I stopped in for a haircut. Two stylists were working on a mother daughter both getting their hair styled for some special occasion. The receptionist told me it would be a 10-15 minute wait. OK. Not bad. So I waited...and waited... After an hour I ran out of patience and left. What a waste of time. I wish the receptionist would have been honest with me. I was pretty mad. When I do get my hair cut I will make an appointment at a real salon. No more of this waiting for more than an hour baloney. read more

This has got to be the worst place to EVER get your haircut! First of all, they do not take appointments (due to covid?), so when I arrived there around 5:45pm, they checked me in...but then told me they couldn't get me in until 7:30pm. I had asked for a cut and color, but based on their closing time (of 9pm), they would only have enough time for a cut. Fine, I accepted that and waited for the cut. At 7:30pm, I come back in and waited. I was finally called to a chair around 7:50pm. I gave the stylist a picture of what I wanted. She attempted but did not do the cut correctly. She didn't even use a comb to part my hair, instead she ran with the part I did with my fingers and started cutting. The cut was way shorter than the picture, and it just did not turn out right. Overall, I was EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my cut, so much that I'm now researching a new stylist to fix my cut! Save your money and your time, and go somewhere else...I beg you! read more

At first when I walked in this salon looked impressive and took me back within 10 minutes. I went in for a "blow out" which at every other salon I've visited means shampoo, blow dry and style. After a quick google search to find a place I could go on a Sunday (my fav place is closed on Sundays) I found this place. So the girl who took me back directly to the sink for the shampoo. After getting me into the chair she started blow drying. She didn't really ask me how I wanted my hair. She didn't even ask me where I like my part. She blow dried it completely straight which I've never experienced. I guess you could say that's my fault for not speaking up. But I wanted to give her benefit of the doubt. At the end I asked her if she could curl it since the whole reason I came was to have those big nice curls for photos I had scheduled. She went on to curl my hair for like 45 minutes. In the end I was expecting a $26 blowout as advertised and walked away with a $46 forever long appointment. Also it's all walk in clients so the girls all seemed rushed. read more

I came in for an eyebrow wax (waited nearly 30 minutes for just that) and the stylist asked "just cleaning them up?" To which I agreed. My brows are naturally on the thicker side, so you can imagine my horror when she was done and I was left with pencil thin brows! Which by the way were completely uneven when she first showed them to me and I had to be the one to call it out! All she said was "oh I didn't realize..." didn't realize what? I'm going to have to be the one to suffer the consequences of a sloppy careless job, including feeling self conscious about how I look, while waiting for my brows to grow back and the stylist will just go along her merry way. I've been going to Bangs since they opened, about a decade ago! I love this place so much that when I moved out of state, I still came back to get my hair done. I've gotten everything from styles to cut to color. Amanda is my go-to. She is phenomenal understanding the new looks I'm always asking for. A few years ago someone else attempted doing my hair here and did a horrific job. I wrote to a manager, later discovering that's Amanda. She had me come in immediately and fixed the damage at no charge. I only trust her expertise and never go elsewhere. This location also offers make up and waxing; their website shows a full menu as well as packages. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but these ladies work hard and have great customer relations. The salon is always tidy and there's a restroom for customers. It's located on Niagara Falls Blvd next door to Wegmans. Definitely recommend! read more

Really disappointed in the cut and the color - hairstylist was very sweet and seemed to understand what I was asking ....Showed her a picture even and ended up with nothing like the picture - paid $120 just to go home and cry - asked for a compete layer and feathered off the face style and what I got was an old lady looking bob. This is a great place to go if you like looking like you got your hair cut by a particularly dim six-year-old with safety scissors. I went to get a trim, and from the moment they took me back (after an admittedly reasonable wait) the experience was poor. The "stylist" first washed my hair by jamming the shower head against my scalp and rubbing it around. I kept pulling away because I was in pain, and she just followed jamming harder, telling me to "sit still or I'd get soaked." She actually caused small abrasions on my scalp which I can still feel a week later. As for the actual cut: I have short curly hair. A competent stylist told me to never let someone near me with texturizing scissors, because it leaves me with a mountain of frizz. I communicated this and got an eye roll and "how do you get a choppy look then?" I also told her that I part my hair to one side and like it a little longer so it doesn't stick up, and got "we just cut it all one length." Um, no. When I protested, she sighed, rolled her eyes over my head at the girl next to her, and told me, "I've been doing this for 20 years." What I wanted to say (but didn't) was "bitch, I don't care if you've been doing it for *fifty* years, you're working in a walk-in salon a half-step up from Supercuts so clearly you aren't at the top of your game." Of course, I didn't say that, and instead settled for being curt-bordering-on-rude (I know, not good, but I was getting really annoyed) when she tried to engage me in small talk about moving to the area. I was clearly getting anxious about her ability to cut my hair at this point, and she kept telling me to calm down and relax. This review is already running long so I won't give the play-by-play of how she butchered my hair, but she clearly had no idea what she was doing. Asking for no clippers meant she just didn't bother cutting the hair around my neck at all, giving me the beginnings of a mullet. She also didn't do anything with my bangs. I said I like to keep them a little longer, but except for one clip at a curl from my cowlick. When I got home I could see that around my ear instead of laying flat and naturally it was choppy and uneven. I can't emphasize enough that NOTHING about this haircut was good. I then paid for the honor of having my hair butchered. Definitely would not go back, and can't recommend it to any human who likes their hair to look nice. read more

Usually, I love this place. When I can't wait for an appointment or am low on funds but don't want to go to Supercuts, this is my choice. And they usually come through. When I went in, it was busy but not too busy. I was seen in a reasonable amount of time. But when I explained how I wanted my hair and showed her a picture and all she did was chomp her gum.. I could tell I was in trouble. She sat me down after a wash and started on the cut. Didn't bother telling me her name.... Didn't bother with any small talk. While all the rest of the hairdressers and their happy clients cheerfully chatting around me, I was with someone who's ultimate goal was to get rid of me. Even at the end, she said, "Do you want it styled?" Well, YEAH.... I did pay for it!! Now, I have always been self-conscious about my thin hair.. I have a spot where its obviously thinner and she completely disregarded me when I asked her to make it a little fuller. She did what she wanted, didn't tell me about products being used and I was done. She didn't even show me the back, even though I asked. When I got up to the counter I asked about a product on sale. Her response?! "That won't work for you". That's it. No tips or suggestions on what would work. Well, lesson learned. I won't be back. I'll make appointments at a more reputable establishment and be patient. But Bangs should really think about how their employees handle their clients. read more

So a week later I had to go get my haircut fixed. The folks at the salon (over the phone and in person) were accommodating. They said come right on in and a manager will fix it for you. Too bad the manager was the one who botched the cut... It was sloppily done. There were uneven bits, the layers weren't all cut properly, and my bangs were cut improperly so they don't blend properly with the rest of my hair. I couldn't wear my hair straight because it became super obvious. Overall its a bad, cheap haircut done by someone inexperienced. So the receptionist looked up who did my cut and once she realized it was the manager, she let another girl fix my hair. She kinda laughed, and so did I. I mean its an awkward situation! I think it was an awkward situation for the new stylist and I did feel bad. She did her best to fix it in the minimalist time possible. She didn't give me a weird attitude or anything so that was appreciated. Overall I dont think I will be going back. I've had luck in the past with going to cheap hair places before, and I never knock people straight out from school...you really have to build experience to get better, there's no way around it. I might go see the stylist who fixed my hair not the manager LOL. read more

GREAT SERVICE AND RESULTS.........went to this place because it was opened until 9pm on a Friday night and honestly working full time with 2 kids makes it hard to find time for a haircut. Ann Marie was my stylist and she did a great job. I am absolutely in love with the cut and color she did for me. I cut a significant amount of hair off and she Walked me through what she was going to do and why it would look great.....she was right. The rest of the place was busy and all of the girls were working hard with their customers. During the 2 hours I was there at least 3 women and 2 men left happy with their hair. Weird. I've been coming here for years and I know everyone by name. Honestly, I'm probably the worst person to ask about hair because I never do anything with my hair. When I come in here to get my haircut, I usually just angle my hair so that when it dries, it's in choppy layers and angles my square face. It's pretty basic and no one has butchered it thus far. So that's good, right? But I have a secret to tell you. The best person in the world that does eyebrows/facial waxing works here... She is so so good. Her name is Jessica and she's just so fantastic. I tell her repeatedly that I won't let anyone else touch my eyebrows. The amount of time she spends on your eyebrows is insane. Trim, wax, cut, stare at your face, tweeze, more wax. Wait, there's a hair... gotta grab that. She does so good. They look so natural and perfect. A girl needs someone who will take the time and do your eyebrows well, and Jessica is my go-to girl. You know she's good when other staff are like, "So you need to do my eyebrows today..." She does so well that it takes twice as long for my eyebrows to grow in. She does a great job at waxing with the direction of the hair, so she pulls up the root and buh-bye... you won't see it for at least two weeks. I start to get the itch to go back around week three. I use to barely last a week and a half. Besides Jessica, the other staff have always been so friendly to me and my family. I've seen them around town, and they always ask me about my travels and my life. It's actually really rewarding to sit down, let them beautitize me, and have a catch-up session with all the girls. I love them all and so happy to have this place around the corner from me! I was told 30 minutes, it's now been an hour and I've invested enough of my time into this that I feel I need to stay but will never return. There are multiple woman chatting, not helping customers. When you show someone a picture of that you want and specifically say you want longer wispy sideburns and you purposely grew them out so that you can get wispy sideburns and then the girl who has been there 6 years proceeds to cut them off and give you a men's hair cut, even though you are a woman and showed a feminine picture of the hair cut of your dreams, you tend to think you are at a super cuts disguised as an actual salon. I will never step foot into another bangs again. I sat there next to a poor girl who was getting an up do for a special occasion. She was there when I got there and the stage of getting the hair curled. It looked terrible. The girl who was doing it had no clue. The girl sitting in the chair kept trying to explain what she wanted but she was not about to ever get it with someone who looked like a teenager and probably just graduated from boces by the skin of her teeth. I'm generally happy with the work they do. But I'm giving them three stars based on the fact that I have had some AWFUL stylists. For example: when getting accent highlights, a stylist asked me where I wanted them. This struck me as odd for several reasons, one being the fact that she had an aerial view of my hair, which had absolutely no highlights. I'm not expecting my stylist to be a mind reader, but take a certain level of initiative - when I have light brown hair and I want blonde highlights, how difficult is it to figure out where they should go? I have found it is best to bring in a picture of the style/color that I want, as well as a picture of what I don't want. Ultimately, it's a cheap salon, so don't expect a high-quality cut or color. read more
