The food here is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The portions are just right. Definitely recommend.

I have been eating at Bangkok Cafe for over 10 years now and the food is the best authentic Thai food around. This is a family owned business and the waitstaff are extremely friendly and attentive. I have tried many Thai restaurants around here and this place is by far the best. It's not the fanciest place, but the food makes up for that. Their Mee Grob is soooooo yummy. I would also recommend their Tom Yum and Tom Kai soups. The Chicken Basil is delish (i always add cashew nuts) and their Pad Thai is great as well. Also, they have a sizzling platter that is amazing too (its chicken, beef, or seafood in a peanut sauce served over a bed of spinach with cashew nuts in a yummy peanut sauce). And don't forget to get Thai donuts for dessert! This place also has brown rice, which makes me SO happy! read more

The best Thai food I've had in Fort Lauderdale area. Pad see ew (Soy sauce noodle) is made just right the way it should be! Thai tea is made perfectly too. I notice Thai restaurants around here tend to make their food sweet like their beef salad which isn't pleasant but I've finally found a Thai restaurant that tastes very authentic and their beef salad is sour and spicy! the way it should be. This place is a mom and pop Thai restaurant, very traditional so you won't find anything fusion or out of this world here. I had the chicken pad Thai. It was too sweet and saucy...and fishy. The staff is very friendly but the restaurant itself is very outdated and has that old carpet smell. People who swear by this place and have been coming here for many years obviously don't know the difference between amazing, mouthwatering Thai food, and this place. And it's just that! They haven't ventured off and tried something new because they have probably stuck to the same comfortable place for so long. So hard to find great Thai food here -.- better off in Joya restaurant in New York or Arawan in Las Vegas. read more

I have only ever been here for lunch, but I have always been very happy with the food. The Service is fast and efficiant, my water glass gets filled without me having to ask (I drink a lot of water, so that is something I always notice). The decor isn't anything to write home about, but the food makes up for it. I love Pad Thai and haven't ventured too far from that on the menu, so I can't really say anything about anything else, but The Pad Thai makes me happy and thinking about it makes my mouth water. Let me start off by saying I'm a very fair person. I walked in with high expectations, and I left feeling like none of them were met. The quality of the food was the absolute lowest. The service was Mediocre at best. I would not recommend Bangkok Cafe unless you like onions, which were the main ingredient of every dish. They waitress counted the number of mushrooms in my dish (3). Please don't be fooled by the soup and salad. The soup tastes like pot water. The spring rolls had no spring, just rolls: no cabbage. This WAS one of my favorite Thai places but after tonight I'm thinking differently. The waitresses could not understand English and the service was substandard. Their excuse was that they usually are quiet on a Sunday night but apparently all their tables full. We chose to go here for my mom's birthday, eager to add a new Thai place to the restaurant rotation. We went around 8 pm on a Monday night, which is usually a slow night for restaurants, but there was not one other party there. At first I was excited, we get the restaurant all to ourselves! We ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer, which was simply called "Shrimp Tempura" on the menu, with no added description. My mom also ordered the tom Yung gong shrimp soup, and my dad and I both ordered curries: masaman for him and Panang for me. Almost 15 minutes later, our appetizer comes out, with a total of three shrimp tempura on the plate, and two pieces of fried sweet potato and fried zucchini. Wish we would have known that "shrimp tempura appetizer" translates to "three shrimp and mixed veggies." My mother's soup was tasteless. We sent it back and this time it was spicy and tasteless, big improvement. Happy birthday to mom! 10 minutes later (wait times are ridiculous here) our entrees come out. The massaman curry was bland, the chicken was rubbery, and unbelievably watered down. The Panang was slightly better, but good god the chicken is very disappointing here. We're biiiig Thai lovers and have tried all kinds of different curries. We've never been in the kind of situation where we'd have to leave a restaurant without eating or paying, but we couldn't even force ourselves to eat it. So we paid for the tempura and left to get takeout from a trusted Thai place to salvage what was left of the evening. My mother puts a positive spin on everything. We walk out of the restaurant, upset and hangry, and she says "Hey, at least we'll always remember this birthday'" If I were you, I'd forgo this restaurant if you want to avoid remembering an evening out for how terrible the food was. read more

while the food was very wholesome, it was VERY not Thai.... i ordered the chicken basil w/ chili....aka gra pow, a thai staple... usually a simple dish, with chicken, thai chili or serrano peppers and basil....my dish was chicken, onions, carrots a small amount of basil, and some crushed red peppers in a watery brown sauce....i ordered it " thai hot"...it wasn't even hot! i asked for some pepper sauce (nam prig, another thai staple) to spice it up a bit, and was told they didn't have that , or have any thai peppers, or fish sauce (yet another thai staple) and was brought more crushed red peppers.....my wife ordered a not spicy scallop dish, that came with the same onions, carrots and watery brown sauce combo. That being said, the service was excellent, and the food was VERY fresh and good, just not very "thai". I don't think anyone would be dissappointed with the quality of the food .....also, the gratis appetizer was nacho chips (???) with peanut sauce!! $50 dollars for two people (no booze) a bit much, won't be returning read more

It's sad when you order pad see ew, fried rice, and egg rolls that are bland and cooked with commercialized seasonings. Not authentic at all! This place is nice& simple as I enter. The hosted sits me at a table the corn chip w/sesame peanut dip is a bit diluted but tasty. I had for starters a spicy shrimp soup. Medium spice, delicious, chicken dumplings tasty! And spring rolls, just right, not to greasy, I dipped the dumplings in duck sauce YUMMY! My boyfriend bought to go Pad Thai with Shrimp and it was flavorful - it had enough spice/heat. Takeout was great and so I decided to take my boyfriend there for his birthday. Dine-in experience overall was good but the customer part in "customer service" needed polishing. We got the service but our 10 year old ordered steamed dumplings and the ones served were OLD, tough and darkened like it had been sitting out all day and then served. It was served cold, not HOT right from the steamer. We let the waitress know there were extremely tough and hard to bite in and not even sensitive to what we were saying said that they were made fresh! I've eaten and made steamed dumplings myself and there was no way these were FRESH! I was there to add to my list another AUTHENTIC Thai restaurant but will remain loyal to Thai Spice. read more

I came her last night for a study snack with my roommates. First of all, its a little difficult to find. Its in a medical strip mall with only a small sign out on University. My boyfriend had to do a couple u-turns before being able to locate it, even with gps. We walked in and there was no one there. You could tell it had some former glory with reviews written by the Herald dated in the early 2000s. The waitstaff was good, especially with no one being there. I ordered the Tom Yum Goong soup and the pad thai. Unfortunately the soup was nothing like the Tom Yum soup I have had at other restaurants. It wasn't creamy or spicy like a Tom Yum is supposed to be. The broth was very acidic. I didn't finish half of the bowl. The pad thai was good, however. It also was a little acidic at first bite, but once I mixed it around, it was pretty delicious. Big portions and they also give you rice with every dish. My boyfriend had the soy sauce noodles, their version of the Pad See Ew noodles. He finished the whole thing so I'm assuming it was edible. Decent prices for what you get. I'm unsure if I'll come back with yummy places like a-thai and thai thai in the vicinity. read more

Used to love this place for Pad Thai and first started going here about 25 years ago. Stopped many years ago when I used the restroom and saw a very dirty kitchen on my way back. Tried a couple more times in the past 5 and walked out as it has a musty smell like they had a water leak that damaged carpet. Daughter home from college last night and loves the above dish so I suggested this place only because it's close and was closed for renovations recently (door sign when we attempted to try weeks ago). Sadly must say, STAY AWAY, unless going for curry which husband had and is why it got its two stars above. Never had I eaten anything resembling the Pad Thai that I had, absolutely no peanut taste, pale noodles with various cabbage and some sort of a partial won ton type thing also making its way into the dish. And by the way nothing at all changed inside, such a shame as many years ago this was our favorite restaurant for Thai. read more

I've been to Thailand 16 times and I've eaten in all or most of the Thai restaurants in the area. In my opinion, Bangkok Café offers the most authentic Thai food in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. Outstanding portions and very good prices. I found the service to be outstanding, lovely atmosphere and overall a great dining experience. Despite the fact that Bangkok Café is located in the heart of Broward County(University drive and Griffin Road) it's a little tricky to find due to the way its position in the shopping center. Regardless, I couldn't recommend the restaurant highly enough. Outstanding!!!! read more

Very good service but the food was extremely low quality. I'm sorry to say it but Ive had many, many Thai meals and this is probably the worst meal Ive ever had. The appetizers were tasteless, the soup was like water with onions and a few pieces of chicken and the entrees were essentially steamed vegetables and a watery curry sauce. They put excessive amounts of onions on everything. Extremely disappointing. There are MUCH better Thai restaurants in this area. read more

One of those gems that is hidden from view. It never seems to be busy so on a Friday or Saturday night when everyone else has a one hour waiting line, you can stop here and sit right down. The meals are fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. Tonight I had chicken curry with vegetables which was only $12.95. The only thing you should be aware of is that they will ask you if you want your dinner 1 star, 2, ect. . . so be careful. 2 stars does not sound hot, but it is about as much as you would want to handle. There is a jar of hot sauce at the table so go low and then add it yourself. read more

They have great pad thai with different spice levels (5 is EXTREMELY spicy). The portions are large. I also like their Thai iced tea. The service is quick and take out doesn't take long either. read more

Two of us went for the lunch. We both had the Chicken red curry with bamboo shoots. It comes with soup, salad and a small spring roll. I have been there many times in the past but not for quite a while before today. Their soup is bland and useless. Their tiny spring roll is good. They have a "salad bar" which has iceberg lettuce, cucumber and tomato. It has two kinds of "dressing". One is supposedly Thai peanut sauce dressing and the other ginger dressing. I used to go there specifically for the peanut dressing as no one made it as good as they did. I don't know what happened but this was NOT that. It was watery with no hint of peanut and it looked like a thousand island dressing color and not brown. The other looked like ginger but was bland. What a disappointment! The entrees were very good as usual. The service is very good. Now I will have to search for an authentic peanut salad dressing restaurant. I can get good Thai chicken red curry from many restaurants so we will not be going back. read more
