.
