DO NOT GO HERE. For starters the receptionists have NO clue what they are doing or talking about. My cat needed a spay and a few days before her appointment she went into heat so I called and rescheduled. When I finally went in two weeks later they charged me extra because my cat was in heat???? They tried telling me that my two year old cat is always inflamed so it didn't matter when I did the surgery no matter what I would have had to pay the extra $100. Called another vet immediately after and they confirmed that they lied and I was scammed. THESE PEOPLE ARE AWFUL AND ACT LIKE YOU KNOW NOTHING. DONT GO HERE. I absolutely love the team at Banfield, specifically the South Philly location! Both of my cats are on Optimum Wellness Plans. I receive reminders whenever they are due for comprehensive exams and vaccines as well as follow up called after each visit. Alyssa the manager (her adorable doggies), the staff, including the girls at the front desk (Danielle & Savannah) treat you like family! When our pet passed away, they were there for us and empathized with us to no end. Whenever I call, they are always kind and patient, which means a lot, especially if you have a sick kitty and are in need of guidance. The Veterinarians (Dr Venturelli & Dr Spector) are my absolute favs as they go above AND beyond to provide the best care possible for your pet. I love coming here not only because the team consists of amazing human beings but mainly because I 100% trust that are giving the best medical advice for my pet. Took our dogs here for a couple years, seemed fine. Vets are nice, staff as well. Did the wellness plan for both dogs, seemed good. We had blood work done once and they said if you don't hear back then that's good news. Struck me as odd that they wouldn't go over the blood work. Had blood work done again a few months later, called after a couple days asking for results. They said it should be fine and doc would call tomorrow. It wasn't fine, someone glanced at it (after having bloodwork back for 48 hours) and my dog needed emergency surgery, we took her somewhere else for the emergency surgery and she thankfully made it. But the fact they almost killed my dog due to pure negligence of not looking at her bloodwork for 48 hours and it was me calling and describing her symptoms (lethargic, not eating, we took her in to get checked as it was odd behavior) that finally caused them to look. If we had waited like they said my dog would be dead. So we told them we would never bring our dogs back and to cancel our plan. No one will call us back or cancel our plan and they just keep charging us. Do your pets a favor, go somewhere else read more

I just spent the last hour and a half trying to get a hold of this place just so the groomer could get the date of my dogs last vaccine and to make sure she was current and neither I or the groomer could get anyone to answer the phone just so she could get her nails trimmed so I ended up not even being able to get her nails trimmed because of them, and I've also been trying to get a hold of them to get my dog in for 3 weeks and can never get anyone on the phone I'm thinking of changing vets cause if there ever was an emergency it would be nice to have a vet that will answer the phone read more

I finally just switched to a local vet after 9 years of using Banfield. Now that I've switched I can see that I made a big mistake not switching earlier. The scheduling is terrible at Banfield. The front desk service is awful. You have a scheduled appointment and have to wait forever. The rep at the desk said she was going on break last time and that a vet tech would help, we'll I sat there for 20 mins with no check in. You have to have months in advance to get an appointment, especially dental. When my cat goes in for an appointment and then needs a cavity or something taken care of, they will not get her in for another few months so she has to suffer until then. Come to find out they do not use dedicated time towards regular appointments. They fit them in between surgeries so there is no real time your animal gets with the vet. Additionally I did have another cat that I voiced concerns about multiple times and the vet tech kept telling me on different occasions that she was just old (she was only 8 yrs old). She ended up having cancer the entire time I had voiced concerns. Had I gone to a different vet she would've gotten get the care she deserved. Now that I'm going to this other vet I'm finding out my cats did not need shots every 6 months, rabies lasts longer than a year and my current cat is strictly indoors so no feline leukemia is needed. Why did Banfield give shots every 6 months??? I'm guessing to make the wellness plan look cheaper. Also the new vet explained everything and spent more than 2 mins with us. Bottom line is Banfield clearly has a staffing issue and they try to cram in as much as they can to maximize profits. Your pet will not be cared for. read more

This place is just a waste of money when my dog swallowed a bone whole I called them to see if they could help they told me they couldn't help and laughed when she said bye and then I also tried scheduling a wellness check for an ecoli infection I was put on hold and had to wait about an hour and was told I'd have to wait about 2 weeks and then on the phone when I confirmed the date she just hung up on didn't say bye or asked if she could me with anything else even though I had another question to ask. they only care for your money and not your animals read more

The female vet here is awesome. Really nice and just makes you feel like she'll drop everything for you to make your pet feel better. The male vet on the other hand is SO rude and sexist towards women. When I take our dog in or when I talk to him on the phone he is accusatory, mean, and makes me feel like the worst pet owner in the world for not brushing my dogs teeth every single day. However, when my husband talks to him, he's the nicest guy in the world. He even told my husband not to worry about our dog's teeth, because he himself forgets to brush his own dog's teeth. I could use a thousand more examples of this type of behavior, but I'm sure you get the point. Besides that it is still a pretty good facility. They are helpful and kind. I just wish the male vet didn't have the whole "me Tarzan, you Jane" sort of vibe. read more

Terrible service! Receptionists or at the front desk are not trained or they just have bad attitude! People like that shouldn't be talking to customers. Just because it is a hospital, doesn't give them a right to treat us with attitude. When my dog was injured, they said they don't have time to look at her. They sent us to one of the after hour (Urgent Care) that is 35 miles away saying that they would let them know that we are bringing our dog. Also she said that plan we signed up for can be used in that hospital and we get discount. When we got there, Urgent Care hospital person said that they did not get any phone calls and they were too busy to look at our dog. So we drove all the way there for nothing. Also getting discount with the plan was a lie, too. That urgent care place was pretty upset because Banfield is telling clients that and it is not the truth. Also I need to get my dog's medicine every month and call them before we go over so that they have it ready for us. Every single time, we end up waiting for half an hour or more because they are not ready. They have to ask the doctor to fill the prescription but the doctor is usually with patients so we have to wait. Yesterday was the worst. Doctor was taking a lunch break so told us to wait until she gets back. I was never told not to come during certain time. What is the benefit of calling in advance?! If we did not sign up for the plan, I would not go back there. And I will not going to sign up for next year for any of my dogs. read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER. They're dishonest, money hungry, and couldn't care less about the pets well being. They won't feed the dogs if they're there long, no inform you so you can bring your own food. My mother dropped off my elderly dog here at open their opening on September 6th. They had our dog for 10 hours. When I came to pick her up she didn't look like herself at all. She had no energy, wasn't excited to see me, looked exhausted, and wanted to get out of there ASAP. As I was dealing with the billing my boyfriend took her outside to go to the bathroom. She had blood, black, diarrhea. When I asked the Vet about the diarrhea and asked if they had given her anything throughout the day he said "No, we didn't give her anything." They had already prescribed her two medications and after seeing the stool sample they added two more and told me on top of the $90 I had already spent I needed to pay another $20. When we took my pup home she ran straight to the water dish, she drank and drank and drank. She was so dehydrated she acted as if she hadn't drank all day. I let her out to go potty and she was began vomiting. She then fell over. When I called the Vet's office the next day I was told that Keasha(my pup) had been given a de-worming pill during her visit, even though her stool sample came up negative for worms and the Vet told me he had not given her anything. I then inquired about her visit. I asked if during her 10 hours there they had offered her any food or water. They informed me they do not offer the animals food. She said "It is our policy to ensure the animals have water in their kennel, but since I wasn't here yesterday I can't say that is what happened." I asked the lady if they inform their patients who drop their animals off in the morning, not expecting to pick them up for hours, that they don't offer their pets food - she told me they do not inform their owners of that. I then inquired about a $20 fee that Banfield chargers owners who do drop their pets off for all day care - I asked her what that fee was paying for. "The fee ensures that the animals get taken out to potty, have their bedding changed if they have an accident, and have water offered throughout the day." OH, but don't worry, if you have a monthly membership they waive the $20 fee - the fee that pays them to DO THEIR JOB!! I was so furious with how the treated my dog. I had never seen her fall over from being so weak. The fact that it's their "policy" to give the dogs water and take them out to potty, but she's not sure if it actually happened since she wasn't there, the fact that they didn't offer my dog who was there for 10 HOURS any food (of inform my mother that they didn't) is so infuriating. I told the lady on the phone that my pet is like my baby or my little sister, I consider her family. To think of dropping off your baby at a daycare and picking her up 10 hours later and being told she wasn't fed or given anything to drink for 10 hours is terrifying. BANFIELD IS A JOKE. They should not be allowed to call themselves a hospital. This corporation needs to seriously reevaluate how the tell their employees to run things. Side note: In the 10 hours they had her and multiple tests and exams they did, they somehow missed the fact that my dog had bile duct cancer, which she died from last week. If they caught this we would have had more time to grieve and to consider our options. They almost kill my dog. There is a veterinarian who is like Asian. Now, I don't have anything for his race, because I'm mexican, but the Asian veterinarian at that place just don't treat your pet with love nor respect. My dog is dying thanks to them. It was just some general check up on my dog, and this guy took my dog, and after a whole day, my dog was dying for some reason my dog could not breath normally. This Asian guy and other veterinarian told me that my dog was fine, but it was clear that that was not true. I took my dog to emergencies and I was right, my dog was dying for a operation that Banfield made on my dog just a few hours before. Trust me, this place is not good for your pet. It may be cheaper here then other places, but if you care about your pet, you better look for other place. Banfield almost killed my dog and they don't care about me or my beloved dog. I have brought my 2 small dogs here a couple times for both vaccinations and when they were ill. I've dropped them off when they needed to be seen earlier than available appointments and they were well taken care of. The vets didn't try and "upsell" me any kind of extra procedures but let me know what my options were. I use the wellness plan for one and it has been helpful for a breed prone to health issues because we've saved money in the long run compared to previous vets. read more

I have had a Pet Plan with Banfield for almost six years. I have been very satisfied with them. They always are very sweet and nice to my cat. If my cat is extra nervous or not able to relax to let them do what they need, they let me know and let me come and try to calm him down why they take their samples etc. They always go through an extensive review after his check up or dental cleanings. The plan really is affordable and has saved me a lot of money. Its so nice with the plan to be able to just walk in if i'm worried about him and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. They call after any sort of appointments if its a drop off and tell me exactly how it went. read more

My dog came in with an infected skin wound all they did was bandage him up and send us home. Came in for a rebandage 3 days later same thing sent us home to come back in in 3 days. Next night my dog chewed into the flesh of his tail! Took him to emergency vet they said the end of his tail is and has been dead that's why he chewed on it! If he didn't chew on his tail it would have kept dying and could have gotten him sick to the point of death because these people did such a crappy job at assessing him! They would have kept sending us home with just a bandaged tail. They never shaved the pair off to see the wound and never gave mess for it!!!!!!! BEWARE! Just so that everyone knows don't ever use Banfield pet hospital for your vet. They are shady and their wellness plan is just a big huge scheme to make money. They never cancel your plan when they say they will and then they harass you for a year later trying to get payment from you when you should've never been paying them because your plan was supposed to be cancelled. Also their vets are horrible and don't give the time of day about your animal unless you are signed up for the wellness plan otherwise that's all they talk about the whole visit. My family and I LOVE this pet hospital. It's the best we've ever seen. In the one we went to before we found Banfield, the Vet there seemed to be afraid of dogs. Our dog got so nervous when we took her there that the Vet told us we had to sedate her before we brought her in. We tried that once but decided that could NOT go on. That's when we decided to go to Banfield. I fell in love with the place on the first visit. The Vet and assistants were not afraid of our dog at all. Instead they sat right down on the floor with her and gave her "loves." When they needed her to go to the back for a procedure they couldn't do in the front (ie blood samples, etc.), she even went with them willingly. That was a first!!! They LOVE animals there. So much so that they're not afraid of telling us when they think we should do things a little differently than we are doing. That seldom happens though. All the people there are friendly, willing to answer questions, etc. . I just can't even begin to say all the wonderful things about them that I could. I read some of the bad reviews. They sure don't sound like they're talking about Banfield. The bit about not feeding animals when they're there a long time - well, it had me wondering why the pet was there in the first place. When we dropped off our dog yesterday for a checkup, nail trim, etc, some of the things they needed to do meant she would need to be put under for a bit. After that, she couldn't be fed for about 24 hours, because she would have thrown up if they had fed her (we had to hold off too until today). We have had to wait a while sometimes, even with an appointment, but we just don't mind it. To us it means that the people there are giving some other animal the extra care and attention they give our animals. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. They truly LOVE animals there - all of the staff there do. read more

I have a sweet little golden doodle puppy who is 15 weeks old and we took her here to get her vaccinations. They gave her an optional vaccine WITHOUT our permission. The vaccine was pointless because we don't have that disease here in Utah. The vaccine is the Leptospirosis vaccine and is known for its very bad side effects and about 8 days after her vaccine she got really sick and weak and couldn't even stand. She won't eat or drink and she can't even sit properly. She is currently being treated at a different hospital that actually cares about their animals and I fear that she might even DIE because this dishonest, money-hungry pet hospital gave my puppy who was already recovering from a bacterial infection (which we told them about) an unnecessary vaccine. A better and more honest vet to go to is Animal Medical Services in Orem. The lady there is experienced and trustworthy and she helped my dog when she had a bacterial infection. She also doesn't rush into unnecessary treatment and is honest about pricing. read more

I am banning Banfield and Petsmart for life. I adopted a micro-chipped dog off of KSL Classifieds, which advertised that the dog hadn't been neutered yet, but it had a $400 pre-paid care plan through Banfield to get it done. The previous owner was moving out of state and had to leave the dog. I went into Banfield after having the dog for a couple of months, to get her neutered and discovered that the plan is not transferable. I can no longer get in touch with the original owner. I have all of the paperwork on the pre-paid plan, Banfield can look up the records just fine and see that the plan is still valid, that the dog has not been neutered and she is micro-chipped, so they can identify the dog that way, as well. All that the girl at the counter offered was that for $400 more, she would be glad to assist me in re-enrolling my dog in another care plan. It was really hard not to swear at her. I would rate Banfield a negative 10 if I could.... read more
